  1. So bla bla bla, i see alot of suggestion threads with valid ideas (and not so valid ones), and, they're all good - but they're nothing revolutionary. Most ideas i see are to do with the humanity system and animals etc. etc,. EDIT: sorry i'm not trying to say my idea is incredible or anything - but instead of adding to gameplay it's changing gameplay, if you get me. I've noticed the issue in DayZ (or for me rather) is when you run into a building - and you see another survivor. Now the problem is, is that you will instinctively shoot, if someone runs into you, you'll shoot them, regardless of your moral views. Unless you've toned your instincts down like crazy, it's a problem - even if you play as a good guy, there's nothing you can do about it. Now i'm fairly sure in a Real-Life scenario, if another survivor bumped into you who WAS NOT frothing at the mouth, covered in blood and shouting gibberish you wouldn't whip out your gun and shoot the living shit out of them within 0.1 seconds of contact, now i understand DayZ isn't real life, and i'm assuming in RL you'd freeze for a moment so, using these facts i was thinking; The ability to play with your guns holstered, this should give you some proper benefit such as picking up items faster, or maybe you make noise when you pick up an item with a gun out, so if you don't have your gun out and you have two free you don't make any noise while looting and doing other shit. Again, i'm pretty sure in a RL scenario you wouldn't have your guns poised to shoot 24/7, even if zombies were near you and you were being sneaky - granted - you could do, and you should be given that option to have weapons ready all the time. But IMO i see it more logical to have weapons holstered while looting, or running in the forests/doing general activities or whatever. It's critical that having your weapons out while looting/doing passive stuff is a bad thing (if this was to be implemented) and it's more normal to walk around with weapons sheathed, giving you greater maneuverability and/or sound reduction or something like that. Also your survivor isn't some military trained specialist (he is currently, he can drive choppers and shit but) REALISTICALLY, i wouldn't have an AKM in my arms all the time since i'm a civilian and not some military soldier who dosen't feel comfortable without it. This way if you were to bump into someone you'd both be unarmed, and you'd both have to sling your guns out (or quickly pull out your sidearm) which gives reasonable time for those frantic "FRIENDLY FRIENDLY" moments, and if you are both friendly it can develop from there, rather one man killing the other, or one kills the other and the killer stays wounded - slowly left to die without morphine and whatnot. The second idea would be something along the lines of something REALLY obvious when you bump into someone to indicate if they're a bandito or good guy, or just a standard survivor. Now for the life of me i couldn't really think of anything apart from maybe a glow upon close contact with another, the colour of the glow indicating the player's moral status. Such as; you're looting and whatever inside a small building, man runs in, the first thing you see is the colour Whitey/Blue, this indicated a Hero skin - so you shout friendly friendly while NOT shooting him. However if that scenario happened again and you saw the colour Dark Red or something, you'd be inclined to shoot with (a fair amount) of reason because he's a serious bandit (not a 1 time kill one, like a 3-4 murderer) Seriously i couldn't think of an idea which is realistic for the second suggestion - so i'm open to your thoughts.
  2. Exactly, that's why the friend/foe interpretation, in close quarters, should be left to voice chat and physically showing you don't have a weapon out to shoot, such as being unarmed. Although if someone has a Hero skin you're pretty much garunteed he's friendly
  3. Your gentle nature and calm demeanor is what everyone else lacks. You can't change the hivemind by telling them to "stop squeezing the trigger", it's still going to happen. And hey, if you're remorseless but weren't looking for a fight, you just killed someone who bumped into you and now you have free loot. Bandit skins and Hero skins aren't easily identifiable within 0.1 seconds of contact, that was my whole point =/
