Origins is free. Also, Origins is quite fun. I am finding it more fun then the dayztaviana.com verison, and the .eu version is dying, so Origins makes a suitable replacement.

Spawn at random, don't worry about PVP as much. INT001 is an epic server on it.

There is such thing as realism, and such things as taking it too far. I think 1.7.5 is taking it too far. Just simply make it so zombies don't despawn when they're chasing you, not activate the combat timer. And why should a player near you activate the combat timer? That ruins stealth so much.

Just got told from a friend that it is. This true, because several servers I know use DayZ.st.

I'm not updating, honestly. I don't like these updates for 1.7.5.

For my server, I don't even go on it much. I just stay on DART and ban/kick when I need to. I see where everybody is, and see if anybody is spawning with legit or non-legit gear, or spawning in vehicles. Caught two of those skiddies yesterday.

Just killed somebody who was shooting at me on Origins with an M4. Took him out with a crossbow. Any of you got some interesting kills with crossbows?

No. PVP servers are crap. Bandits I disrespect generally. Servers with a lot of vehicles are also crap. Gets rid of the sense that you are in the apocalypse.
