Trade skills, Experience with said skills and Profession.
Bratalise posted a topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
So I love Dayz but right now its really just a race to end game gear then what? be bored maybe drive around a little get a good spot and snipe someone that's walking around. This is something that even if it had a lot of support probably would have to be added in the stand alone. An Idea could be to add trade skills, professions, and your passed life pre Zombie apocalypse to the game for example you spawn in you get a small window that reads (Select what your character was doing per-apocalypse) Mechanic Gun Smith Medic Ex-convict Police Officer (Make a suggestion for other things these are just some I doodled down on my way home from work today) Now before your read all that I want people to know once you pick something it doesn't mean your stuck with that role maybe you could find a book of automotive repair and read it therefore you are now skilled in lets say medicine and a little in car repair. So maybe the only way to be able to start a new skill along with your current is to find the book which will be pretty rare since the spawn can be quite low (maybe because the temperature and exposure to whether effects ruined a lot of the books) However I'm currently unsure whether dieing in game would reset your skills or you could choose to carry them over. I'm currently leaning towards carrying over mostly because people would be to afraid to approach someone in town and risk getting killed and lose their characters knowledge. However on the other hand if everyone spawned new and had no current experience then they wouldn't be so afraid to die since their is no work in their character thus this would allow players to meet people and slowly build a trusting group therefore leading to a more competitive end game experience with groups of players roaming around instead of a clan here a clan there and a lonely guy with a sniper rifle. Mechanic: (Could repair vehicles easier possibly jury rig something until necessary parts arise) Gun Smith (If guns ever have condition issues he could possibly repair them with scrap) Medic (Could help heal bones possibly use bandage and wood to make a splint and a crutch) Ex-convict (more of the lone wolf/bandit person feels much less remorse for doing bad things such as killing and stealing) Police Officer (Increased accuracy with guns (good for bandits but also heroes)) A good way to increase your characters skill would be finding books Dev team could possibly add a library so its another building to loot or the player could just do what their chosen role is best at. (Book of medicine) - Spawns inside hospitals (Guide to gun repair) - spawn inside Industrial places (Guide to Automotive repair) - also spawns in industrial factories (How to handle weapons for dummies) - military loot spawns maybe rarer spawns in civilian places (Memoirs of a madman)- Spawns in civilian spawns but perhaps dev's could add a jail house that could have the prisoners diaries. I think that maybe lower levels should sustain lower things such as Gun smith that just spawn cant repair an AS50 right away without a high risk of botching something and breaking the gun Medic that just spawned cant treat a shattered leg without a high risk of making it worse and possibly severing an artery cause the player to bleed to death. Police officer cant handle the big guns right away (obviously would be one of the easier classes to use since all you have to do is shoot but maybe if they added some of the zombie suggestions this character could be better) Mechanic's cant just find a car and repair the engine without the necessary high risk of completely disabling the car (maybe a more seasoned mechanic could fix this but only them) Ex-Convicts (im not to sure what theirs could be) maybe they could have a small insanity factor they would worry about their family if they had one but after awhile they could just kill people or go find a book and come to terms with it and use the rage against others. (leave a suggestion) I think this would possibly give more of an incentive to group up with people, However you would be unable to see what roll they pick that way if someone is following a group they wont be able to just pick off their medic they'll maybe have to track them and watch them and see which one is which. So it will also give more of a thrill for bandits to kill someone instead of now where it's "oh look there's some one *bam* *bam* done" and then they just move on. This would possibly help curb death matching with players where its just "someones in the grocery store better just shoot and kill them" It may not fix this but people will probably be more cautious if they see a group of 3 guys rolling around and maybe save those bullets for something else other than a Mexican stand off and try to talk the group into taking them in. If you read the entire thing which I recommend you to do before commenting just because I want this to be seriously debated and not just shot down by someone saying "No to complex" I think this is a realistic idea and makes sense that the survivors actually use knowledge from there per-apocalypse lives. -
If you haven't died a single tiem to a sniper you either haven't been playing the game that long or your running around in a forest and going no where near the major cities or NW Airfield, and that sir is the most boring way to play the game.

Heroes should get fuck all like the rest of the damn world.
Bratalise replied to Outypoo's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
You're an idiot they don't get perks...They get to slightly sprint for a longer time but if that makes you QQ then don't play for a long time when it's not in Alpha version. -
Because it's the most unrealistic crap in Dayz. No one in the world is a cook/mechanic/pilot/medic/scout and so on. I know the game shouldn't be 100% realistic but this a is a big deal. This needs to be in the game That way people will connect to their characters and value life. Plus it will give people something to do get your characters skill up then go do whatever if you die you'll have to restart all over again.

Well i can see run faster but everything else i don't know about, plus it should make your thirst go down faster, Pepsi coke mt. dew should all make your thirst go down faster.

So .50 caliber sniper I.E. As50 M107. Lets say you find one, well your a survivor and unless your character is either militarily trained, or a crazed gun enthusiast (which in my opinion probably would be one of the first kinds of people to get eaten since they'd go all guns a blazing and would probably get swarmed in a matter of seconds) then they probably don't know how to correctly hold/aim a gun of that size and power. Well my suggestion is if you get one of these weapons you can shoot it all you want but you risk the chance after each shot of your character going into pain, and we already know that pain pills cure that pain. There's a solution to this however and that would be to find a book (or something else maybe a manual to the weapon, a soldiers diary) that when read would allow your character to correctly hold the gun and fire more rounds successfully without going into pain. (I don't want it to be super rare but to find it you most likely should have to travel North towards the air field and check the military zombies/spawns along the way) I don't know what to do about Balota but its a suggestion you people figure it out. Now before people complain for some reason I am suggesting this so if some Cod kiddie finds a dead survivor that went through the long and difficult process of finding the sniper, the cod kiddie wont be able to just pick up the murder machine and shoot everyone in a city.

No you can like guns that fine i have my own but in my opinion if you own a .50 caliber sniper rifle your crazy for a good amount of reasons. There's no need to have it, you won't dare hunt with it. The only thing it's good for is killing, that's what it was designed to do.

I like this idea i think of course it would only work if the player is unconscious. I understand peoples arguments with its to restricting and player could get stun locked, However I want to say this Group the fuck up! There needs to be more risks besides getting eaten by a zombie if your alone you risk being knocked out tied up gun taken and left for dead. However I do think if someone has a knife the they should be able to cut out of the ties but it would be like a minute or 2 minute animation. (but the guy could steal the knife from your unconscious body and by then your Shit outta luck)

For sure. lol i expect deaths from heart attack to raise a lot in this game turn around one second then BAM zombie right there eating you...terrifying

Yeah people argue realism but psychologically people couldn't handle the pure stress and anger from having to survive, avoid survivors/zombies, and kill players. people would begin to go insane,

Vehicles=More Common Fuel=Less Common
Bratalise replied to Reaven1911's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I like it, should add a siphon fuel option so you can steal fuel from other players cars. -
I don't like it, for 2 reasons. 1. People don't turn into zombies from inhumanity they get bitten and turn. 2. This isn't what dayz is about its not a Player vs enemy game its a player vs player v enemy. Bandits are bandits not zombies

Rocket has said you can leave notes in the standalone with a pencil and paper. so close enough

Stats (like GTA or Skyrim etc etc)
Bratalise replied to malau (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I don't want any stats at all. Gives to much incentive to the Cod kiddies to rack up as much kills as possible -
People complain so much about realism but when it looks them dead in the face they say NO!, These perks are for realism there is no better damage with gun (there is with a cross bow but it makes sense) all it is, is your character who is surviving learning how to survive better. Everyone says there should be level playing ground but honestly is it really a level playing ground when someone like me whose been playing for 3 months runs into someone whose been playing for 2 days? Answers no by the way in case anyone out their thought of being a smart ass and saying yes. Reason its not level is you have a seasoned player fighting against someone who is 2 days in. Its like giving a Navy Seal and some random 21 year old a gun, they might have the same gun and be in familiar territory but honestly who do you think will win that battle?

larger buildings combat moves and more
Bratalise replied to apache25's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
First things first I don't like how you have all the loot numbered out with what building it should be in. Why should a store have 2 cans of Pepsi and frank and beans? its a zombie apocalypse and depending how long it has been since it started stores would be pretty much empty and most of the food rotten. Same goes for the military base, survivor base, and police station, I like Dayz cause its a random chance of loot some times you find a Makarov and sometimes you find noting at all. 1. Bigger hospitals yes, Rocket has talked about this countless times in interviews please go look at those interviews i feel like 90% of your topics he has already talked about. 2.Stores already have a lot of food and water, i agree with having more zombies lurking around but to have that it they will have to configure the zombie A.I. again which would take a it of time. 3.Police stations should be a lootable building but this is where another topic i found should come into play i think the doors of the police station should be locked so to get into it you have to find a cop that turned into a zombie to get the keys to unlock the door. 4. Military loot spawns are already common enough, I agree that the military would most likely set of those block but once the virus got worse they would most likely packed up and headed north towards the air field or an underground base. 5.I like your idea for abandoned survivor safe zones, but i don't think they would have to program them in. If they made zombie more like everyone is suggesting where they follow noises and move around as hordes then survivors that already have safe zones could be over run and than bam there's your abandoned safe zone with possible loot. 6.Survivor safe houses that are built underground are already going to be implemented, but they will be created by players and require generators and fuel. 7.Weather has been talked about countless times with rocket and on the forums, There will be more intense effects with more character customization. 8.Makes sense their would be evacuation points, I would like a chance of a spawned boat but that really all, it would be very risky since most people would have been trying to get out of the area so that place could be completely infested. I would love to have those areas especially if we continue to spawn along the coast. ( could also give are character a back story as they were on a boat someone turned and the boat crashed and you washed up on shore again. -
1. The zombie blood thing I don't really think will work all i have to do is kill a zombie put his blood all over me and there 10 minutes of free time then when I'm at 9 minutes kill another one and put its blood on me and i have another 10 minutes. 2. The car idea is good Rocket talked about this in an interview though so no point in making the suggestion. 3.There's already stores in the game and they contain a lot more food and such, if your talking about small villages there's food spawns in residential buildings. 4. Camping stores are a cool idea i would like to see those with canteens hunting knifes and a possible tent spawn. 5.Those abandoned military spawns would be highly sought after, with those many weapons i say no. However if they took out some of the static military loot spawns and made these as rare/rarer than helicopter crashes then possibly. 6. Player customization Rocket has already talked about this it will be implemented. 7. Players don't spawn with bullet proof vests, I do like the idea for them but there are huge topics about this idea. 8.More hand to hand combat is a good idea however more risk for damage from zombies. 9.Underground shelters are coming in standalone. Players will be able to create them and stock weapons in them. 10. I don't agree with your zombie ideas, Zombies if within range of gunshots should turn towards the way they came and begin to walk there if you drop a few of the zombie that just means your shooting more and more zombies are coming 360 degrees around you. Zombies should follow the sounds of Helicopters cars and gunshots so for example if a clan flies over Cherno and goes to the northwest airfield zombies that they pass over will begin to move towards the airfield thus creating a horde. Bonus i read what zeehond23 commented on and zombies being scared of gunshots wouldn't make sense, since zombies are just the reincarnated part of the cerebellum, and the hypothalamus. The cerebellum controls their movement while the hypothalamus controls hunger (I know this cause they move and bite those are the only functions they seem to have) The part of the brain that controls fear the Amygdala isn't infected so zombies don't feel fear or emotions.

wall of zombies sweeping west-east accross the entire map
Bratalise replied to timdl's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
There's lots of posts about hoards of zombie numbering in the hundreds. I like the idea but don't expect to see it in the mod, it will most likely be in the standalone -
Lol No.

Epi-pens are filled with Adrenaline which is also called epinephrin they keep people from going into anaphylactic shock.

I see everyone saying that servers can't handle the mass A.I. of zombies and as of right now that may be true but currently Chernarus is a huge forest and every single tree is scripted with destructible environment I.E. hit the tree with a tank its going to fall down. Now Chernarus has whole lot of trees id name a number but i just don't feel like i could name one accurately Each tree with this destructible environment scripting bogs the servers down immensely therefore the amount of players/zombie is very limited. If they were to remove all the destructible environment scripting from those trees Chernarus could hold 1000's of zombie A.I. Now I'm pretty sure they will do that with Chernarus plus since there is no reason to have all of those trees destructible. So all in all 1000's of zombies is possible without the server lagging to hell.

I like that idea. If I'm a hero and i kill badass bandit dude over there then my humanity should go up and vice versa if bandit over here kills hero savoir guy then he should lose more humanity. Win win take some beans Quick edit what if a bandit kills another bandit? does his humanity go down or up and by how much?
-
These are all things i expect to see in the standalone. I want zombies buffed, its a zombie survival game not a bandit survival game your biggest threat should be zombies, everyone should have to obey the zombie threat. Gunshots should attract zombies from all directions they shouldn't aggro but if you shoot something you better think of a way out before the Zed swarm you and eat you.

What kind of zombies should be in DayZ
Bratalise replied to Lights Out's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Actually in an interview Rocket stated that server in the stand alone would be able to hold upwards of 200-300 players, servers also can handle the mass A.I of zombie so having zombies in the 1000's wouldn't be to bad. One of the reasons they don't have that many is all the trees in chernarus, each tree is designed to be destructible I.E. crashing into it with a car or blowing it up make it react and fall down. If they made trees none destructible, servers could breeze through having thousands of zombie enabled at a time.
