    Single Player

    I don't see a single player version happening. What I can see a Single player tutorial in the Stand Alone DayZ game when it's actually made. You never know they may make a small campaign -single player in a DayZ stand alone game. If there was one I see it as a Campaign taking place right when the Outbreak started, since in a single player design you could have NPCs. Basically geared to get you ready to play the main game which will be the multi-player. But they might just not have a single player- depending on where they go with the game.
  2. Hatchet should be a 2-3 hit kill in most cases. If the Hatchet is doing one hit kills then it needs to be lowered. Hatchets are aimed for taking out that one Zed in the building blocking you from getting your loot.

    I believe we will see non lethal weapons in a future update. I assume these will be rare.
  4. I say No, because your going to get players choosing soldier and then hunting medics and the other classes. You would simply make it into a Hunt humans game. Solution is player are the same- survivors but they can find book or items that will gain skills- aimed at rebuilding society/ and target social and team building. There would be no sub class that would promote killing. If the chance of items/guns being damaged during combat, then you could have a book that could open the ability to fix damaged guns/firearms.

    Disconnecting to avoid death

    I would say no to landmines since they would be one hit kill. If it just injures- player bleeds, breaks leg,...that's fine with me,...just no instant death.
  6. The build is running nicely for me. Got to test out the night time and - it will keep you thinking you saw something in the shadows, plus hearing Zed's grunts as you walk and moving the flashlight to make sure they don't sneak up on you kept the tense at a 1-10 as a 12 =) One thing, i would see player killed here or there in the text box and was thinking i never hear any players actually scream in pain or cry-out as they are being killed/eaten by a Zed or a cry out if a player was killed with a non one shot kill. It would be great to be wondering in a forest and if you are close enough to the player getting killed/eaten by a Zed, to hear a final death scream echo out. Not every death but ever so often.     Bandit Heartbeat

    I thought it did reset for re spawning after death?? Can someone confirm how it works? I'm a lone wolf guy since there is to high of a chance somone will shoot me. But I'm always friendly:)

    Quit quit quit...

    They just need to do what you get when your knockout, but instead of our glass a tent icon that fills up. During this time the game server is getting ready to log you out. So this means you can't DC and escape danger since you will be frozen and wait for a minute or so with the tent icon to fill up. At this time your character is still ingame and can be killed. Just need to disable Alt+F4. Problem solved. For those who just lose their connection or computer crashed- I believe the character is saved every so many seconds so you should be fine.

    Character classes

    The only way I see class as working is have players can learn and discover book/journals which would open up it as a sub class. The main class is a survivor- which all players are. Sub class wouldn't be the normal say class but skills that would open up or make you more efficient in certain tasks. Ex. Read some books on car/vehicle repair = you can fix a vehicle easier or your able to repair future damage to it. Feel free to brain storm others. The only one I would not like to see is no book that opens up skills that allow you to kill players. Books should be about re building society.
  11. I rather see a failed Hunan last stand location. We see the remains if it through notes ,journals, and dead bodies along with barriers broken through as if to show signs they were over whelmed.

    Non Social Game?

    I'm sure team /social building and settlement building content will be added in the future but they need to determine how they would make it work in game thats all. What we just saw was the Zed AI get tweaked along with removal to no weapons and added melee weapons. They just want make sure this build is good and then we will see something soon =) (Looking into my crystal ball) lol
  13. If there are social parts added along with side tasks and even build a settlement/or series of tasks to get certain towns to be taken back by humans then we will see a shift. The question that needs to be answered is what do you do when you have 2 tents and good deal of loot/weapons,....this is where players will dip into player killing because they ran out of things to do. If there is a way to build a settlement, then there would be a challenge and many would jump on this. There will also be the few who simply want to watch the world burn...there is no hope for them..maybe a Zed will eat them......

    Starting weapon : piece of driftwood

    The point in not having any weapon is to feel naked, feel scared, build tension and I know players are going to feel frustrated. Some will feel like thus because of fear of player killers and others because AAA games make you feel like a Hollywood action movie character. It's conditioning. I say just play, don't take it all serious if your character dies. I was killed by a player the other day when I had the hatchet and killed a goat. A player shot me and i was like dam, he is going to steal my goat meat lol. Have fun.

    ROCKET - ENDGAME BUILDING!

    The faction or could be a banner is used so players don't create names that could be offensive. These would be take a name like Red Cross and since they are gone - you are taking their banner but you can do what you want. But for the mod I agree that we will not see a faction/ banner but just settlement building.

    I was thinking... some thoughts on End Game- with Society Faction building (forgive the grammar - writing on IPhone Undecided ) What if players cone across the remains of factions/groups that were wiped out due to the Zeds. Players can then decide to take up this factions banners, (arm bands) Once you sign up at one then there will be info on your character - stats that others from your group can see. Other factions can also see if they are allowed at the location where it's kept. There will a wide range of factions which are based on what kind of groups would evolve out if this zombie apocalypse. When you discover one of these former faction hold outs... You can go through the notes and info left from the original members who either left or dead. Your are the next generation of society. Theses notes could be journal entry of a mother singing her child to sleep as she says in her next line how she wonders is this will be last night to sing this song. Everyday can be your last. Notes can also be info on how they were looking at getting power to some towns. There would also be information tell the player there other groups out there and even though at times there was conflicts, it made trading and surviving better. Once there is a group of 3 that are part of this faction then the book/symbol of the base and identity/ can be moved to what ever location you wish. Radios will have a channel for their faction (if you gave a radio) that will give info on the last known location of the base. Ideally there would be about 5 factions and players don't need to join them. You can do lone wolf. If a faction player sees the other player with ni armband then they know they are a lobe wolf or a new player. This idea is actually for the future of DayZ since you would need a larger map and more players on the server. This will also encourage to find a home server basically but faction stats and membership is cross server but like tents, what you build or layout will only stay on that one server. This is aimed at being social, while grounding it within what happen during this zombie apocalypse. Players will still kill each other and there will be faction tension but also there can be trade as well as backstabbing. Players who leave a faction or back stab the one they are a member of will be flagged. Meaning at the faction's core book with player stats- you will also see names that left or did the faction wrong. To keep faction from hording vehicles... They will have a life span after you fix them. So sooner or later the engine will just die. This means factions can only hold vehicles for a period of time, allowing them to respawn and others can get a chance. I have more but I need to do some research before saying more. The core is to allow players to be social, connect with the DayZ world, but also still allow players freedom at the say time bring players to bond. This would of course be after tasks and side missions are brought into the mod, if that happens. This also eliminates the survivor /bandit mentality . Let me know what you think?

    New changes are driving people away

    This is Alpha and there is going to be a good deal of testing different mechanics. Some mechanics will stay, there's replayed or be tweaked. You will never find the mechanic that will improve the game experience without Experimenting. As an artist- I will never discover the best design for a logo without doing 100s of thumb nail sketches, only by playing with ideas can you are the pattern and discover new ideas and methods. Just enjoy the game :)
  21. Bandits are on the Webpage next zombies to kill or watch out for. Lol I do understand people playstyle change as they play DayZ but you can't say Bandit is a meme.....there is a section for Bandits on this forum. Bandits exist and there is a large enough numbers of them that proudly call themselves bandits. What I do predict in the future Bandits my mean more of a Faction or a title for many factions as the game evolves. The reason for mechanics like bandit skin and heartbeat mechanics being tested is because there is a fear that the mod will be come player kill/loot player focus over bring a survival game with Zombies/infected as the universal theme. If this mod just becomes player kill/loot focus then the game becomes shallow. The Devs are working on making it dynamic and emotional tense that's why we see Zombies coming back as a major threat. I believe they want not just players who help others feel fear but also players who think this is a Loot collect base game - to feel Fear. That's all :)
  22. I was wondering what do Bandit's Fear. I look at players who kill usually kill for a reason while i know some do it just to grief players or they want a high body count, but I don't see that behavior as being a Bandit. Bandits to me a players who see anything as a risk/threat and lives with a finger always on the trigger but they make judgements on when to shoot and when not to. The reasons are all based on one's one feeling/thought process at that moment/or event of a possible or actual encounter. So those who are Bandits and the Player Killers who grief, what do each of you Fear? ( and please don't say Carebears lol)

    Why does it not show up with other Servers? Don't all the servers use Battleye control?
