  1. Consolidated Community Survival Guide: Vol 1 (---------work in progress---------) Welcome to the CCSG: Volume 1 (Consolidated Community Survival Guide). If you were to wake up on a breach in Chernarus after drinking all the whiskey in land and found yourself in a zombie uprising this would be the one reference you would need to survive. n.b. Mission Statement This guide is the communities guide.... Index to the Guide (important) Looking for a wide range suggestions from: * how to layout the guide in user friendly manner * links to relevant information. * suggestions for what content specific sections you want covered I would like firmly say I am not seeking credit where it is not due. Each individuals work will be fully cited with direct reference to them, so we can fully see their contribution to DayZ and let them claim their much owed dues. Summary

Blood splatter on clothes to tell humanity?

Blood splatters from hundreds of meters away ... any random rule that gives an indication to the particular dispoistion of a player is a bad idea. People need to judge players by observation, recon and their behavior. In context of DayZ anything other than observation comes dangerously close to a class system, these rules are a detriment to dayz.

    DayZ(RP): Robbery Denied!

Yeah that is a sure way to go about not getting any.

    thigh/bra holster

A concealed carry system (be it in pockets, backpacks etc) would be a good addition. Add the ability to search players for their stuff if you want to fully releive them of their weapons.

    Cant understand KOS moaners :s

    A solution was never needed.
  11. I found some NZ/AU servers, public (unfortunally my havn't updated to any patch), had a run in with a DMR firing 20mm projectiles! And TP hackers, great!
  12. It's not that good tbh (but this is due to unexpected errors with zombies)...and vanillia servers are thin on the ground. All the challenge of 1.7.7 zombies has been replaced with pre 1.7.7 zombies so aggro is very boring but you have this combined with wierd zombie spawns, low loot. Nothing is getting the pulse racing. Bah..i'm thinking of a way to say it..I dunno there is some type of dissonance that i can't quite put my finger on, a few exmaples *The zombies can pretty much be circled strafed as in prior patches (been knocked over once, hours of play) *Loot is a bit thin so people can't PvP as easily? Which they might want to do because there is nothing else to do given the vacuous AI which, despite glitches, in 1.7.7 meritted teamwork or thought * In saying this loot is thin on the ground but no so much that you are under pressure (only for particular inventory items, matches, knives etc) *Non-threatening zombies BUT zombies that thwart the player but spawn/camp on loot, it's cheap *Zombies are boring so you don't feel the need to kill them or be challenged by them Pretty much it's the zombies fault! We have a world that suggests it's scary (low loot, chance of death, zombies) but it just isn't hard and leads to bordedom. At least 1.7.7 made me run for my life. 1.7.7.1 is flat.

Beat me to the punch line ;) ...be so damn funny when people clag and actually get tired from running! (then get eaten by z)

    Cant understand KOS moaners :s

That is unfortunate for you! I have had all manner of experiences from being held captive and escaping, teaming with bandits, once betrayed by a hero, these people are out there (just look at any of my videos) Heck today i found an AFKer and didn't kill him despite him having superior weapons and a loaded backpack. Just keep looking. The good friendly people are probally more prone to paraonia and fear. You might also be missing one aspect. Plenty of people will be aware of, might even aim at you, but lots of people won't shoot at you. You'll just never know you weren't shot at. Cold comfort but it's true. I have a tendancy to help people but i've passed over way more people than i have helped.

    DayZ(RP): Robbery Denied!

Ahahhahahahahahahahaha....ohh man, that insult, i cannot even begin to fathom his rage. Beans for all :) -meh edit- not KOS on server? :( still funny though

Skimming over i agree with what you said but i fail to understand why you don't understand why people complain about KOS. People loose their stuff and get butthurt. It's a pretty easy concept to understand.

    SA Shoe idea

Spikes are good for racing -field athletics- and thats about it. Spikes have horrible traction on most other surfaces, i know because the only time i've fallen and injured myself was with spikes and i spit my chin open. Footwear with the right characteristics is good, for exmaple *Joggers-marginally faster, quiter on hard surfaces, less durable *Generic boots -marginally slower, louder impact on hard surfaces, but more durable *Hunting/military boots, quiet, durable

Cannibalism and drinking your own urine

Fucking Bear Grylls, distributes horrendous survival advice (downright dangerous advice) for viewership where no serious survival advice, manuals or studies back it up. Drinking piss is about the worst thing you can do. Might as well drink salt water. You might get one drink out of your pee but it all depends. If you have not hydrated thoroughly there is a concentrated build-up of nitrogen, calcium, potassium, electrolytes, sodium (which dehydrates) and acids (you know all that harmful waste you were trying to piss away). Not to mention most of the episodes are fraudulent /gylls rant done (ps he really is a cunt, pancake breakfasts, fake bear attacks, falsifying locations, smoke machines, he is a clown that duped a lot of people) Cannibalism hell yeah! I'd love me some kuru, so long as the flesh is cooked right.

Anyone noticed zeds 'camping' loot spawns?

And we agree it should be changed. :) Consensus!

Anyone noticed zeds 'camping' loot spawns?

Sure but only if you think a person is incable of dying close to supplies or a zombie is incable of randomly wandering there. Say they took shelter in a house or any enterable building and never got out? It's pretty easy to imagine someone being injured -> seeking shelter with supplies->dying->now a zombie is on the loot. Zombies spawning on every loot pile is a bit silly and i've experienced that (In the corner of industrial sheds is a bit silly) a good mix would be welcome. A house that contains more zombies could have better loot. The more survivors that died in one place stands to reason that they were holding up there for a reason.

    simple good idea for mod

-opps- but why waste a reply? check out this speech with epic insults from coriolanus, just saw it, it's amazing! how i feel sometimes

    simple good idea for mod

The only spawn i dislike is on the small island...kemenka, otmel etc...are great. Kemenka to North is one of the best yielding spawns in terms of safety and the sheer loot potential. And if you spawn on the far East side of it you have Balota and Cherno close by. But hey! Im all for freedom of choice...i think a suicide option is going to be added no? bwahaha im so relaxed i did not feel the need to rally an insult...well called sir, well called

Anyone noticed zeds 'camping' loot spawns?

That to me constituted a joke at close to 2.30 in the morning...it was an awkward attempt

Anyone noticed zeds 'camping' loot spawns?

To the OP and others it's no bug...and it is challenging...but like all things it can be overcome. Use direct chat from outside (or just aggro them), give them a sam fischer whistle (or a noise of some kind but i've taken to the Chaos Theory whistle), they walk outside, then they run, then you circle back into the building and pick up the loot knowing that they can only walk indoors. Serious suggestion? It is and it works. To the OP isn't it obvious they know you want the loot, they know what it's worth, would you step aside if somebody came into your house armed with an axe stealing beans from you? For your childrens sake i hope not! But for the sake of discussion...why shouldn't zombies be on loot? Is it crazy to assume that survival minded surviors might have had loot close by before they died or succumb to infection? It makes the first weapon grab tense. I like the feeling of seeing a stupid zombie standing on axe. I outwit it and mush its head. Very satisying.
  25. Yes i'll clarifiy. As Inception says these two ideas are not mutally exclusive, they are perspectives but there are truths supported by history and the games experience. What is true is that cooperation will always trump the lone wolf in terms of power, specalisation, survivability. Being a lone wolf is fun but being a lone wolf is pretty much just that. You can certainlly have an effect on the world but your strength in no way compares to that of an organised group. Neither your resilience, longevity, physical capabilities, capacity to recover when injured. Any negative impact that can happen to a player is worse for a wolf. Teamwork on average is preferable, in a survival sense, to being a lone wolf. History shows this. The most consistentlly powerful, well armed, healed, healthy, equipped 'individuals' in DayZ are always part of a group. What is open for debatable is whether this means people will actually cooperate in a dynamic sense. It's not impossible to gauge player cooperation levels but nobody has tried. I suggest for obvious reasons that cooperation if attemped would benift people players beyond the short term gains they get from killing. BUT this is where we all diverge. Some people have a low tolerance for stress or a low respect for others. My experience (subjective) I certainlly felt the need to cooperate more in recent patches than i have for months because trying to meet all of my needs as an individual as a lot harder when loot is scare. I found plently of surplus stuff but particular items eluded me. I was part of a clan for one week. Never again...not my style...but even that causal brainless clan could horde more shit than any of us could ever use...and they always will this as close to a DayZ truth as you will get.
