  1. The other day I read a shocking figure that about 3% of purchases of Arma were legitimate (IIRC this was Nov 2011, I'm probably just pulling a random date out of my head though), if this statistic is anywhere near true, it would make sense that very many people were banned for CD key theft or a pirated game in a so-called ban-wave (When I was playing I saw a message come up saying that 2000 people were banned by BE today, I doubt this move by them wasn't intentional). Well, 2 unbanned out of 27 is about 7%, but still near-enough.

    Unconcious Forever

The 'wilderness' is infinite procedurally generated terrain, it's infinitely big!

    What just happened?

Source? You can get banned from servers, yea, it's up to the admins who log other players, but you can't receive a ban from battleye..

    Rarest weapon you've found?

I'm not sure if it was legit but some random dude who I met gave me an m4 CCO SD, that was pretty awesome, rarest weapon which I found as loot would probably be the CZ or MP5 SD, the CZ isn't really that rare is it? I guess it depends on where you like to loot, lilekyhood of finding it is 0.98% in a farm building, mp5sd is about 0.38% in a military building such as a hangar/military dorm.

    Side Chat.

Walkie talkies would be awesome but as-long as they have a realistic range and maybe even different channels so it would be possible to converse with friends or intercept other conversations.

    Graphical glitches... possible fix.

Good news! https://twitter.com/...9253248/photo/1 Looks like artifacting will be fixed in the next patch!

    The DR. is in

I find I get a more positive response from other players if I write/speak in direct chat but they have no idea where I am, it gives me the upper hand and makes them fearful, the type of fear which makes them have to trust you a little tiny bit considering I haven't killed them yet - that followed by careful instructions and slow movements towards one-another with weapons pointing to the ground usually results in no bloodshed. Another situation would be freeing a newbie from zombies but after bandaging them up and giving them a few tips etc. I usually find myself parting from them as they would only slow me down. How do you usually find yourself approaching other players?

primary weapon to weapon in bag

If you don't have enough slots left in your backpack to accommodate your gun/item sometimes it'll swallow it, just make sure you do!So for example what I would do is drop the gun in my bag on the floor, THEN put the primary weapon in my bag and take the one on the floor. I wouldn't try to fit my primary weapon in my bag with the other weapon still inside unless you have a very big backpack!

    Refill water when raining

Do you know how long it would take in real life? ---[Edit]--- Although if you also introduced an item: 'gauge system', I suppose you could leave the bottle somewhere (e.g. by your tent or fire) overnight or through a storm then collect it afterwards but it takes longer than you think it does to get enough water to quench your thirst! ---[Edit]--- Maybe you could even have two uses for tents, one as a storage facility and another as a gauge system where you'd grab the tarpaulin and make some sort of rain collection device, but just so you know, it would take way longer than you think to collect enough water :P

    Should i buy it ?

Remember if you're only getting this because of DayZ you're basically getting two games for the price of one :) Arma is also great and I've probably put more time into it than all the other games I own put together! Also the hacks aren't that bad, as far as I know aim-bots and wallhacks are incredibly rare, the main hacks (scripts) used are item spawners and teleporters with the occasional god-mode but I've only ever come across two hackers in about 150+ hours of playing DayZ, I'd say a main factor of encountering hackers is what server you play on, hope this helps.

    Faith in humanity restored

Those few encounters where you form a bond of trust with a completely random player on the other side of the world make those many gone-wrong encounters worth it :) I'm glad this mod is done on the RV engine, if this game was all arcadey you wouldn't be experiencing emotions, you would just be experiencing short-lived satisfaction from xp or level-ups. I don't play in a clan because I like to think I have at least a tiny bit of faith in humanity that every once in a while I can help a random player without being shot and maybe one day, someone will be able to return the favour when I need it, if you play in a group too much it's easy to forget the basics of survival and much harder to control the situation if things turn bad. Now I don't wanna get any more philosophical but cheers for making this thread, time to launch dayz and gear-up after my last death rage-quit xD

    Hero Skin

    That's why.
  15. Snap! Basically what OP said but 23 steps less...
  16. This annoys me too, I tried communicating with this guy when I was playing yesterday but no response except a shot every time I approached the door of the building I was in so I quickly looked through the window and popped a cap in the survivor's head - who was clearly only a survivor and not a bandit because of the +150h every 20m glitch o.oThe only way I could've avoided dying and not lose humanity would've been to log out... Oh the... (no pun intended)

    Hacker Caught On Live Stream

You know you can walk/sneak without making any sound right? (check dis - It's not dayz but still works) Climbing isn't the loudest thing in the world either, I'd assume you wouldn't be able to hear it from you were, especially over all the noise you were making.

I'd disagree, empty water bottles take up valuable inventory space and water fountains are pretty rare, anyways - it's not like coke/pepsi cans aren't uncommon

    Maps

If you want a map all you have to do is alt+tab or shift+tab to the steam browser and get a map like this http://db.dayzwiki.com/map/chernarus There's not much point in changing the map feature in-game if such an external aid exists, however if the loot-spawn mechanic were server-specific then you could also make a server-specific map which could allow the opportunity for more types of maps such as the ones OP was suggesting.. IIRC Rocket talked about being able to make and leave behind notes in the DayZ standalone, and possibly also making more buildings enterable, this would open up the option to introduce server-specific loot-spawns and maps more easily.

    Mountain Dew Is Bad Luck

I genuinely tried that and have video evidence - it doesn't work I was picked off by a sniper and my buddy ran off safely, I think if you give it to other players it's good luck for them but if you find it and take it then it's bad luck, whether you drink, keep or give it away, you. will. die.-Lemme know if I should upload the video :P

Pro Tips! Post Pro Tips Here!

1] Small medical lesson (I'm not a medic and have no intention of being one in real life, I've just been watching way too much house recently :D) I divide medical supplies into two caregories, primary and secondary: Primary - when you are injured these supplies will get you stable and stop you from dying. These include bandages and one epi pen (that's it). This is all you need in your main inventory to keep yourself or another player from dying. Secondary - once you are stable, secondary supplies will restore you to 'normal'.These items I put in my backpack and include painkillers, blood bags, morphine etc. I transfer them to my main inventory when I need them and I'm stable. To organise limited inventory space with regards to medical supplies carry only one item of primary supplies and put everything else in your ruck. Secondary supplies aren't required to stop you from dying, only to improve your living conditions, there's not really much point in wasting your main inventory space with these items, and in an emergency another player can just reach over to your bag and access these if you're busy with something else. In a situation where you break your leg (whether from a zombie, bandit, glitch, falling from a height etc.) the first thing you need to do is stop your bleeding, I've made the mistake many times where my instincts told me to stick the morphine into me first but then I die due to blood loss, remember you can pass out at any point below 3000 blood (dayz wiki): That way if you're giving yourself a morphine shot so you can run to cover below 3000 blood you may pass out and die, but if on the other hand you had bandaged yourself you can always take the morphine afterwards! 2] If you've broken your legs or just want to be stealthy, a fast way of travelling whilst prone is to roll using the Q/E key, then let go and hold A/D (respectively) till the roll animation stops, let go, then repeat. This will speed up the roll animation and apparently makes less noise than crawling. 3] Although PVP has little motive to it, from my experience bandits usually take pity on unarmed players, which is why if I haven't found a gun yet but just a hatchet, when running between towns I'd suggest putting your hatchet back onto your toolbelt, the risk of being killed by a zombie is really small as they only spawn near buildings, and will this'll decrease your chance of being shot by another player (although not guarantee that you won't get shot as some players are just complete assholes), but I've met way more players who ask questions first when I'm unarmed and just let me be after I show them I only have good intentions (offering them some of the little loot I have or bandaging them for humanity (win)) or they ask to team-up, but when I have my hatchet out other players are more hostile, harder to approach, and assume I have 'some' loot as I've already found a hatchet. 4] Whenever you find extra food or drink, eat or drink it even if you have plenty in your inventory/backpack, don't leave it for another player, the apocalypse is harsh, don't waste anything, who knows the loot spawns may bug out or you may break your legs on your way to a city and end up dying of hunger/thirst because you didn't drink that can of pepsi/eat those beanz, load up your stomach wile your can! 5] If you're playing alone, cooked meat is the ultimate survival food, you don't have to rely on other players to transfuse blood and it'll raise your blood level really quickly as animals drop a lot of meat! 6] If your goal is to survive, use a dayz spawn map to help you journey inland, loot deer stands around towns before you loot the towns so you can check for any activity (zombies only spawn when players are around) and stick to towns with a high ratio of enterable buildings to non-enterable ones, some towns/villages are just a complete waste loot-wise. If your goal is just to play a quick game stick to big coastal cities, and remember zombies only become aggroed by players so if you hear a zombie shout or see any white peripheral dots moving quickly, best guess is they're caused by another player.
