Yeah, uninstall both from Steam, and the delete the Arma game folders from your steamapps folder. Everything goes.

16GB of RAM, for what purpose? :D Professional movie editing maybe? Pfft. I'm on a 2500K, GTX 570 and 4GB and I'm getting rock solid 60fps with 1680*1050, all set to Very High except antialiasing and postprocessing which is disabled. Your computers are just full of crap or you're getting memory bottlenecks with 32bit operating systems.

Thanks for your input, but after death via Respawn button I still spawn on my male character with camo clothing, this is why I cannot create a new character.

I have read every thread about the same problem and the only "fix" I could find was a very far-fetched one involving a ghillie suit which my friend does not have. Plus, it's completely free to post here, I have nothing to lose. I know the devs aren't too active here, but at least in theory there's a bigger chance for me to redeem my character than just forget it. I'm looking forward to the next patch if it fixes anything.

I'm not too familiar with Arma, but you don't need those files for DayZ and DayZ may reject you for having those files. Uninstall your game and remove the target modifications ("-mod=..."). Install Arma II and Operation Arrowhead. Run Combined Operations and exit. Download and open DayZ Commander. From the Versions menu, download and install the latest beta patch and mod version. From Settings menu, check both boxes under "STEAM SETTINGS".

Just reporting back - no success. I got on the map, but the server restarted or somehow crashed, anyway - once I got back in the game I was yet again in the debug zone. Some helpful developer: would you mind reseting my character? There's something really wrong....

I have already died several times, and when a player spawns in the debug zone he does not get hungry nor does he get thirsty. Actually I just run an hour, made it to the map, let's just see if it's worth my while...
