Everything should be searched for and not available on cash. Also if gun/safety is required quickly consider joining a clan which equips its members, or at least assists the player equip quickly. -
Maybe the dog moments from STALKER SoC + Super mod pack/OL2.2 could be used as inspiration. I know this isn't Stalker and comparisons are taboo.

But given a choice between day time and night time server (with good-moderate ping), which one would most people pick. I would pick night because it makes easier to evade Z and players (and run away from players), and quality of gear comes into play. -
Like the idea. Also puncturing the fuel tank could be implemented so that one can sneak into some ones base and emptying their tanks. Would also like to see difference between petrol, diesel, aviation fuel rather than uni-fuel. Empty a vehicle and fill it with the wrong fuel.

Like the idea. Would few of the shields be ballistic or all non-ballistic? Also battering rams/hatchets could be used to break down doors instead of them being open by default.

Considering the sound made by the single seater copter and the speed and altitude achievable and fuel requirement, I would prefer to carry the hang glider. The space used by the glider in inventory would need to be sorted out. Also, variations of the hang gliders can be implemented i.e. two person, true power, paragliders, trikes, foot launch powered etc. It would have to be constructed obviously by searching for materials and tools. -

Or keep the current spawn rate for night and reduce it for daytime. -
Interesting idea. Would love to roam around with a dog. However the animal AI would need to be improved to avoid players trailing the dog to the camp.

Armor/Planes/Mortars/HMG for standalone

Mortars/MMG might be the only plausible weapons system out of the ones suggested. However, the spawn rate would have to be the same as M136. -

I know I meant as a means of detecting snipers, not actual anti sniper weapon to shoot at long ranges. Similar anti sniper to the boomerang could be the SOVA. Link: http://www.sniperflashcards.com/plamya_owl.php

Could also display number of hits to the body as would give an idea of the weapon used to shoot (if shot by another player).

Sniper rifles should be there, but further reduced spawn rate either for the rifle or if not possible for the ammo. Also the l85 thermal is a counter sniper weapon.

Agree with max, the communication breakdown adds another dimension to the game/simulation (whatever you want to call it) and makes it more interesting, brings psychology into play. And that's where DayZ is unique and different than other zombie games.

Good idea. But would the armour be carry-able from different servers or only for that specific server.

Need civilian rifles with possibly reduced spawn rates of high calibre rifle rounds (not rifles themselves, they look fine now). It'll make the player carry two rifles or use ammo sparingly. And I don't care about high caliber / good rifles being used in pvp, just that every shot should be considered with respect to ammo availability.

Weight would also need to be incorporated for stamina. Hence no carrying helicopter parts/tyres etc in backpack.

if heavy weapons are being considered then atleast one TOW or MANPAD could also be available (possibly the rarest item in the game).

So the player would be a zombie in a sense. Immune to other zombies?
