I have played with no starting gun (drop it along with most of the gear including no backpack - after i spawned lol) Its crazy and exciting! When you get that first gun or start to get gear it means so much more. At night is hard with no gun though.....Run it's a Zed! =)

I would love to see NVG run on batteries so you have a certain amount of use for them so you must ration how often you use the NVG before you need to get new batteries. I guess that would mean a new item Batteries, could also be used for flashlight or radios -when they are added to the game.

Creating Authentic Trust (Not realistic trust, it would take years)

Trust comes from spending time with another player. If you and another player worked together and actually saved each others butts where Zed could have killed you. Also another one is to be the better person and tell the other player they can have first pick on what you guys find. You can even exchange ammo, food, bandages. If the fellow player is low on clips and you have 5 or 6 spare- offer one or two go the person. I have meet friendly survivors who gave me a spare clip. I later did the same for a different player. The only way to build trust is to ask what would somone need to do to get yours. But always be cautious. Spread the friendly spirit and hunt down those who kill noobs and for sport. -

I expect the game will become harder. What I see is fixes and features to help create the foundation for players will have item and options on how to handle things. With the next patch where Zeds can see through walls- Rocket and team can now start looking how the can make the game harder for play styles. I believe Zeds will be spawning in doors soon.-next patch. I predict we will see weapons and ammo become more rare More Zeds Starting items will decrease to say a gun with no spare clips and possibly no starting backpack Zeds in forests Wild animals-hostile Thirst and food will increase rate Traps Some humanity system Non lethal weapons Temp system tweaked for getting sick from rain Tasks that will place players in harms way NVG have a battery life And others I want to see tears from all because what makes the game thilling is pulling the impossible. Surviving by the skin of your teeth. Emotions running high. Bonding with other players , exploring this world knowing you are going to die. That cool new weapon might never get fired before your killed by starvation. -

Interesting idea with the sleeping and the respawn but different server. With the sleeping the player should have leaves or some type of camouflage, or maybe able to sleep under a bed in town. Something where you can hide while you sleep but still another player could still come across you and notice you if they are close enough (sleeping outside) or inspect items like the bed for in towns. This can also open the idea of finding items of ways of hiding your body better or less chance to be seen but if your on the ground and even with some form of Camo, that player falls over or right next to you -they can see or notice a hidden sleeping body. I would say this would be if done- sometime after booby traps so you could find ways to protect locations where a player wishes to sleep. With the respawn to different server is something I actually like even though I know there will be team/clans who will not enjoy this feature. For this to work you would need to have a set timer till the player can repawn in that server they just died so if they wish to wait 30 minutes or what ever number and go to where their friends are there is a waiting period. Also this would be need to be placed in a launcher where you say I want to play in Day Servers/ Ping no more then XYZ/ REg-Vet=Expert. This will allow a player to die and respawn to a different server that still matches the basics of their selected game play style. If this was not included you would get players who would just kill them self/respawn to another server till they got one that was a Day or with 3rd person = more Lag for all and stress on servers due to the heavy jumping. This would be something if ever built in in some form - would happen in the final version and not seen in alpha. Very Nice =) -

I continue to play. I was killed by a Hack only once- this was before the Global Bans -Glad they happen =) I look at the game as your going to die sooner or later. If there are any new Hackers out there we as players need to be playing so if a Nuke event happens the proper people can be alerted and then they can be tracked and dealt with. We are Alpha tester gamers and the people who can alert when a hack does happen. Its like the Tree falls in the forest -does it make a nose? WE will be there if a Hacker does make a noise and then alert the proper people. So it can stop.

YES Every time you die, your humanity should be reset to original state. If Humanity carries over to next life you will only be conditioning the player to continue acting the same. This is what we say with the Bandit skin- I look like a bandit i guess i will act like one since it will be the only way to survive. -
NO, You are just asking for players to kill each other now for their cool skin. This will cause a spike in killing. How about the player simply ask the player with the cool skin, hey where did you get that? What is it's spawn location.

Hey guys, I saw a thread on removing the starting gun and I decided to give it a try. I decided to remove all my gear, gun, and back pack except- 1- Can of Beans 1-Canteen 1- bandage (Flares only at night test) From the 4 -5 test plays with this I came to the conclusion: Day time- This was a lot of fun and found it to be a challenge but also everything i found meant so much more. It wasn't to hard since you just have to not Aggro the Zombies, as for other players- I haven't had any shoot me but that doesn't mean they won't. I do believe if players start camping at spawn points then there needs to be a mist/fog that hangs around the coast just to give the new spawned players a few moments to plan their path. Result- Day time with this limit of gear felt fine. Night Time- This was a good deal harder. Now some of this might be easier once the new patch is released due to the fix for zombie aggro through walls and you can run and hide from Zombies which you can't do presently. I feel that not having a weapon and no eyes to see could push players to stay away from playing night time unless they already have gear. Flare are helpful but once a Zombie spots you- your basically dead. I don't know if hiding with the new patch will help with this issues since you still will be blind and Flares seem to attract Zombies, or feels like it. Fix- I know there is a flashlight and I was wondering is there a way to script the flashlight to have a limit battery like a flare has a time set before it goes out. If this could be done then a flashlight could be given at spawn with about 5-10 mins of usage. Players will use flares for large areas but for searching towns for items a flashlight would help and giving it a limit time would mean you have to use it wisely. This could be a different item then present flashlight in game since this could be a damaged one due to the water when you washed up to shore in the game. Result- Night time can be fun but players will need something to help them if there is no gun at start. I know some players talk about low gear with a gun and no spare clips. This would be a good option if the no gun at spawn does not work. This was an experiment on this topic /idea. I will note that for day time I will be dropping all my gear except the 1- Can of Beans, 1-Canteen, 1- bandage from now one. It might get me killed but the experience of surviving starting like this is amazing. You truly feel like a survivor.

How the Dog Mechanic work I know there is talk about a possible Dog Companion sometime in the future. I just wanted to toss in an idea how this Mechanic could work. Two ways this can go- 1- Player just needs one item like Dog Food and then find a stray dog Save the dog from some wild animals/wolves then have a chance to use the Food to lure and win over the dog. 2-Player must find 2-3 items in order to win over the Dog (For Ex. Dog Food, Collar, and a dog toy). Save the dog from some wild animals/wolves then have a chance to use the Food to lure and use the other items to win over the dog over. A- When discovering a dog they will be seen being attacked and chased by 2-3 wolves. The player would need to kill the Wolves before the event plays out and the dog runs off with the wolves chasing and they despawn. Causing a player to kill the wolves will cost ammo and possible alert players/Zeds to your location but a Dog would be helpful to have. B- If Wild animals like Wolves are not in the game then you would simply need to find the Dog and have the items as you slowly creep up to it. Running to the Dog or standing up as you move closer will startle the Dog and it will run away. Once you win over the dog and it becomes your companion. You will use the commands used in Arma2 squad commands to get the Dog to attack, stay close, stop. The Dog will have it's own icon where you must Feed the Dog and possibly even get it water by visit a lake or use your canteen. If the Dog's icon starts to blink red then the Dog will die. Be careful not to accidentally shot your dog which could kill it. Using bandages on Dog to heal wound. Dogs have a smaller health/blood number. Dogs are fast and can attack another player, kill a cow or goat silently. If the owner/player of the Dog is killed the Dog will run off into the woods. Players can not steal someone's dog. Unsure if a player should be allowed to get meat from a dead dog like you do for a Cow or Goat. Dogs can also be used to track animals and even sense danger- player or Zeds. The key mechanics of the Dog would work similar to what we see with Arma2's squad commands. Also on the Topic of Wild animals as a side thought- It would be great to have Wolves and Bears in the DayZ mod. There would be hot spots where you will find them more often- the animals territory and are more violent in these section. Day time- Wolves usually will spawn and then run away if the player get to close to them. But if the player has a Cold/sick or low blood the Wolves (3-6 pack) would not run but hunt the player since they will smell that the player would be the weak- like they do in real life. If players are in a pack/group 2-3 or more the Wolves will only attack if more then one of them is low blood and sick. The game would do a check on the players in the area and would then spawn the Wolves that would match that AI behavior. -Healthy single or group of players = spawn Wolves AI that run from players. -Unhealthy/sick/wounded/low blood player(s) = Spawn Wolves with AI that will hunt and attack players. Night time- Wolves are always on the hunt. If we can make the Wolves Eyes shine in the night would be great (unsure if that effect is possible- if not heavy breathing. -If player is in a group of healthy players/ good blood count/ not sick/not wounded -then the Wolves will keep distance and will leave the players alone. - If the player is alone (healthy or not) = Wolves will attack. If the group have more then 2 player wounded/sick in the group they will attack/hunt players Camp fires will keep all animals away do to the smell of smoke (IE fire) Bears- Bears will be solo but there could be more in the area but they spawn by the number of one. They are never in packs. Bears are like tanks they are decently fast but it will take a lot to kill one. Expect to unload a good deal of ammo to kill one. Bears if they get to you can do a very large amount of damage. Hope that you have a friend to help you. Bears can be avoided since they only attack if you get close enough to them. They have a smell so line of sight will not protect you. If you fire from a distance the Bear will flee. When shot at= trigger AI of Bear- Does check on location of player/ If player is under a certain # of meters = Bear attacks Player. If the player is greater then a certain # of meters = Bear flees Using a smoke grenade will stop the bear from attacking or at least stun it as it is started by the sound and odor. (This gives a use to the smoke Grenades) Night time Bears will be fewer and like Wolves they will not go near Camp Fires. If you hear a Bear at night its best to keep distance from the animal. Bears are less aggressive at night unless you walk very close to them. (If you want you could introduce baby bears to mess with players and ask can they shoot the bear for food? would they shoot only the adult?) Let me know what you think. Was trying to build it in a more mechanics manner since i believe it will be more helpful.

There will need to be also a visual way wither by icon or something for players who are deaf or hearing impaired. We will probably see the the mechanic to listen for but also some visual icon showing a pulse or wave like a heart beat monitor. -
I can see it now. A dog wedding where the two owner have guns aimed at each other..both telling the Ceremony person to hurry up! How many of these Dog Wedding end with the Dog running off together while both owner are dead due to not trusting each other--- Death by Lead Poisoning. or bullet holes,...ouch

I have heard that they do plan to allow players to find a dog and be able to have it as a pet/companion. Agree that using the Arma2 squad command might be a bit clunky. I don't know if they will simply give it it's one constant AI which would remove this. Another solution is to place it as part of the Mouse Wheel list of commands. That would be faster. You could set the animal's AI state: -Dog Aggressive (go attack enemy) -Dog Defensive (Defend if someone comes up in the Aggro space of the Player) -Dog Passive (Do not attack and fall close to the Player till Player changes command to Aggressive or Defensive ) That would bypass the clunky Squad commands
