I'm incredibly old, that might make me seem elitist to younger folk. I apologise, it's not intentional. Well that's my opinion, you might not like it but i'm not going to apologise for it. I have read yours many times in the past and said nothing, most of the time because I agree. Most of the time. But fella, telling me to keep my playing preferences to myself because nobody gives a shit in the same sentence as your own playing preference is an oxymoron, and exactly what you seem to be calling pretentious nonsense. I was merely stating in my post that everything being complained about in the last patch can be worked around with a lot less effort than it takes to post complaints, and complaints about complaints, over and over again on this forum. You also seem to have completely missed the point I was making about third person, which is hackers prefer servers with everything enabled. Everything enabled means an advantage, an advantage means more players, as that is the playing style statistically most people prefer. Therefore, welcome to high population haxville. What's pretentious about that? The fact that nametags and third person allow you to see other players around and through objects when they can't see you OBVIOUSLY makes them exploits, this is irrefutable, whether they are part of the game or not, or if you or a million others like to use them in your playing style or not.

Ammo count was fixed for me since 2.5, my graphics bug is quickly and painlessly gone using the default/very high mem use fix in settings, I play on servers with third person and nametags set to 'off' (I consider these two especially as exploits) and have only seen hacking once when my favourite server (I won't say which but it is reliable and friendly) was down for updates and I had to play on a high pop UK server instead with everything enabled - and even that I survived through stealth and adrenaline. The unsaving loot issue is just another difficulty level. And get used to it peoples, when duping is fixed and hacked gear is stopped, you won't have a horde to fall back on. Hopefully also Rocket will implement gear vanishing on death too. Bring it on :) I like to play every game on the hardest difficulty straight off, I really don't see the point in lowering the bar to win, when all you do is compromise yourself. Treasuring the gear you carry is more of a buzz than knowing you can just sprint back to your stash every time you fail, it makes you try harder. So TRY HARDER. Workaround, people. Everything is doable, and still fun, if you have a modicum of patience and intellect.

It was said in jest, you know, as in with all the bugs n hackers n shit in the mod as it stands. Kind of like a joke. Sheeesh, clearly dry humour is lost on some. But hey feel free to jump right up onto the 'stop QQing' bandwagon, an insult paralleled only by NOOB in it's ingenious maturity and depth, it hasn't been said enough on this forum... hope somebody says it again soon before I run out of hankies. Oh and I had read the whole thing, without moving my lips even, it was a very interesting interview, thanks for the tip. I for one welcome our new standalone overlords, and am looking forward to losing my future social life to this game very much. TAKE MY MONEY DAMMIT

"...the standalone will have all the features that Day Z has now" I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Suggestions for the DayZ standalone - thinking outside of the limitations of an Arma 2 mod.

I have a question for the forum team / dev team if anyone is around. Is anyone in development actually reading and taking any notice of these ideas..? Just that I was halfway through a suggestion but then thought to myself 'what is the point if nobody is actually reading this', and gave up. Don't get me wrong, i'm not having a moan here. I have read loads of great ideas on this forum and still enjoy reading through it. But... From this old player's perspective, the forum is like an abandoned quarantine camp right now, or some kind of Frankenstein monster, shunned by the developers who created it, which does nothing to encourage feedback or ideas; I would love to contribute, but feel there is nobody listening. -
Made me laugh too, what a fat headed tit. In all the time i've played this game I have never found one of these, either on a corpse or in a 'random camp'. Guess that means I'm not that good and I suck. I am glad. I hope he got shot in debug.

I am currently on the coast near balota helping new spawners with zed / bandit control. I would track his ass down but I only play on servers without any of that nametag / 3rd person cheatery, so wouldn't know if whoever was in my scope was him or not. Still, tell me which server and approximate location you were killed and I may go a-huntin'.

Do you consider the mod playable any more?
6raham replied to oshi7's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
"Like the fly on a wheel who says 'what a lot of dust we're raising'... Are you under the illusion that you're part of the scheme?" Neil Peart DEAN HALL made Arma popular again, not us. He GAVE us a mod that blew us away, for FREE. He wrote the mod because it was a game he (and every gamer with an imagination) has been yearning for since the beginning of FPS. He wrote it for himself. He owes us NOTHING. He has every right to make a whole shitload of money from it, and I wish him every success. Yes the mod is now bugged to hell and riddled with scripters. I've lost my tents, and all the gear i've scavenged over the last few weeks. Now all I have is the gear on my back. Am I giving up because the rules have changed? Tonight I am heading for cherno packing all the firepower for the wicked and benevolence for the good that I have left in my alice pack. Perhaps I'll see you there. Bandits will die by my hand. Survivors will live by my hand. I will likely go out in a blaze of glory and leave my corpse to the zombies before an hour is up, and you know what? I'm gonna have a damn good time dying B) Then I will start fresh, find an axe, and hunt me some humanity. The rules have changed, that's all. The game is as playable as it always was. Don't lose heart, adapt - it's still a great game and will only get better in time. -
Hive servers? Well that mighty sucks, bang goes that theory. Funny though it only ever does it for me when I quit badly. I must be lucky I guess, still got all the gear on my back that I had a coupla weeks ago... I will try and replicate it tonight, as i'm getting bored of my fal nv and ghillie anyway - I miss the axe action in cherno.

Hi, Been lurking for ages but just signed up to give my tuppenny bit, hope this helps some players and maybe developers. Apart from the graphic glitches (which for me are not a problem when using default vid mem), there are 2 post-patch things that I want to bring to your attention. Firstly, TENTS yes yes yes we all know they don't save loot anymore, THAT ISN'T THE ISSUE. Sorry to piss on your parades but there is potentially a lot worse to come. As far as I recall, tents stick around for a week after you die as long as you use them, correct? but they are not saving loot to the hive. So it may stand to reason that tents are not saving THEMSELVES either. I have noticed an alarming number of posts regarding vanishing camps recently, what, a week after the patch. Tents as we know it are now dying out server wide, my own camps vanished yesterday. The tent lifetime clock is still ticking but there is no way to reset it by saving as that function broke a week ago. Tent extinction caused by a disastrous bug... Or intentional CLEANSING? If I was Rocket, I would certainly consider it one way to wipe out every tent full of duped and hacked items, that's for sure. No mess, no blame, all you need to do is disable the save function and wait. For at least a week. Painful but clean. I would also bin the aviators because Oscar Goldman was never cool. NEVER. Check your camps, fellas... Are we scared yet..? Secondly, COAST SPAWNING I did some experimentation on this and can confirm what some have already suggested, it is to do with improperly quitting the game or closing arma2 when it locks up during loading. That is using cntrl-alt-dlt to quit. Or alt-f4. This obviously screws up whatever data relays to and from the hive and so next time you log in it behaves as though you previously died, and lands you on the coast. Who knows, this could be part of some initial 'punishment' code implemented in the last patch to stop alt-f4 quitters (or I could just be a paranoid schizo) but it seems a little too coincidental... and effective... not to be even partly intentional. Anyway I have found a workaround using dayz commander, haven't tested with Six though but should work the same: Your loading screen freezes. To avoid spawning on the coast the next time you login: 1 DO NOT QUIT THE APPLICATION. Leave arma2 running. 2 Alt Tab to desktop 3 reopen dayz commander (if closed) 4 locate the server you tried to join and rejoin. In the popup option that asks if you want to close current game or start a new one, select new. DO NOT CLOSE THE EXISTING GAME. 5 A new game will open and if the server is ok you should be able to join. You will spawn where you left off. Leave this game open, then: 6 Alt-tab to desktop, open task manager and close the first arma2oa.exe. 7 Alt-tab back to your game. Survive. Eat. Kill. Say 'Friendly'. When done, exit the game properly and it will save your position. As for alt-f4ers, you're f4cked.
