For Those of You Complaining About Artifacts..

Any idea how to flush the video memory in DayZ/ArmA 2 if I don't have a Numpad?
  2. The same thing happened to me three days ago. I'm not sure how far I was from the coast, but I could barely see the outlines of the land at the horizon. I think I swam for about 1 hour and just when I was hoping that hunger and thirst might kill me, I hit the coast near Balota (actually, it took me at least 10 minutes to get to the coast after I saw the first dark shadows in the distance). My temperature had dropped so low that I got an infection, I was coughing, shaking and slowly loosing blood, I was hungry and thirsty, but I was alive. I managed to find food, water, a heatpack and even some antibiotics in a military tent in Cherno. But my blood was so low that I constantly fell unconscious and as I was almost blindly running through Cherno, desperately trying to find something to eat or hunting equipment, someone shot me. Long story short: If you can see the outlines of the mountains, just try swimming towards the coast. I think it takes 1 to 1.5 hours and in the worst case, you'll just starve to death (but at least you'll be able to start a new game at the coast). Protip: Put something heavy on your W key so that you keep going without having to spent all the time in front of your computer.

    Stuck on setup complete

    Try this: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/68304-stuck-on-setup-completed-please-wait/page__st__140#entry770987
  4. This fixed it for me: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/68304-stuck-on-setup-completed-please-wait/page__st__140#entry770987 TL;DR: Try playing on the Server DE 287. You should spawn at the coast. You can walk a little bit around, log out and join any server you want. The problem should be solved after that. I have no idea WHY it worked, but it did work for me and several other people.
  5. OH. MY. FUCKING. GOD! It works! You saved my life. And if I ever meet a guy called Legi0n in DayZ, I'll give him all of my loot.
  6. I don't get it. Do I just have to connect to the server up to the point where I see the list of other players or do I have to start playing, sit through the loading screens until I spawn in the debug plains and then disconnect?
  7. That must really suck. I got DayZ about two to three weeks ago, so I had at least a little time to play the game. It was good while it lasted. Too bad it broke, because I think I was finally getting the hang of it. Knowing where to find loot, getting an idea of how close you can move to zombies without being noticed, developing some strategies for survival, learning how to spot other players before they spot me.
  8. I have no idea what could be done about the extremely long loading times at the "Setup Completed, please wait..."-screen, but couldn't you fix the spawning in the debug plains by checking the player's coordinates every time he spawns in the game? Just one simple check if the coordinates are within the map. If not, teleport him to one of the spawn points at the coast.
  9. Probably because it doesn't fix the problems, only the symptoms. I agree that it is annoying to be unable to play the game for days and weeks when the devs could fix my game in like 20 seconds (given that the problem is indeed corrupted hive data). But they would have to keep fixing everybody's character data every time it gets fucked up. It's probably easier to find to root of the problem and solve it once and for all. At least that's what I tell myself when I cry myself to sleep every night. The "good" thing is that the number of people with this problem only increases because hardly anybody manages to fix it on his own. I know it's an evil thing to say, but I hope that a lot more people get this problem so that somebody will have to do something about it. If you still care about your character, you are clearly not desperate enough yet.
  10. Thanks, man. I hope you guys figure something out. More and more people (including myself) are getting stuck on "Setup completed, please wait..." (or the debug plains after 20-30 minutes of waiting), thereby being unable to play the game at all. It's good to hear that the devs are aware of this and are trying to fix it.

Setup completed , please wait ... fix !

Unfortunately, the biggest problem to most people here is not being spawned in the debug plains, but being stuck at a black screen with nothing but the HUD and - as if to mock you - the message "Setup completed, please wait..."

Setup completed , please wait ... fix !

Same problem. After the loading screen, I get to "Setup completed, please wait..." and nothing happens. Sometimes, when I wait for a very long time (more than 20 minutes), I get spawned in the debug plains. Respawning doesn't help. It's been like this for two or three days. I hope someone comes up with a solution to this problem. Here's what I've tried so far: Waiting - Sometimes, after 20-30 minutes, I spawn in the debug plains. After respawning or logging out and back in, the problem's still there. Restarting DayZ, restarting my computer - Didn't help. Reinstalling Six Updater / Six Launcher / Play withSIX and DayZ (1.7.2.5, I think) - Didn't help. Starting DayZ with DayZ Commander instead of SIX - Didn't help. Creating a new character profile in DayZ main menu - Didn't help. Pushing every single button on my keyboard while waiting - Didn't help, but I noticed that I can open the inventory with G. It's completely empty, though. Hitting the keyboard against my head - Hurt, but didn't help. I hope the devs give this problem a higher priority. I know there are many annoying bugs that need to be fixed, but this one isn't just annoying - it makes the game completely unplayable for some of us.
