The Carebears win. lulz.

This. I agree with making zombies more of a threat, but all the increased aggro distance does is make sneaking into towns more annoying than tense. Crawling more ǂ more challenging. If anything, zombies' hearing should have been buffed, not their sight. Make all those PvPers in Cherno be extra cautious for all those rounds they expend in the big city.

Does this mean wandering zombies will notice you sooner the closer to get to them, or is this just for Aggro'd Zeds? If its the former this is going to make sneaking through towns a LOT harder.

How do you use direct voice chat?
Razumen replied to callahan9119's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You can also bind a specific key to enable direct voice chat regardless of what channel you're set at. -

What does the female gender model look like? (mhm)

This is not a PVP-focused game, it's an environment where PvP is but one of the many possible ways to 'play' -
Rocket please fix the temperature value display! It's never the correct value for me, so I always get sick before I even know my char is cold... :(
-
Anyone else have problems with the tempval in the debug menu not showing the current temperature? I've been around high 8o's and then suddenly I have a cold. Updated again to make sure it's not my fault, but this may be a bug.

Bandit/Survivor Morphing to be removed
Razumen replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
I don't really think skins should be lootable off of dead bodies. Think about it: unless they died of starvation or something similar, their body is likely to be riddled with bullet holes or zombie bits and their clothes will be full of holes and bloody-then there's the lengthy and potentially gruesome job of stripping their dead body, yuck. Good luck trying to do that in Cherno haha. -
Why wouldn't your body regenerate all of it's blood? The point of this suggestion is to replace the instant bonus you get from eating meat.

If we could all choose what we started with, of course we would pick better gear. As it is the flares are a good enough starter light source until a flashlight (or if you're really lucky NVG) can be found (And Rocket is apparently working on a flashlight that can be held like the flare currently) No way should players spawn without some sort of weapon though, there needs to be even a little bit of option for self-defence against bandits and zombies at the beginning.

a full custom facial system might be overdoing it, especially at the ranges most conflicts happen at. A greater variety of face skins and the ability to customize your character model would probably add enough visual variety that you'd be able to tell people apart. Perhaps some of these physical accessories you'd be able to find within the game world?

Right now I believe tents despawn in 48 hours if the character that erected it dies. Now while that certainly does give you enough time to get back to it and grab your stuff, I think it would be nice if you could reclaim that tent as yours and thus prevent it from despawning. This would rely on you visiting your tent once in a while to keep it in good condition, much like one would in real life. Hell, even just being able to pick up your previous tent and replace it to prevent de-spawning would be nice.
-
In real life, you'd never go back to your tent again if you die. Because you're dead. The maintenance requirement applies regardless of whether or not you are dead, this a change from the tent always being there if you are alive and the hard set 48 hour despawn time if you die. You can argue about realism if you want, but you can always run back to your corpse and regather your items, I don't see why it is so different with tents; those supplies have to come from somewhere so you'll still be making the same dangerous looting trips, except with tents you have a little bit of ability to plan ahead. I'm not arguing about the validity of tents here, they are already in the game and a lot of people seem to like them. If they don't fit with your ideal play-style then you definitely don't need to use them, but I don't think in any way that they make the game easier - the items in your tent can be just as easily stolen or lost as the ones on your body, and they're one of the few features of the game that help to keep people from server hopping.

Since apparently Day Z keeps track of the date as well as the time, how about weather that changes according to the area that Chernarus was based upon? (Either the Bohemian Central Uplands in the Czech Republic, or somewhere closer to the fictional location of the map) No need for pseudo-random weather scripts and things like seasons could also be implemented. This might take a little more work to add (if possible) but I think it would be worth it, and definitely fit in with the game's current mechanics.

How do you know that it isn't not doing it? Please, try and be constructive with your comments. Chances are if it's not something that Rocket has mentioned, someone has already corroborated or is not on the Day Z website, it's not a feature.
-
Except people can already do that, except they have a limited time to do so before their tent disappears. The same thing is possible with corpses, should corpses instantly dissapear once you die as well? Also, tents are rare enough, so I think that your fears are both unfounded and misplaced. What I'm suggesting is that tents can be reclaimed, stopping the hard set 48-hour de-spawn timer BUT still requiring players to revisit it every so often otherwise it WILL eventually de-spawn for good (Right now the de-spawn timer doesn't start until your char dies). This doesn't lessen the penalty of death because tents are not some magical re-supply item; everything that you've stored in a tent you've gotten from somewhere else, and the items you've had on you when you died still remain on your corpse, they don't magically respawn in your tent.

Stuff like this will never get implemented I'm afraid, it's far too "gamey" for Day Z, and from what I understand Rocket is against adding that kind of stuff. Players should be able to distinguish from one another *visually*, not through tacked on name icons. For this to work we need more unique and customizable character models. Thus I have come to the conclusion that Day Z needs hats, lots and lots of hats. :P

YES. Being able to hide backpacks (that don't de-spawn) in remote/hidden locations would be nice, and very useful. Reminds me a lot of Stalker and finding random stashes ostensibly left by other characters. But no alerts, that's just silly and defeats the purpose. Anything can be found given enough time.

Using the "respawn" button should make you wait for about 5-10 minutes.
Razumen replied to Lady Kyrah's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Just make the time between allowing respawns increase exponentially every time it's used, with playtime in between uses eventually cancelling it out. Spammers will have to wait longer and longer to respawn, while legit players won't be penalized. -

I'm not sure about giving the makarov a flashlight, but there should be small flashlights that we can find that we are able to hold while using a pistol-much like how you can hold a flare and your gun at the same time, except you'll be able to turn off/on your flashlight at will. Considering that there are small AA-battery powered LED flashlights today that give off more than enough light to see effectively at night, this is a pretty reasonable suggestion. The larger, secondary slot flashlight could still have a purpose in groups though, as it could give off more light and be used to illuminate targets for the rest of your squad.
