Respawn - Do you want to ?
break replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I've done this, in a ghillie suit, with a silenced m4 and an m24 rifle. After 9 days. went to click on video settings and hit respawn! felt sick! -
So...after being alive the past 2 weeks and having all the gear I ever dreamed of I was sniped yesterday near Kabanino and spawned back on the coast for the first time since this latest update. And....wow how things have changed. No more makarov shootouts over a tin of beans.....instead this happened. http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/595848151465708890/448CE96AE3C239BC27DB028113AE59D383AD5624/ There were 10 of us....yes 10 helping each other out and I'd say 60% using mics. Brilliant stuff.... Also, I've made the journey from the coast to the north 5 times now, its difficult, and some zeds do have super vision but its not that hard and ten times as much fun! Dont know what all the hates about! I love it.

I've had an m24, 2 107's and an as50 in the past 2 weeks. I've never cheated on any game I've played and wouldn't know how to dupe things. All these have come from players I've killed or downed helicopters. The barracks at nwaf and berezino have been awful! empty cans and makarov ammo at best!

Killed 2 dudes at stary this morning from 700m away with my AS50. Easy stuff. They were in the middle of nowhere, crouched and one was even sat there with his binoculars out. Easy prey. You need to steak the place out for a good 10 minutes, listen for gunshots or check for anything moving. Normally, if there's someone there, and your far enough away they'll trigger the zeds to spawn. Kind of a cheap way to see if someones in the area, but it works. I wouldn't go anywhere near Stary without binoculars, and a rifle or sniper rifle. Unless you have no gear at all and don't mind being shot. Enter through the tress either from the north, south east or west to have the best chance of concealment. Ideally have 2 overwatch snipers to cover you from both sides, and a rifleman to go in with you. I totally disagree about taking any of the NVG's or sniper rifles out. They should add more in if anything, but cut down the chopper spawns.......every man and his dog has high end gear now! Good luck.

man, when I first read this I thought people were sending out "bat like signals" with their torches....

Is there a name and shame thread for this..... I'd just like to say; To Koen....who I plugged about 50 times at the deer stand east of Novy and Alt F4'd on me earlier on today, you sir are a loser...I hope you died and timed out on the next server you joined. I tracked you for 10 minutes, even in your ghillie suit. Shit for brains.

Unluckiest Thing That Happened To You?
break replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Was alive for 12 days. 9 Murders (the majority were bandits as they shot at me first). Had a ghillie suit, the biggest backpack with an M24 in for long range kills, and a silenced M4 for short range/zeds and a glock pistol, plus the usual blood bags ect. Was shot at kabanino attempting to give a friend a transfusion at stary. It was my own fault, ran into an open field and was sniped by an awesome shot to be fair to whoever it was. Anyway started again, got back to novy and snuck up on some random dude. Shot him in the church. On him was a silenced M4, AS50 rifle, 2 sets of night vision, 2 GPS and the huge backpack. With glee I skipped into the town shooting zeds with my silenced M4, picked up a ghillie suit to fully complete my amazing comeback and boom....OCEAN. I lost everything.......again. -
its found at chopper sites. not hacked.

Have any newbies experienced any armed guys escorting them from the coast to the forest yet? I've been thinking about heading down to the coast and killing the bandits shooting newly spawned players, and helping them get off the coast as a kind of hired gun. I'm trying to think if there's a mechanic which could reward the morally "good" players for doing this. Obviously the newbies have nothing to offer equipment wise, but maybe we could acquire a different skin once we've helped a certain amount of guys off the coast. Maybe some amour to protect us from ambushes and bandits, or a bigger distance the direct channel can be used at to communicate with people better? (Bandits would get a lower distance). Basically policing the coast, and gaining some kind of reward from it, rather than all out banditry. I may even try this later this week, and see how long I can survive....
-
It is a game afterall, just an idea for a mechanic to reward players. Im gonna head to the coast tonight and try it out anyway. Hopefully you'll be there and I can kill you, if you're murdering survivors. :)

The removal of the bandit skins has had an impact on this. If I saw a survivor skin I'd always ask if they were friendly before shooting, bandit I'd just fire or stay well clear. The removal of side chat on most servers has added to banditry too. Using direct chat or the heartbeat sensor means you have to be on top of someone for it to work, by which time its normally too late for one of you. Another thing, dare I say... is that DayZ is getting a tad boring just surviving. (I still love it BTW). However, myself and a well equipped team mate took out a squad of 4 the other day at stary sobor. It was so intense and nerve racking, I've never had a feeling like it playing any other game. As soon as I see another player now my heart rate shoots through the roof, so maybe engaging them is the more exciting option, rather than teaming up? Just my thoughts anyway.

Weeeey! Spotted this little beauty west of guglovo yesterday and found an L85A2 rifle, takes stannag ammo I believe. Its awesome down the sights. http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/595847963208642294/051CA88AC52D5BBD8B4A7A80474A6F3CBFC6DD94/ http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/595847963208632842/0345F6F73C9B7B67FFCEFC03995E58E3337A3B32/ I also found an SVD camo at the nwaf barracks but no ammo. :(

Found another chopper last night behind Stary Sobor. It had 3 FN FALS with ammo and a Bizon SD without ammo. woop

Yes I am a bandit...but believe me I don't want to "salvage your shit." You would having nothing I need. And to run all the way to go knows where to kill you....why would I do that?! Like I said, I used to be a friendly, who never shot unless shot at... but got burned too many times. (I've been playing this for 6 weeks now). I feel a little bad now, so I was wanting another kind of challenge. I just think it would be really cool running across the map to help some random guy I've never met before. But alas, you're thinking the worst of us, which Is exactly the attitude which turned me into a bandit in the first place. Hope you manage to get out of your situation.
-
where abouts are you? we could set up a meeting point and arrange a time and server? I would be bringing 3 other dudes with me, we have 5 bloodbags between us and are armed to the teeth so any funny business and you're dead. I've killed a lot of dudes recently and I'm beginning to feel bad. something like this would be a great challenge and a kind of a mission for us to undertake. no trades, would just enjoy the challenge. :-)

I have no idea if this has been mentioned before, but why don't you guys introduce a mechanic to bury stuff in the ground. Camping tents are too easy to spot atm, and if I were in a zombie apocalypse I wouldn't be hiding my stuff in a tent! If you've already found the entrenching tool, you good bury simple supplies like beans/water bottles/ammo ect. Each hole could carry 4 slots, and leave a little "mole hill" so they are still detectable to players but are more concealable than tents. Im running with an M4SD and M24 atm and its a pain in the ass managing food/water/ammo/bloodbags etc. I know, I know, I have a lot of stuff and this is dayz, but I still think it would be cool to bury some stuff in a safe place in case you ever got low on food/ect. OBV stuff like weapons/raw meat couldnt be stashed. Just a suggestion. :)

I'm happy with what I have. just a suggestion. I love this mod. you're right about me not searching though.

Yeah we've come across loads, but never any loot and this is the first one I've seen smoking. We've heard the fire before, but never seen smoke. Oh it was on the 1.7.1 update.
-
Ive played in a group of 4 now for 6 weeks....we've never found either NVG's or GPS in the barracks or at any military camp, but we have looted both off dead players. Currently 1 of our group has both NVG's and GPS and another 2 have GPS only.

Ok so me and a few friends play this a lot, and I for one am not a fan of the heartbeat indicator. Its....just annoying. A friend currently has 14 murders to his name and everytime I look at him I get the heartbeat sensor going off like a loud drummer! Today we came up with an alternative. Dog tags. I know you're thinking COD / Battlefield, but hear me out. Everytime you kill a player and loot the corpse you collect a dogtag. You wont be able to see dogtags, but you will be able to hear them. The more you collect, the louder the jangling sound will be. So its not like a "collect"a"thon" and something to be proud of like in BF or COD. In Dayz it actually hinders the players making them jingle and jangle around alearting nearby players, and even more worryingly zombies! However, if you dont loot the player you killed, you dont pick up the tags or the jangling sounds, but obviously dont get the rewards of looting the corpse. Any thoughts on this? Just thought I'd share it. I'd also like to say I love the 1.7 update. No problems with it here.

The heartbeat thing is just another version of the bandit skin. If Rocket thinks that the skin was imperfect, then so is the heartbeat. Not really a penalty, just an indicator of your humanity. Yeah I agree with that tbh. I honesly dont mind either options. I loved hunting for bandits when the skins were on, and now I kill on sight if someone head towards me. If they dont I dont bother them. I suppose what im saying is I dont like the heartbeat mechanic. I think its pointless atm.
