After not playing the game for a couple of days (Borderlands 2 was keeping me busy), I decided to play some DayZ again just for some fun and since I never properly tried it, I decided to go for PVP and found a somewhat crowded server (had around 10-15 people when I joined). Although the FPS I was getting was horrible, I decided to keep playing for a bit anyway, and breaking my legs not so long after that cemented the deal. I made my way out of the powerplant right outisde Elektro and was about to make my way to the hospital by crawling (was still pretty confident of myself since I had an AKS-47 Kobra and an M9). And then, it happened. Everyone in the server teleported to one location and one of the players wrote; "oops". Everyone, including me, was shocked but none of us could reacted fast enough so they mowed us down with LMG's right there. I managed to grab a screenshot right when I was unconscious and about to die of bloodloss and took another of the playerlist before I quit. You can clearly see who died thanks to death messages, which should narrow the cheaters down. From what I can tell 999YOU and two e.RZ idiots are the ones who did it (I did see three guys standing directly in front and looking right at us with LMG's though unfortunately couldn't capture it in the ss but I'm fairly sure that 999YOU is cheated). Please do what is necessary. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r479/Blacktric/DayZ%20Cheaters/2012-10-07_00001.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r479/Blacktric/DayZ%20Cheaters/2012-10-07_00002.jpg

DayZ Standalone Game - Questions
blacktric replied to stoobism's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Talk about being completely ignorant. Bohemia and Rocket themselves both said they would be STUPID not to release the game on Xbox Live Arcade and maybe on PSN after the success of Minecraft on XBLA alone. Get your sh*t straight before misinforming everyone. http://www.videogamer.com/pc/day_z/news/bohemia_wed_be_stupid_not_to_release_dayz_on_xbla.html -
Does my FPS seem reasonable? [Specs Included]
blacktric replied to Obsolescence's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
This. Overclocking the CPU helps tremendously with DayZ mod's performance. In my case (specs are below), I got 10-15 FPS increase after overclocking my CPU to 3.2 GHZ from 2.6. Though I had to revert back to stock speed since I'm using the Intel E5200 stock cooler at the moment (which works great and gives me 40 idle and 70 load temperatures at stock btw) and not a big fan of using the CPU above 50 celcius at idle and constantly around 85-93 during load. I am trying to get a good CPU cooler as soon as possible to overclock though... Intel Q6700 @ stock (2.4 GHZ) Gigabyte X48-DS5 Zotac GTX560 Ti @ stock 4 GB (2x2) A-Data DDR2 -
Can I run it at an enjoyable level?
blacktric replied to a_typical_noob's topic in New Player Discussion
You might want to change the server(s) you're playing on since I'm getting very similar results on high settings with a non overclocked Q6700 and a GTX 560 Ti. I've seen people who get above 40 in cities with ease on high settings with setups similar to yours. -
Does Dayz utilize multiple cores or multithreading?
blacktric replied to decoman's topic in New Player Discussion
It uses multiple cores but does NOT fully utilize Quads and other CPU's with more cores like most of the newer big budget games does (Battlefield 3 is a good example of this). I am using a stock Q6700 at the moment and I get above 95% constant usage in Battlefield 3 while getting above 50-60% with ARMA 2 and DayZ. Here's hoping that the standalone and ARMA 3 utilizes all cores properly to their fullest. -

He is using a laptop that has an i5 processor running at 2.4 ghz stock with no way to overclock without causing massive rise in thermals. Add the downgraded amount of cache sizes and how horrible his graphics card is into account and reaching to that conclusion isn't hard. You will definitely struggle and switching certain options to high to let the graphics card handle certain calculations won't help you due to having a below entry level graphics card with 1 gig dedicated system memory (which is extremely slow in comparison to VRAMs. You will be able to play the game but don't expect too much. Way to give someone false hope. -
Yes. Make sure to set "Video Memory" to High eventhough everyone's been screaming for months to set it to default so it can use all of your vram instead of 512 MBs... Do NOT switch your settings while ingame. Disconnect from the server, go to main menu and switch your settings while you're in there.

Your system is more than adequate enough to play the game on highest settings. But the thing is, some servers (most likely because of HIVE system), causes MASSIVE FPS drops. Sometimes in certain servers, I get 5-10 FPS in open areas let alone in the cities and in some other servers, I get 20-30 FPS in big cities like Elektro. Change the server you're playing on first before dropping your settings. Also turning Post Processing off would give you both a substantial increase in FPS and tactical advantage since you will be able to clearly see the distance without the interruption of blur or HDR. And if all else fails to give you a satisfying FPS, overclock your CPU. I saw gains as little as 10 in some areas after I overclocked my CPU to 3.0 GHZ and even more when I overclocked to 3.2. Nearly every time, it's the fault of the server people are playing on. I have experienced this countless times while playing DayZ. I have no problems playing both ARMA 2 and Operation Arrowhead on highest settings except for AA in both Singleplayer and Multiplayer while I get around 15-50 FPS in DayZ depending on my location and the server I am in.

Suggestions for the DayZ standalone - thinking outside of the limitations of an Arma 2 mod.
blacktric replied to ruarz's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I don't know if this has already been discussed in the topic but; -Being able to disassemble parts from cars, both enterable/driveable/repairable ones and the wrecked ones that can't be entered (like the wrecked Humvees that can seen in and around zombie populated areas) but clearly has a couple undamaged tires, would be a fantastic addition. It would make repairing vehicles a little bit easier and would also let players to disassemble certain parts before quitting a server to ensure that whoever is trying to steal the car will at least have a harder time doing it. -Being able to drain fuel from driveable cars (with both using a Jerry Can to save the fuel for later usage or draining it onto ground thus wasting the fuel if one doesn't have a Jerry can): Again, to ensure that people who'll try to steal a vehicle would have a harder time to do so. -
So wait. Will vehicles still disappear where we left them and return to their regular spawn points AFTER a server restarts or will they just stay at the place where we left and saved them as long as they're not destroyed or not stolen?

Should we remove barbed wire in the next update
blacktric replied to mattlightfoot's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
If they are causing problems and bugs like someone above suggested, then yes you should remove them. -
Is it possible to get bandaged by a friendly while the character is unconscious? Thanks in advance for the answers.

Both of those options are already enabled for me actually. But still, thanks a lot for posting your results.

Server restartings?

I am also having some weird FPS and connection issues like some people. I hope this gets resolved fast. -
Going to try this. Will edit this post for the result. Edit: Didn't solve anything. I am still getting 15-25 FPS and my FPS gain when I look at the sky or directly to ground is barely around 10, when it should be around 15-40 like the way it was a day or so ago. Also for some reason I cannot fire my gun. My character doesn't even hold his gun up. When I right click, my character walks slowly but does not switch to FPS mode from TPS to aim down the sights and nothing seems to solve it. Edit 2: Solved the "not being able to fire" issue by dropping my gun to the ground and picking it up again. But FPS problem is still present. On my very first try after installing my GTX560 Ti today, the settings were all very low and I got 25 FPS when I was in a military tent. Then for my second try, which's result you can see in this very post in my first edit, I bumped up the graphic options to mixed very high/high/medium and with no AA, rejoined the server and got 15-25 with not enough FPS gain while looking to sky or ground. Dropped every possible graphical option to very low again for my third try and I managed to get the same exact result again, although I got 5 FPS gain when I stand at the exact location I was when I quit after my second try. So the issue is still going on for me.

Today I finally got my GTX560 Ti and installed it without any problems and the first game I tried was DayZ. When I got 25 FPS on very low settings I nearly died of heart attack. Thankfully after trying out Battlefield 3 singleplayer and Skyrim, I can say that I have the exact same problem. My specs are below; Intel Q6700 @ stock speeds Gigabyte X48-DS5 Motherboard Zotac GTX560 Ti @ stock speeds A-Data 4 Gigs DDR2 800 Ram (2x2) High Power 500W PSU Windows 7 64 Bit Considering that I was getting 40-60 FPS average and 30 at the lowest (happened only once because of massive texture loading/my HDD I'm guessing) on all high settings in Battlefield 3 campaign, this must be a server side problem. Also as a side note; I was getting around 15-40 FPS on very low settings with extra .cfg tweaks depending on which server and part of the world I was when I was using my 8800GT 512 MB.

FPS Issue on a good computer... Please help!
blacktric replied to jAcKy (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
"Trust me, an SSD is a must for this game bec it reduce a lot the stuttering / micro-freeze especially in cites, lower the LOD loading time and so on." You do NOT need an SSD to play DayZ without worrying about hiccups and stutters. I have a decent 7200 RPM SATA2 HDD I bought nearly 4 years ago and as long as I do regular defragmentations with Diskeeper (even Win7's defragmenter works), I never experience a problem with any game, including BF3, ARMA II or DayZ. If you are having hiccups/stutters, try defragging your HDD and if it doesnt solve your problem then get a new 7200 RPM SATA2/3 HDD. You dont need to dish out tens of hundreds of dollars for a petty 60 gig HDD unless you want faster load times for both games and your OS. SSDs haven't become a viable replacements to old HDDs yet. Unless you have the money of course. -
Is it possible to find and loot your own corpse?
blacktric posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
First of all, hi everyone. I was looting a building in Elektro when someone suddenly appeared behind me and nearly axed me to death (yeah I know, noob mistake on my part). I managed to kill the guy but my blood count went down to about 2000 and I could not stop the bleeding before I fainted and died. So my question is, if I went to the place where I died in the same server without disconnecting after my death, will I be able to find and loot my corpse? I really want to get my Ghillie Suit back. Thanks a lot for the answers in advance. -
