Current situation: It is very easy to get dirty wounds, which results in your character "uhh"ing and "ahh"ing every few seconds, being generally annoying and if left untreated leading to death. This can be cured by using alcohol tincture, which spawns quite rarely and mostly in high-risk places like hospitals. Suggestions: Include regular alcohol bottles in residential spawns (I imagine it would not be hard to find a house with a bottle of vodka in it in Russia). Increase tincture spawn rates (wound cleaning liquids are a common household item) Include tincture in medikits (they almost always do contain things like that) Alcohol could be made to have a variety of special effects later on, but this would make the game world more believable and help with a very common issue.

We had one at Balota that at its best had probably 11 people involved in it. The fun was a bit ruined by three guys who combat logged into the jail building because their buddies got wrecked.

It refers to those situations where the other guy has done you no harm, but you're pretty sure they would if you gave them a chance. Like the time I spotted a sniper on top of the buildings near Balota taking shots at the airfield. I had to guess I would have bitten a bullet as well if I'd gone there, so I served him some 5.56's. I do feel sort of bad about the murders though, even though they got me totally geared up after I had my character wiped. In about 20 minutes from east coast to Balota I was totally geared up after killing two guys. The third got killed by his friends weapon in my hands. I felt like an a**hole.

About 15 so far in standalone. Blatant murders: 3 Self defense: 5 Pre-emptive self-defense: 3 Bigger firefight: 4 Not counting any fresh-spawn fistfights, hatchet frenzies etc.

I dont rightly know, and the Wiki does not mention this either. Getting sick from food or poison can cause blood loss, I dont know how infected wounds affect your character. I was able to find a bottle of alcohol tincture (in the hospital at a military base), though I had to kill one guy to get it :) -

I tested out the M4 from the knee to 500 meters with the ACOG. It's definitely possible to hit, although it seemed like the spread was close to 0,5m diameter at that range. (fired about 50 shots, I had a friend close by to see where the actual bullet hit. I'm sure that's mostly due to the sway from shooting from the knee though - with a bipod I think I would have been more accurate. -

I have clocked in 65 hours and have yet to see alcohol, besides tincture, and tincture only in hospitals. And if you read my post you may understand that I refer to alcohol that can be used for sterilizing wounds. Not beer or the likes. For the guy saying that this is Alpha and spawn rates are not perfect - Yes I completely get that, this is a suggestions board, no? -
The shotgun hits work perfectly fine, but the aiming is wonky; the aim is actually quite a bit lower than the white aiming circle on your screen. If you aim through sights it should work perfectly well from even 10m away.

How would the shotguns be any different from the Revolver?

There are no people in the world for whom a revolver is reliable combat weapon at 50m range. 15 meters is more like it, and even then hitting with a revolver from 15 meters at a moving target while being shot at? I was fully kitted for most of my previous 50 hours of playing time, only having been killed twice (apart from intentional suicides as freshies and deaths from falling through building walls) and pretty much instantly being regeared due to helpful teammates. I had my character wiped 4 times though. After the rollback, I spawned in as a bleeding freshspawn, near death. Just my luck that I get rolled into a dying character :P Doesn't matter though, I thought it was hilarious. I managed to find a shotgun, get to the new city, enter a building and then got killed by a staircase. Alpha survivors 2014, never forget.

So I had my character wiped yesterday and sent to the coast as a fresh spawn despite the fact I did not most certainly die. Logged out in woods Logged back in Only saw light blue on the screen Changed servers --> I am now a fresh spawn Changing servers after this did not change anything. I spawned probably 45 mins of running from my corpse, so no way I could make it there in the 10 min timeframe we have. I did not see this reported anywhere, so I might as well report it here. Could it be that some random disconnect lag somehow killed me, and I was spawned on the coast? Or an admin killed me? Or maybe I joined a private hive, spawning fresh, and the game couldn't handle it? Any advice on how to avoid this is appreciated, I dont mind dying and losing my gear but random wipes are just... depressing.

What are your thoughts on camping snipers at Balota?

Here's an idea for gearing up: You've seen the video of where people camp with snipers. Run to that village north of balota, get a revolver/axe, wait for gunshots, climb a building, axe a sniper --> geared up. This is all hypothetical for me of course since I only go to Balota at night, and even then only if I have a firearm. -
I get graphical glitches sort of like this when I log on, going to the Video options fixes it right away.

We had a great day yesterday, with 6 people on. One of the guys went out of their way to find me, IV-bag me and set me up with some medical supplies. After that we had a pleasant lootin' stroll around the island. Recommended for fun! -
Before you read, this is not a rant post and I do like this game. Stay cool. So, I just went unconscious from hunger with two cans of food in my inventory. I had no can opener. I did have an axe, a wrench and a rifle with ammo. I am fairly certain one would not die of hunger in this situation, can opener or no. And cans are fairly easy to open without a can opener by just rubbing them on concrete. Video: So, I'd say opening cans could be made easier, for realism purposes.

We encountered that before, a godmode-enabled guy running with an M1911 doing one-shot kills. Since we are not pussies we didn't alt-f4. All died though :/

I dont get what problem people have with tents not destroying properly? I mean, if you had a tent full of guns and ammo, the stuff there would hardly break if somebody took it down with a hatchet. What people are complaining about is, actually, not having the ability to completely pulverize items in seconds. This mod is aiming to be a simulation, get over it.

I agree with you completely. Without bandits there would be none of those awesome moments when you learn to trust a random person, adventure with them and actually feel sad when they die. If there would be no PvP adventuring with a person you dont know would not be a big thing. When you know that they could kill you at any moment, and you'd lose all your progress - thats when this game gets interesting. I think the kind of bandits that people have a problem with are the "I dont care if I die, I can always run back to my tent and dupe all my equipment back"-types. Going back to your boardgame analogy, they would be the ones that play with no risk and no reward, other than the weird pleasure they get from disrupting someone elses game. Kind of like a random guy who spills juice on your nintendo, then goes and plays with his own. -
Do bandits put people off the game?

Bandits are the best part of dayz, but by bandits I mean players who kill players for equipment. Players sitting on a hill sniping people with their duped AS50, with no intent to loot the bodies they make really break the immersion of this game for me. Go play regular arma if you want to be a sniper! -

Ever heard a silenced m4a1? Nope, you dont, cause you can only hear it about 30m away. So, the guy you killed had a friend who shot you with a silenced m4a1. I can headshot reliably with that from 200m. You'll never know what hit you. -
Should we remove barbed wire in the next update

Please dont remove it, creating defensible outposts is next to impossible without it. A better fix would be to allow it to be removed with a hatchet, but it would make a lot of noise. -
