So I don't understand why is this server still up and running? -
I'm interested in how the rifle has an icon but the mags for it don't?

Two days ago I would tell people to buy ARMA for this mod

I don't think hes saying to work on different versions I think hes saying that on the download link there should just be say a note that says the last stable build that had been tested and had the least bugs/complaints. It isn't a bad idea to be honest. The people who came just to play get to play and those who want to test can be guinea pigs. They should then setup a reporting system that allows only people on the most current (not most stable) build to report bugs ect. It would probably help tone down clutter. -

I just died because the update removed my hatchet. I was low on food and losing health and couldn't get wood to cook the meat I had just got, So I went near town to try and find some and agro zombies that I cant even see, then passed out and a zombie saw me through a fence and a bush and came over and killed me, while I was passed out...Lost some good stuff...smh -
not to knock the thread, but I wouldn't get you hopes up on the petition, rocket never endorsed this petition or agreed to it. While I think hibernating zombies are a good idea I'm not sure how possible it would be with the way the zombie behavior is handled right now. The mechanics behind how they exist in the world.

I'm thinking instead of having tents be a players stash spot. Make the player be able to save backpacks as stashes, hiding them and placing them sort of like stashes in STALKER. Make it a requirement to mark your stashes in your journal or on your map in order to save them. I'm not sure how possible it is but perhaps if a player is killed they can drop a map/or journal with the stashes marked out or the coordinates or a description of where its at or something, then the player who looted the stash info can search for the packs to get the loot. Make it be like 5 backpacks per player or something. Then stash whereabouts could also be used as a reward for a player that helped another player, or completed an objective or something for another player. Then make tents and camp fires be a requirement in order to log out when in the wilderness, and say a sleeping bag required to log out when in a building. So you technically have to set up a camp in order to log out. Have doing it this way not apply any DC time penalty. Anyone who DC without setting up camp gets penalized for 5 seconds in the server or whatever, or perhaps on reconnect they can faint or something. Should help with all the disconnecting in fire fights for whatever reason, as well as randomly being spawned in on say after you cleared an area and someone just happened to save in that area and connected to the server after you had already cleared it. The main problem I see is transferring your camp, from server to server. If someone's jumping servers. Perhaps make it so you have to take down your camp before you can move out a certain distance from it. Idk its late and I didn't full think this through. Gotta work early, so I cant finish writing the thought out. Discuss.

Sounds good just so happened to check the forums right as you posted this right before going to bed HAHA. Any idea on when skins or tents/vehicle saving will be fixed?
-
So me and my buddy XXIV for joining chicago 13, stuck at requesting character data when we were killed by electrum. Hadn't even spawned yet. Looks like it wasn't a permanent death but thought id mention it anyways.

I'm not sure how possible it is, but if you don't have space in your inventory it shouldn't let you move it into it. Just like how you cant pick up vehicle parts when you don't have enough room it should display a message like that and simply not allow the item to be moved into your inventory.

I had a friend get -100k+ getting eaten by a whole horde of zombies...got it on video too ^_^

Winchester is better than military grade weapons?
dekciW replied to Yarden's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I currently have 5 Stanag mags for my CCO and 7 akm mags for my back up akm. I find ammo all over the place you just gotta know where to look. I think I've come across more assault rifles then I have Winchesters, that is honest truth the winny seems to evade me. -

You guys are forgetting 1 key thing. 30 round mag vs 15 round tube. Technically you can carry more ammo with an assault rifle then you can with a Winchester, while the ammo may take a little more digging to find you get more of it for less space. If you use your ammo sparingly and pull hs it will last you. If not rate of fire would put you at an advantage over a winny if you get in a tough spot (you better not miss with that winny). -
I think that the item slots required for specific items need to be adjusted, For example wood, camping tent's and barbed wire are all massively larger then a pistol, with the later 2 being larger then a rifle. Yet they only take up 3 slots? If anything windshields and engine parts should take up 10 slots not a rifle. (I don't know how many slots they take up but for size comparison you get what I mean.) I think the slots required should vary by the weapon and its size, but for the most part I think that larger pistols (M1911/Revolver/M9) should take up on average 2 slots with the (Makarov/Glock17) and any smaller pistols taking up 1 slot and the PDW possibly taking up 3?. Then Suppressed pistols taking up 3 slots because of the suppressor. Normal rifles should take up I think on average 6-8 slots. With smaller weapons like the MP5 or the AKs-74u taking up 4-5 slots. Then simply add an extra slot for any weapons with scopes or suppressors or both. Although I don't think reflex sights should count as they don't protrude as much as scopes do. Also I think flashlights should be a special item like the binocs. I'm not sure how possible this is because I don't know how the engine handles equipment slots and the limitations of adding in UI slots, but if it isn't possible it should take up way less slots then it does. An extra primary weapon slot wouldn't hurt either. I think that bolts for the Xbow should be stackable because they aren't very thick. Lets face it if you can fit 1 in your bag you can most likely fit 10 without taking up much more space then 1. If this cant be done in the inventory then I think a special item like a quiver should be added which simply just is an additional container within the inventory which only holds bolts and a certain amount of them (lets say 20). It would make the Xbow a much more viable weapon to keep and use. Lastly we need some sort of icon or way to tell when certain items are equipped. Because the weapon HUD tends to fade out with time until activated again, because your pistol always stays in your hand its easy to forget that you still actually have a throwing item equipped, To many times have I needed to shoot only to forget I still had my glowstick or flare equipped from an hour earlier when I raided that town and I end up stuck in an animation to throw either..and taking unnecessary damage/death.
-
Also what about putting the amount of inventory slots required for the item in the item description.

Your gonna be limited by your monitor when it comes to gamma and what you can see, not your system. If you cant play in the dark using your sound as your guide when your eyes wont work, I don't think you should be playing an ultra realistic survival game anyways. I've been in situations where its pitch black as well and stars don't illuminate anything.

Very nice indeed agreed.

Date/Time: Happens during night or day across all servers for me. What happened: Can no longer throw things while in prone. If you are prone and try to throw, it goes through the animation but throws nothing. Then forces you to crouch and goes through the animation again this time actually throwing the item. Only been tested with chemlights and flares. Where you were: First time I noticed I was outside of elektro but it happened all across the map from the airstrip to solyichny. Happens in buildings also. What you were doing: Laying prone trying to throw a flare or chemlight. *Current installed version: 1.5.8.2 NOTE** It looks to be an animation bug. You guys should add a section in the bug report format to add what kind of bug it is (Animation, UI, ect) for people with understanding of game mechanics/ect who can give you a little more in depth on the bug. Should help you guys find the bugs faster. EDIT* Removed unnecessary information.

The problem with removing the bandit skin is the communication system isn't good or fast enough to be able to know who your staring at at the tip of your pistol. Unlike in real life where you can call out and get an immediate response or read body language and expressions. Your left to typing and reading a response if you even get one. What happens if the person doesn't even read chat? The only fix I can see is improving the com system having to type every time you come face to face with someone is just to much work and likely to get you shot everytime. Or put a small microphone or some sort of indicator on a person who uses their mic/direct com ect. Because without tags on you cant tell who your staring at and with tags on its impossible to be sneaky...

Temperature isn't the problem... it's starvation.
dekciW replied to Luieburger's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Or perhaps make firewood a necessity to start fires anywhere BUT in the wilderness. In a building for example. I don't know how the AA engine works, so I cant offer any suggestions for detection other then an activator/player location check radius around towns. If your within the radius you require fire wood, if not then its considered wilderness I guess.. -
did you use a flare and a jerry can?

Well the reason I said tires is because there is a tire pile in the balota medic camp which you can light up and use to cook your meat. -

Here's an idea, you should add car tires/jerry cans to the list of fuels you can use to start fires. If you cant find wood use a tire...I think flares should be useable as well to start fires. Stick a flare inside a jerry can, you can make a nice fire with that xD -
Affected addons: * dayz_code 1.5.8 * dayz_equip 1.2.4 * dayz_sfx 1.1.2 * dayz 1.2.5 * dayz_weapons 1.1.2 Anyone else notice on the files page those are still 1.1.1?
