  1. Tried it this morning and noticed my temperature was dropping during the rain. Put myself next to a burning oil barrel and it got up quickly. Did find some firewood as well (takes up 2 slots) in a house. Maybe I was lucky.

    Too many downsides playing night?

At first I didn't like night time at all. Now I feel a lot safer, hell I even run around in Cherno 90% of the (night) time. It's not that hard, you just need to know how to play. Use flares to highlight areas, but don't run into them and keep a distance. Use chem lights when you raid buildings, they're a lot harder to see from a distance compared to a flare. They should do something about the permday server though.

Let There Be FIRE! - bugged -

Aha, the notorious firebug found it's way to DayZ.

    Direct Communication?

If you talk in vehicle chat (or even squas chat) people should normally hear local positional sound as well, shouldn't they? I haven't tried it out though.

How to launch in windowed mode?

left alt + enter ingame works as well.

    Waiting for server response

Yeah. From +40 people in a gameserver, people start having to wait very long to get in. (And also seem to respawn in the debug forest sometimes)

    Ruining ARMA 2?

Well the first one (Project Reality) is a public PVP mod orientated on people working together, capturing flags or otherwise playing insurgency. It can be very intense. Youtube has good footage of all mods. The other mods are, well public as well, but they get played in (closed) communities more. You have to join such a community and play on a fixed date.

    Ruining ARMA 2?

Let's just hope the noobs discover the other great mods as well. Project Reality, ACE, Invasion 44, Unsung mod, Hell in the Pacific,... + tons of maps and addons

    What was your dumbest death?

Great topic. Lovely to read how people troll themselves. This thread is full of déjà-vu.
  10. Trololol. +1 Nice editing of the pictures.

What do you want to see in 1.5.9 ?

http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=12339 These shotguns would be cool (and make the winchester a real winchester, not a shotgun)
  12. My best experience: I was on a hilltop close to the Elektrozavodsk power plant following 3 survivers. They were shooting zombies and gave away their position. I fired 1 (!) shot with my AK74 Kobra and hit one in his back from 200m or so. Immediately after, 2 of them (2 russians) shot their 3rd party member. I continued opening fire and killed the second guy. The other one fled into the power plant. I waited and was overwatching the powerplant and in a timespan of 5 minutes, I saw 2 more (solitary) survivors arriving. Not realizing there were now 3 others in the power plant, i sneaked to the powerplant (E-side), looted the body of one I shot. I saw a guy moving inside of the fire station at the powerplant (gun was sticking through the wall). I threw a grenade and killed the guy. I wanted a minute and ran to the powerplant, SUDDENLY, the 3rd guy of the first party I engaged, ran infront of me unknowning I was behind him. I unloaded my AK74 Kobra on him and he died. Good thing my sound is very loud, I heard the 5th and last survivor running around. He ran into the fire station and I shot him in cold blood, 5x 1911 in his upper torso and face. He died and ragged in chat. Great loot, fantastic kills and only a minor injury! The last guy hit me with a winchester I believe. Moral: learn to be aware of your surroundings. Never fire when unneccesary! You do not only attract zombies. Always be patient! Wait and observe. (Ok, I know I was a bit lucky, but killing 5 guys in 10 minutes?? lol)

  14. I have the impression i'm getting glitchy graphics since one of the new patches. Like walls going through my entire screen blocking my view when I look at things. Pretty common arma 2 graphics glitch. ATI 4850 i7 920 DDR3 6Gb 1800Mhz

    Traps

+1, great idea. Bear trap should result in blood loss (-4000?) and broken legs.

    Difficulty installing mod (CO Retail)

What are you talking about? You don't need to apply or restart anything. My instructions are clear man. Others have got it to work without the screenshots they said earlier in this topic. You don't need to put the -nosplash in and pay attention to the [sPACES]. This is my targetline, just copy everything after the last " "D:\Games\ArmA 2\ARMA2OA.EXE" -nosplash -mod=@DayZ; Start up your shortcut ofcourse to launch the mod. If just launching the vanilla game gives you problems/errors (as you said earlier), you might want to reinstall your game. With a fresh start, you might get it to work a lot easier!

    Difficulty installing mod (CO Retail)

I know it's difficult for starters. I too had problems launching mods back in the days, but this method goes back to Operation Flashpoint: Resistance. The regulars are veterans are used to this. So this is what I mean: *both ArmA2 and OA in the same exact map. **look at where the @DayZ map is. All other maps starting with @ are mods as well. Create a shortcut of arma2oa.exe to your desktop and change the target line/path by adding -mod=@DayZ; (if you add ;@xxx;@xxz; you can run more mods simultanously). You could also use SixUpdater, but I prefer managing my own shortcuts and mods by hand. Other mods or communities require daily updates or multiple mods and for them I use SixUpdater. Project Reality is a bit different; they only use an .exe installer that sets up a shortcut and installs everything in the right place for you. There's 3rd party software aswell that allows you to run mods easily. IDK the names of any by heart as I never used them, but you can probably find them easily at www.armaholic.com

    Difficulty installing mod (CO Retail)

Try joining a server with few people to test if it works. You get in faster IMO.

    Difficulty installing mod (CO Retail)

It's actually very simple: 1) install ArmA 2 and then OA in the EXACT SAME directory. 2) update to patch 1.60 3) in the main folder, make a map called @DayZ, in that new map make a map called 'addons' and put all of your downloaded (mod) files in that latter map. Don't put it in the Expansion folder. 4) go read a tutorial on how to start up a mod. (aka make a shortcut of your arma2oa.exe to your desktop, go to properties and add -mod=@DayZ to the path.) So your path should be something like c:\Program Files\ArmA2\arma2oa.exe -mod=@DayZ) or similar to wherever you installed your mod.

    Tazer + Handcuffs

Hello, maybe something useful to implement: a tazer to stun people and steal their stuff in a non-lethal way. Maybe you can put in handcuffs as well to capture a stunned person and make (the handcuffs disappear automatically after a while or untill someone sets that person free again). City Life RPG has a similar system and that proved to work well. In their mod, when a person got tazered, all of his inventory would automatically be dropped on the ground.
