@james Houses could easily be inaccessible. If the people are designing the world, they could choose whether or not to advertise the layout of the house to the world. Nor does a house have to have anything in it valuable or advertising a persons name. You could design the world without letting people in your house, or letting people see what real furniture you have in there, it could be entirely your choice how you model a house. And if the house isn't yours, I'm sure someone could program a randomizer

Anyone with any experience playing The Darkness know what I was talking about earlier? I like post-apocalyptic games, but I would love to see something modern and creepy. The darkness felt sometimes like the streets were just empty and eerie, but the world was still there. If I could choose a time the game takes place, I'd actually prefer that the game take place just after the outbreak peaked. Nature hasn't taken over urban areas yet, and the zombie population is really high. The power is flickering in places and shut off in others. Buildings haven't toppled over yet, but the roads are littered with car crashes and corpses. Spontanious Idea... What if corpses actually decomposed as the game ages? Like when the standalone game first comes out, corpses and zombies look fresh, but after say, a few weeks, they start to show obvious signs of rotting, eventually leaving behind a skeleton by the end of the year, and then the cycle starts over for those who missed out on the initial fresh zombies.

Aside from the graphics and glitches and stuff... How does everyone feel about the art style? I love how things are at night, however depending on the sky, your eyes should be able to adjust to the dark just a little better. But I think the game could be a little scarier. I have played quite a few games in the past, and very few games have an overall sense of dread that would fit a zombie game. But one game I played actually felt perfect, and it wasn't even a horror game. Don't flame me for this, just think about it for a second. The Darkness. Ya the first one, not the cell shaded sequel. Not really the best game or anything, but the art style was so... Dark and brooding. The lighting at night just felt so eerie. Like it would have been so awesome for a zombie to stumble out of the dark. I know other people have agreed with me on the subject that the game was more of an action game but the lighting and art style actually felt like it would have made one of the scariest games ever if implemented correctly. Anyone else think the DayZ standalone should get a somewhat darker Art Style?

I've brought this up to people before, but not here. Many years from now, Google Earth will likely allow people to render their home towns. I think they should get the ball rolling now. And inspire people everywhere to render our planet. One way to inspire it would be to actually announce a AAA free-roam game that would use A future version of google earth, and the announcement could encourage people to render their towns and surrounding areas.

Maybe if we could like, use generators and fuel to power areas and such. Maybe not an entire town, but maybe you could attach a generator to a streetlight, and wire it to a house or something. As a beacon to attract survivors, and maybe there could be some other benefits of electricity.

Hammond just bought the forums. Welcome to Jurassic Park... Why has nobody ever made like, a good modern Jurassic Park game? Dinosaurs would work so well with survival horror. The Turok reboot can't be the best we have. :/

What type of game was/is/should it be?

If they were trying to convince us, why not make the pics focus? What's with all the blurry pics? What is this, Bigfoot? -
Character Customization: What Would You Like?
GlaciusTS replied to GlaciusTS's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Lol, elf ears. Any other Particular clothing items you'd like to see? -
So what would you like to see in the game? If you could create a character, without being too specific, how would you like them to look? I'd like the option of having less practical clothing, just something to make you look good, and maybe some articles of clothing that could actually be worn over tactical gear. And maybe we could have the option of covering some clothing in foliage as a way to camouflage ourselves. I want my dude to have Long black hair and Handlebars, sort of a metal hair look. I want to establish myself as the leader of a small group, so I want my character to look good. So I would love to be able to find a black Trench Coat in someone's closet and wear it over some tactical gear. And to have the option to add and remove foliage so I can be prepared for more dangerous tasks would be great.

What kind of zombies should be in DayZ
GlaciusTS replied to Lights Out's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Agreed, both are great for their own reasons. But I think we should have the option to choose either. I personally prefer undead, but for people with lower end computers or different tastes, Infected would be a better route. Like I said before, give us the option wouldn't be that hard. They'd need to Mocap new animations and add a torn flesh effect to randomise damage on the zombie models and tweak the damage so only headshots kill. And then some minor tweaking and balancing. I don't see why anyone wouldn't want the option to choose. Many of us would prefer the classic zombie experience, and this way you keep the infected. -
wall of zombies sweeping west-east accross the entire map
GlaciusTS replied to timdl's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
That wall would not be a wall for long. As they begin to run after each person, there will be large gaping holes to get through without being spotted. Then yno, you could hide in a building or on a roof when they walk by. -
What kind of zombies should be in DayZ
GlaciusTS replied to Lights Out's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
While I agree with varying speeds, I don't agree that any should run. Some should shamble while others can walk at a fast pace, but with decomposition setting in and rigormortis... no running, and their balance and coordination would be thrown off as well, not to mention all Dead bodies are very stiff. I think there should be multiple different speeds and walking animations, but none of them should be any faster than a weak injured man trying to walk fast. I love the idea of having injured zombies though. Some zombies should be missing chunks of skin in random places to represent where they were bit, and randomly zombies should also be found with bullet holes and large portions of their bodies eaten and even missing limbs. Maybe their chest cavity is wide open and their innards are dragging behind them. Along with that, zombies with broken or missing parts would be animated differently. If they have a broken foot, they slowly walk on their ankle as the foot drags, if the whole leg is broke or missing or have a broken back, they crawl, if they are missing an arm, their body will turn as they come at you so they can outstretch their single arm. Decomposition and missing flesh can have an effect too. Maybe the more rotten corpses sit still until someone approaches them (this could very scary at night, if your walking down a dark alley and you walk by a very dark corner, a horribly decomposed and near skeletal zombie could randomly lurk of if the darkness and try to grab you before falling over into a slow crawl.) There are tons of opportunities for variety without using sprinters or super zombies. Of you want something to move as fast as us or faster, why not throw in zombified animals and living predators? Zombified animals could likely move a lot faster than zombified humans, because their bodies are designed to move fast, even when injured. And with zombies living in both the forest and the cities, predators may be coaxed into moving into the cities to look for food, and with their food supply diminishing as a result of zombies, they may be forced to hunt us, even stray dogs and cats might see us as a possible meal if they could take us down in numbers. -

I feel like slower zombies make more sense, dead things have rigormortis. They should never be able to move as fast as us, but they can move a lot longer than us. Just make them a bigger threat by making bites infectious and making only headshots count. They could appear in greater numbers too. -
What kind of zombies should be in DayZ
GlaciusTS replied to Lights Out's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Why not give us the option? At the start of the game we can choose between Undead or Infected servers? I mean it would only be minor tweaks and it could be balanced. Infected run, but can be killed with shots to any part of the body and you don't die from a single bite. Appear spaced out in smaller groups. Undead walk, but they require headshots to die and a single bite could kill you. Appear in much larger groups but some strays can be found between groups to surprise you. It would only require some new animations and some tweaks in speed and body part health. Minor balancing ain't too hard. It's not that big of an issue if one mode is a little harder. -
Suggestions for the DayZ standalone - thinking outside of the limitations of an Arma 2 mod.
GlaciusTS replied to ruarz's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Give us the option at the start of the game to choose an outbreak type. Some of us prefer traditional undead zombies you have to shoot in the head over the infected.
