    [NEW] Respawn button is disabled during DayZ play So what happens when we end up in debug forest and just want to play the damn game? Or stuck in a rock with no hope of escaping? Or teleported by a script user to the middle of nowhere, too far to get back to civilization? Now, I can't stand accidently hitting respawn, but a simple "Would you like to respawn?" would have been preferable. The mod still has very serious problems that makes being able to respawn at the push of a button a must.

    fuck yeah, time to replace the thousands of duped wire fences in cherno with thousands of bear traps in every door so i can shoot helpless new spawns from the top of the grain silos as the newbies desperately try to crawl to safety!

    The second this update goes live, I'm going to dismantle the hundreds of barbed wire I set up in Cherno and replace them with bear traps. Can't wait for carebears to bitch about getting their legs broken the second they spawn!

    LOL Better hurry and store your important stuff in your tent/car and sprint to the NW airfield for 1 last "hardcore PVP" session.. Soon death might matter to you like it does to us carebears. I was in top death leaderboards for months' date=' knew the map inside out while you were still getting achievements for pressing space in some carebear game of yours. By the time I hit 1k hours playing dayz I pretty much done everything possible in this mod. Items are far down on my list of things I want from this game. But the group/clan aspect that this game has is practically being removed due to not having a lasting objective/goal/base because you whiners want free and easy stuff BECAUSE YOU CARE(bear) about it more than anyone, why would you be so happy otherwise? pathetic hypocritical ignorant twerps. [/quote'] Are you so naïve? You are the one who wants safety. You are the one avoiding pvp. Putting your stuff off map is far more "care bear" than anything I've heard suggested around here except "remove pvp". Setting up your little green acres camps is weak. Why don't you just go play arma on your own server and set up a super leet camp full of stuff and just sit there looking at it? Man up, grow a pair and figure out how to survive inside the boundaries of the game. Or you can go back to collecting hair clips on Hello Kitty Island. Oh my god this! You'd have to be blind, or just downright stupid, to not see the irony of bitching about "carebears" getting saving vehicles off the map removed.

[/quote'] Plenty of people in this thread calling for players not to be able to store gear and vehicles AT ALL, regardless of map bounds. Once you die you respawn along with all the gear you hid, etc. That is bullshit. In theory, that sounds like a great idea. Permadeath is a very powerful concept that has the potential to completely change how players value their in-game lives. In practice, however, it's nearly impossible to do. How would you "tie" a car to a particular user? And, as usual, dedicated clans that devote every waking minute of their lives to one-upping everyone in DayZ would find a way to cheat the system.

    I fully support this ellimination of out-of-bounds vehicle saving. Just one question though, to all those complaining about not being able to find a vehicle within the map boundaries: How hard are you looking? Yesterday I went for a drive along the edge of the map, and found no less than three fully repaired vehicles in the forests WITHIN the map boundaries. Not every vehicle on the server is going to be saved out of bounds (unless you're on a server with helicopters enabled, in that case odds are one person controls every vehicle on the server) Anyone complaining about not being able to find a vehicle is not looking in teh right places. Though I'd suggest anticipating a lot of vehicles to reappear in their default spawn points once everything outside the map is reset.

    great, our server isn't saving half of the tents/vehicles properly, so there's a 50% chance my vehicle will still be where I parked it when I drive it all the way back to my parking place (I never save them outside the map but had to pick up a friend today who does). Also that time seems a bit off.......... we parked one car outside the map literally ten minutes before the server restarted, and when it restarted, it was gone. I love that something's finally being done about this though. Maybe this shouldn't be done when half of the servers are losing hive connections every five minutes, causing vehicles/tents to not save at all.

    I placed a tent yesterday to move shit from my vehicles, but when I logged in this morning it was empty, and the vehicle I repaired was damaged again (the fuel tank and hull was red, but it was green before the server restarted). All of my items in the vehicles loaded properly though. Is this happening more due to the DDoS from a few days ago, or is it something 1.7.2 will fix?

    So did vehicles in every server get destroyed, or just older servers? Yesterday tents and vehicles disappeared on our server after a server restart. They all reappeared when the server was restarted again, but their inventories were all wiped.

    Yeah. Admins are getting shit on, and they're the ones paying for these ungrateful dc'ing fucks to play. Curgon said that people are breaking down the doors to be admins. Okay, fair enough. But when they become admins, they get shit on by the community....pretty soon you're not going to have anyone willing to pay to keep this mod online. The door swings both ways DayZ community/devs. Keep that in mind. The problem with what you're suggesting is that tents and vehicles are tied to the server, so it'd be unfair to give admins full control over their servers. That data is DayZ's data, not your own server's data. I've seen what happens when you give hotheaded clan admins their own DayZ server. I'll give you a hint: we usually end up banned for breaking a rule made up on the spot because we killed the admins or stole their choppers. Ordinarily, this wouldn't be a problem. Just find a different server, right? Oh, but what about your stash of food, water, guns, ammo, and vehicles stashed on the server? Oh, gone, too bad! Sucks for you! QQ more, right? Perhaps you shouldn't thought twice before joining a server run by an elitist clan whose admins ban on whims and do not understand which side the burden of proof lies on. Here's the problem with banning people for DCing: You've taken it upon yourself to police your servers for potential DCers. Just how do you go about that? Do you only ban people who DC while shooting you or your clan buddies? Do you let any old player say "omg he disconnected twice in an hour! must be DCing!!!!!11" Do you ban anyone who connects to your servers more than three times in an hour, with zero proof of DCing to avoid PvP? Do players on your servers need to be terrified to disconnect in fear of being branded a DCer?

    Be aware, I'm going to start banning.

    Just two question: Will you be banning everyone who DCs from your server, or just people who DC on you or your admin/clan buddies? And if you're banning everyone who DCs, how do you intend on making sure they really were disconnecting to avoid death? Now, I'm an admin. I have rcon access, but I've never had to use it before. If you're going to only ban people who are DCing on you, that's kind of unfair, because now you're the only one immune from people cheating. Everyone else just has to put up with getting killed by people DCing. And if you're planning on banning anyone who DCs, how are you going to do that? We had an incident in which we were banned from a server for "constant server hopping" because we disconnected three times in an hour (twice due to absurd desync). The admin banned us because we were "probably" the type of people who server hop and DC to avoid death, and his ban had no evidence to support it. Do you intend on making sure people who are DCing are actually cheating, or are you just going to ban anyone who you decide disconnects too often?

    Umm... VPope.... if you think we used map hacks to steal all of your choppers and vehicles on UK3, you're wrong. Then again it doesn't matter anymore, seeing as you took the server offline permanently a day after we stole everything from you and your clan.

    If we drive a vehicle off of the map and save it, will it save and delete only if it's inactive for 7 days, or will it delete instantly? The FAQ seems unclear on this.

    We've set up bases that lasted weeks without being found, and we knew choppers were working in that server. I think being able to magically find every single vehicle on the server while flying higher than the server's maximum view distance cretes serious gameplay problems. I still think that being a coward and hiding in a pile of loot and helicopters out in the middle of nowhere with no chance of other ppl finding it is a serious gameplay problem for everybody else on the server. Your denying other ppl content. Your denying other ppl a chance to get that Landrover or Ural truck. Cry your salty tears. This was bound to happen, soon tents will also follow. Love the changes guys, keep at it Trust me, if we could stash our vehicles in a dense forest where choppers wouldn't be able to see them, we would. But choppers don't even need to see them; they can see teh dots on the map. As I already said, I'm glad we can't set up camps outside the map, because I do think it's cheating and it's unfair. However, I think it's equally unfair that choppers have such great power that it's effectively impossible to hide vehicles anywhere on the map. The chopper radar should have been removed along with the ability to save outside of the map.

    Finally! Something I'm concerned about though: Can we still save vehicles outside the map? The fact that helicopters have radar makes it virtually impossible to set up a well-hidden camp inside the map, since even if you put everything in dense forests, someone with a chopper can come in and see it while flying above the game's maximum visibility, thus being virtually invisible. If helicopters have been removed from servers that already had them (the older servers), I'd have no problem with setting up camps within the map. But if some servers still have choppers, and there's no way to tell which ones those are, this creates a serious gameplay problem.
  19. Currently, helicopters possess the ability to spot stationary enemy vehicles via radar. Which means whoever controls the choppers controls everything. That is an extreme imbalance, especially considering that in nearly every server we've played on that has choppers, it seems like the admins (or the admin's clan) is almost always in control of the choppers. Forcing everyone to stay within the pre-defined area of the country gives whoever has a chopper the ability to scoop up every vehicle. Since choppers can see vehicles, choppers can safely cruise above the maximum view distance, spotting vehicles without even seeing the ground. This makes setting up camps in dense forests to keep things hidden impractical, because choppers can see right through it. There are land features and formations outside the map boundaries. There's nothing out there, but the devs still put in mountains and terrain, so it must be a part of the game world. Now, I can understand perhaps limiting just how far you can walk, drive, or fly past the edge of the map. People shouldn't be able to get all the way to the northern borders. I think maybe we could at least have SOME area outside the main map. I might consider supporting enforcement of map boundaries if and only if chopper's radar system is removed. If you're flying a chopper, you should be looking out your windows and trying to spot camps, instead of being able to find EVERYTHING in the server in a matter of hours. With radar, choppers can fly higher than the server's visibility, thus being invincible, and using the radar, players can find everything.

This whole issue of server locking aside, you sound like a terrible server host to begin with, and I wouldn't be caught dead on a server run by a bunch of guys circlejerking over their own "private" "hardcore" server free of all those "script kiddie bitches"

    YES Adding serious consequences to dying will certainly make death even more undesirable, and it'll cut down on DMing/bean wars in Cherno.
