Type in "vanilla" on DayZCommander and join the -NOLA- server there. Pretty good server, only thing it has that public servers don't is side chat.

I have found one or two good private hive pure vanilla servers. -NOLA- and Random DayZ. Just type in "vanilla" on the search bar and you should get a good amount of servers. The only thing these servers have that is different from the public hives is these have side chat. Everything else is the same.

Removing the gear and keeping it for your own?

Mine has been a while, back when they still had L85s with the thermals. I ran around the west side of the map, scouring for tents and vehicles. Saw nobody.

Honestly. You go in, and somehow manage to find a hat, and have no need to ever take it off. I know it doesn't affect gameplay, but I still wonder how everyone managed to get a hat, the exact same color and shape, as everyone else, and why the felt the need to wear it.

Get high in Elektro and offer weed in the form of morphine and blood bags.

From Kamenka to Stary Sobor, back in 1.7.2. Found a heli crash with an L85AWS and M107. Took the L85, and crawled to Stary. Watched a person through my thermal and then somehow managed to add him on Skype. I also like going around with broken legs because you don't need to worry about standing up on slopes. 80* slope? Just climb straight up that.

Do a barrel roll above Cherno. Much more worth than some silly heli crash.

If I could figure out how to get bandicam to record in game, I could record. But whatever. My greatest shot has been the hills northwest of Stary Sobor, between it and the NWAF. Hacker had teleported everybody to random spots, and had given them all a medical box with an AS50, M4A1 CCO SD, M9SD, a lot of food/drink/med supplies, coyote backpack, and full equipment. I kept my M107, while my friend had an AS50. I linked up with my mate, who was nearby, and we proceeded to head on top of a small hill, because we saw zombies chasing someone. Prones in the bushes with ghillies, we saw another fellow running up the hill across from us. My mate told me it was about one click, and I zeroed accordingly. I lined him up, and took the shot. I missed the first, but hit him with the second. Me and my friend quickly moved before anybody could zero in on us. The guy I had shot had not been the one in the town, and that had me worried. We then proceeded down to Stary Sobor, where I got another kill after a sniper killed my friend. I then logged out for the day. Those were actually my first two player kills ever.

All the loot is located below the Oil Rigs, in the water, in case anybody wanted to know.

I do not believe they include the stats of Private Hives. Can anybody confirm this?

I can kill people but choose not to. Probably won't be getting on for a while anyways, though. Hooked on Terraria.

Define "knows how to play."

Ah. So DayZ probably contains well over 2,000,000 players?

The fog isn't always there, you know...I've been able to see for at least two kilometers before fog took its place before.

Looking forward to the radios. Any idea if the radios will make noise while on the ground, and not in your inventory?

So I have an idea. How about you try to survive by just looting corpses in Elektro? No killing, no talking to others, nothing except picking up loot and getting the best possible loadout you think you can get. Then post a screenshot/desc of what your gear is, and your story, if you feel like sharing it.
