People who murder bandits =/= heroes
ThuggleS replied to Ozelot (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If you only kill people with bandit skins then you are not part of the problem. -
Use DayZDB map to find all spawn points. Join a low-population server and go to a vehicle spawn point that isn't right near the coast. I'm driving around in my V3S :D
-
Lol, why not take it? Did you already have a land vehicle of your own stashed somewhere?
-
Why is this advertised as a Zombie game?
ThuggleS replied to SolarClipz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Get out of the coast. Stop going to Cherno and Electro. Go North, like me, and survive. Raid towns, avoid/kill zombies, and occasionally run into other survivors. The way I play DayZ zombies are definitely important - if they weren't there gathering supplies and weapons would be way too easy up North. -
Do the Northern cities & NWAFB have medical supplies?
ThuggleS replied to welch's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This. -
He was probably thinking that OP accidentally the whole thing.

A Story about a Hacker, my V3S, and my Winchester
ThuggleS replied to ThuggleS's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Lol, it was sarcasm :D But, I had better stuff in the truck - I carry around the Winchester when raiding because I have tons of ammo for it and it is simple and quiet when killing zombies. -
Hey you, persisting in the cold...

When I die from illegitimate means I stop playing for most of the day or the entire day and then come back to it. If I die from legit means I usually respawn and gear back up. -
I have yet to see one, and I have driven around most of the map quite often in the past couple days.

I have my camp far North-East, far away from any points of interest, in thick pine trees. No place is perfect, but since it is (usually) a low-population server it has been safe so far. I'm more worried about the server destroying my stuff than other survivors.
-
I am also running a 560 Ti and this works for me as well, most of the time. Sometimes I have to re-log, but that usually fixes the more serious situations.

So, I use hacks, this is WHY
ThuggleS replied to manwitdaplan's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
What a pussy. Dealing with bandits is part of the game. Learn to deal with it and overcome it. Keep a low profile, scavenge for gear, play on low-population servers until you are more geared up, etc etc etc. You apparently sucked at the game so you then decided to cheat. Pathetic. -
So I had a few tents full of pretty good items, used "save tent" option on all of them, but the server restart ate all the items (tents are still there). Any way to not let this happen? Not being able to save my stuff (other than what I can carry on my person) takes the fun out of the game for me...

How long does it take for weapons/items to spawn?
ThuggleS replied to Ajvkorn's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
iirc loot respawn is on a 10-minute server timer. All empty loot spots will be refreshed every 10 minutes IF no one is near the location. If there is junk in a pile and you want it to respawn you need to pick up the junk and move it away from the loot spawn location. -
tl;dr
-
So you died? What's your routine after respawning?
ThuggleS replied to welch's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hit medium-value industrial for axe. Hit medium-value barn/farm for gun. Hit medium-value residential for basic supplies. Hit supermarket for basic supplies. Hit hospital for medical supplies. Hopefully by then I have found a tent and will go set up camp somewhere. -
I love idiots like you who make pointless posts. Did you read my OP? I used the save function...on all of them...many times, actually, each.
-
I had 5 tents, all with stuff, and none of them kept items after restart. I'm afraid that since devs have said nothing on the issue that it is going to be ignored until standalone is released...which sucks balls, because I love the game, but if I can't make a camp and save items I have no motivation to play.

DayZ is worth $30. Honestly, best game I've ever played in terms of continued enjoyment and replay value.

Use this map: http://dayzdb.com/map When you first spawn it tells you where you are. The second line is the city/town name. Look it up on the map and figure out where you are. First thing you should do is go to the closest medium-value industrial building or medium-value barn/farm building (yellow or green dot on map). You will almost always find an axe in these places, and zombies WALK SLOWLY inside buildings, making it pretty easy to deal with them. You can wield the axe and 1-hit zombies with it, but their attacks are glitchy and you will get hit occasionally doing this. Next, find a medium-value residential building (blue dot on the map). You want to acquire foot/drink whenever possible as well as any tools you find like a map, hunting knife, compass, watch, etc. Also, the matchbox is very helpful. Eventually you will want to take a trip to a hospital to get some of the more advanced medical items. When you get hit and start bleeding try running to the closest warehouse/factory/barn (any big building). Run in, run to the back, and apply your bandage. The best way to replenish lost blood is hunting. Each cooked meat gives +800 blood. You will need a hunting knife, axe and matchbook to make it easy. Run through the forest/fields, find an animal, kill it with axe or gun, gut it with knife, chop down tree in forest for wood, use matchbox to make "fireplace", then light fire, cook meat, eat meat. If you find a hospital you need to throw a can/bottle at the glass to break into it. But really the best thing is to just look up youtube videos and/or wiki pages if you are confused on something.

Find a few servers near your location with low ping, and if you can join them easily and quickly, favorite them. I have 5-6 servers that I know work 100% for me. Once you find those there is no need to be joining random servers. Also, make sure the server is running the latest version of the mod.

The current Radeon series in that price range beats out Nvidia in performance/dollar. http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html

Preferred specs for a $1000 gaming system: CPU: Intel i5 (Quad-core) ~$220 USD GPU: Radeon 7870 ~$260 USD RAM: 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz+ ~$40 USD The rest doesn't really matter, although personally all of my high performance systems run an SSD - the performance increase is something I can't give up. Whether you buy it or build it, those 3 things (you can go higher on the GPU if you want, like a 7950) I highly recommend for the best bang for your buck.
-
Happened to me once when I was joining servers running older versions of the mod. I now have a list of 5-6 favorite servers, all near my location, and all running the latest version of the mod, and I haven't had any problems since then.

Well the Arma2 engine is a military simulator (used by and for the military)...so, yes :D And, with the more realistic and somewhat unforgiving medical mods in DayZ...yup.
