Do you Think DayZ Should Port to Console?
luxifergrim (DayZ) replied to bebopspeedy's topic in General Discussion
That's the thing, a servicable gaming rig will cost you less than a PS4 if you build it yourself. Or you can spend the next 3 or 4 years hoping that BI will get around to it. By which time DayZ will probably have outlived it's life for most users. -
Do you Think DayZ Should Port to Console?
luxifergrim (DayZ) replied to bebopspeedy's topic in General Discussion
That's exactly what we need, dumbed down console ports... -
Does your character reset EVERY time you join a server?
luxifergrim (DayZ) replied to Mori (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
There seems to be a problem with the hives saving to the Database, I have noticed this happening even when I rejoin the same server...That said, I have identified several servers that do actually seem to still work. And if this community wasn't full of server ghosting dicks and loot farmers, I would be apt to share them. Just know that they are actually out there. -
My head feels dizzy and my head pounds (in red)

So if you take bad meds, what happens? Do you wait it out, or will you eventually die? -
I had this problem too, Game was looking great, and I'm pounding chow and drinking every two minutes because of the incessant messages. My vision goes blurry in the middle of Cherno. It's not the graphics settings, I can definitely tell that it's a blur shader run awry...If it's a game feature, how do we fix it?

Arma 3 has this, I hope they bring it to the standalone too.

Hey Zekken, We have most of what you are looking for. We have built up balota and NEAF to make them valid points of interest. We don't have a huge community, but we are helpful/respectful. Barebone loadouts, Dynamic heli crashes, Low ping even for our UK/european players, and you don't have to worry about playing in the dark all the time. Check the link in my sig for more info, or Search for GSC in your launcher of choice...

Just looking for a few people to play with.
luxifergrim (DayZ) replied to p_del10's topic in Clan / Group Recruitment
GSC is a small but growing community of friendly/helpful players. We are DayZ purists, who believe in the visceral dayz experience. We also have several custom features in line with this. Visit Gsc-clan.org to learn more. -
I think Grim's Salvage and company is just what you are looking for. We are new-player friendly, so you won't be griefed into hating DayZ. And we try to uphold the spirit of what DayZ is about. That means you start with a bandage and a patrol pack (we don't coddle COD kiddies here...). Also, no auto refueling... We do have NPC bandits if you are feeling adventurous, but they are well balanced and not OP. We are also the first Server in DayZ to have Dynamic Heli Crashes. We strictly enforce server rules, and our community is respectful and helpful by and large. Visit GSC-clan.org to learn more. All of our admins are adults with Military, Law enforcement, or Network Administration backgrounds! Hope to see you there!

First dynamic chopper crashes in DayZ!
luxifergrim (DayZ) posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Like many, we were getting frustrated with the broken heli crashes on our server. We wanted to find a way to not just fix it but improve on the concept. It took some work, But GriM's Salvage and Co. has what we think is the first truely dynamic heli crash system. -

First dynamic chopper crashes in DayZ!
luxifergrim (DayZ) replied to luxifergrim (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The occupants die in the crash and we are working on custom loot tables, similar to the way our AI bandits spawn with random gear. You can loot gear from the deceased, but right now the tables are pre-set. The next step is to get the loot randomized, which should be straightforward as we currently do this with our AI bandits. -
Enfield is by far the most underrated weapon in the game... Shoots flat out to 300m or better. Stick to the farms and fields and you can't go wrong.

To those who look down on bandits/pvp...
luxifergrim (DayZ) replied to daspope's topic in New Player Discussion
I know this is a topic of contention, but our private server has actually put in roving bands of AI bandits...If most of the "bandits" playing these days are pretty much KOS griefers who wreck camps, and chatter up side chat. We figured that the computer can probably do the same thing better and cleaner. And for the most part, We were right. I know AI bandits are going to be controversial, but it has been a hit so far for us, and we look to expand the idea by making bandits defend high value items like helicopters and SUV's in Bandit bases. It adds an element of teamwork that I have only seen in Arma servers. Our bandits are slightly stronger than an "average" player. It's about 50/50 when I encounter them solo...I have silently taken out entire squads, as well as having been completely cut down by guys hurling PKM fire at me. I invite anyone interested to go to http://gsc-clan.org and check it out. -
I would like to invite you guys to check out our private server over at GSC-clan.org... We have a small community of mature players, and we always welcome more!

Acceptable age to play?
luxifergrim (DayZ) replied to Cap'n (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
16-18 is a coinflip, half of the kids are decent and half of them are little shit heads. You can definitely tell who grew up playing COD and the like, and who grew up playing Cowboys and Indians when you throw everyone into the DayZ blender. DayZ, with it's lack of defined structure makes in more like Cowboys and Indians, where we all agreed to play, adhering to basic tenets of sportsmanship. The idea of "fair play", "discipline", and "fighting fair" was ingrained into us as children, and it seems that concept is lost on the younger generation. Please don't use the argument that, "It's a combat sim, and all's fair in War..." That is a logical fallacy perpetrated by those who would never place themselves in a position to be harmed. -

DayZ Mod 1.7.5.1 Update
luxifergrim (DayZ) replied to mattlightfoot's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Big time problems with the M107...It allows you to right click and mark targets like you were in a vehicle, and when you put a zeroed mildot over the marker a circle appears letting you know that you are on target...Big time over powered...Was this put in intentionally? -
