Fair about the cheating, in my defense my character does have a map, and I am jealous because my local libraries can't print large scale and don't laminate. But more so that gauging the moral implications of using a map if your character doesn't have one or disputing cost effective methods I wanted to give the users that haven't thought of this already an idea that has improved my game experience

Welcome! So glad to see another new user jumping into the action... Or jumping into the 3 hours of prone crawling through the forest to not get spotted by other users because you're low on blood, your vision is black and whit and pulsing in and out of blurry, out of food and only have half a clip left, where your only hope is to make it to that farm you spotted on the poster-sized map you printed out at the FedEx store and are praying you're where you think you are on the map....Nothing like it.

I guess my Topic Title kind of sums up my question..

Was making my way through Cherno and I saw a couple zombies running down the street, away from me, then from around a building I see a survivor hoof it into an apartment complex nearby, no weapon and blood spraying out of him as he ran. having yet to actually help someone (See my post on KoS) I take out the zombies and make my way up into the apartment, He yells friendly over voice as I make my way up the stairs and I respond that I'm not trying to kill him and ask if he needs anything. He asks me for a weapon, which I turn down saing I've been shot in the back too many times to give anyone a gun but that I'd be more than happy to share some meat and water and patch him up if he wants. So three cooked meats, a water bottle and a quick escort to the hospital he thanks me and takes off. A good moment I wanted to share with other survivors/Heros. Also made me realize I don't know how to bloodbag someone. What do you have to do?

Appreciate it guys. I guess more important for me to know was that if they are at full blood the option to give the transfusion doesn't pop up.

Yeah, which Is why he didn't get one. You control the guns, you control the encounters.

I just gave up an FN in my backpack with no ammunition for an M107 as my backpack weapon with two mags.

I agree. While I like the idea of random areas/maps or instances, in a game like this it would take all of the fun out of fortifying areas and building bases and it would break down some of the continuity of the environment. Instances maybe, dungeons of a type that could be separate, randomly generated interiors of large building like apartment complexes or business towers, Shopping malls.. Something like that, but not on the main map..

I can't Make it a mile without getting shot from the forest; I can't make it twenty paces into a city without being sniped from the nearest tower; I cannot get within a few meters of anyone else without being hunted down and killed for a flashlight, a bandage and some painkillers. Gunned down by what? Some jackass with a LMG or an anti-material rifle? Cause the really need my Hatchet I'm sure... I have to play on empty servers to get anywhere or even collect a meager collection of basic supplies without being chased into a building and executed. It's endlessly frustrating when not a single person I have come across will give me thirty seconds of breath before unloading on me, regardless of whether I have a weapon or not. The only worthwhile pursuit is server hopping in the NWAF to get good equipment or happening across a heli crash site and hoping there isn't a sniper on a hill nearby. Argue at me if you will. (And I'm ohsosure you will not disappoint on that.) Are there any players out there with dignity?

Man... I must be looking in all of the wrong places... NVG are the one item I have yet to find..

One of my favorite aspects of the game is using the in game references (Buildings, terrain, lakes) to find my position on a map (I got crafty [read: geeky] and printed out a large scale PDF of Chernarus) and navigate using those in game references.

I dont suck at this game. :) But I do agree that people that flame me for my opinions are self righteous pricks ;) I'm flattered by your comparison. But no, I have only killed one player, and he was a hero. But he was also shooting at me, so I don't feel so bad about it, I asked him to stop...

I only talk down to people that are below me. You need a better understanding of context. You can't assume people will immediately understand what you are saying when you type something that can be interpreted multiple ways. You are culpable. And no, it is not naive to believe otherwise. Idealistic maybe, but you don't HAVE to kill to survive. It is a choice. I think it IS a quality that matters to other people, because it is a quality that matters to me. Whether other players feel that integrity is important or not, I feel that it is. I don't consider it a weakness. I never said I didn't like DayZ, I'm not sure why people can't seem to grasp that. So to spare everyone the seemingly impossible task of reading between the lines: I really enjoy DayZ, I have fun playing it despite KoS mentalities, Bandits and numerous bugs/glitches. It is an incredibly fun mod of what I imagine is a really worthwhile game. I apologize if my venting a frustration is being misinterpreted as not liking the mod. There, so you guys don't hurt yourself using 'intellect' to read more than is just in front of your face.

No, I got that, I think I am better than people because I don't KoS. Which coincidentally DOES make me morally better. I know how to 'survive this harsh environment' and have, with several of my lives. the evidence of such is my continued willingness to play despite my frustrations. But you can't tell me that you have never been killed, lost good equipment, and gotten frustrated once? I was just venting that frustration, but I also jumped right back in and started trekking back into Chernarus excited to see what great new peice of gear I would find.

Anyways, I was just venting my frustration at my most recent death. Digital life will go on.

I forgive you without you even having to ask me.. But I don't do it on purpose, more often than not I don't even see the person killing me. The rest of the time I guess I am just hoping someone will prove me wrong. You are missing the point of my post.

Are you laughing because you don't understand the 'big word' or because you just don't understand the concept? Killing everyone you see, regardless of what you use to do it, isn't killing for survival, it's killing to kill. Killing is not a requisite to survive.

You bastardization of idioms should embarrass you. And Pendragon, I disagree, I think DayZ needs more players like me, I think DayZ is JUST the game for me, it is just being monopolized by the types of players that DayZ is NOT the game for.

I'm a Hero, not a new player, I am just endlessly frustrated by what I genuinely consider lesser players, not for lack of skill, but for lack of integrity. I just needed to vent and sling broad stroked general insults at anyone that has killed in cold blood and hid behind the excuse of survival.
