    Sever clean up

Couple of things that *should* be sorted with priority is server naming. There needs to be some standard when it comes to the name layout. I noticed recently a lot of servers shortened the start of the name, presumably so they can fit more crap in about who hosts the server. Save it for the MOTD if you HAVE to have people know who's hosting. something like: DayZ - UK1 [Veteran] [3rd=0] [tags=0] [uTC] [hostname@hostservice.com] dayzmod.com At the moment filtering is difficult because theres UK# and UK # etc. pointless and difficult to use. I've also wondered why theres no SVN type setup that automatically updates server hive versions. Theres nothing more irritating than finding a server with a good ping that connects quickly, only to find its not updated 3 days after the hive update.
  2. Walked into Stary Sobor camp. Its dark, and i see vehicles parked IN two of the tents. one of them is pretty smashed up, but the other is fine. I get in. BOOM. Vehicle immediately blows up. How? Do the vehicles glitch out and immediately take 100% damage? If so, how did someone manage to park them there without getting blown up themselves? I dont think it was any kind of demo charge (can you even get them in game?) or a sniper round or anything. Which suggests something dodgy is going on. Frustratingly, after running for 35 minutes to get back to my gear, the server shuts down just as my body comes into sight. There goes my M4A3 CCO SD/DMR/G17.

    About the Security Issues

I should be shocked at the fucking cheek these kids have to derail every thread with their own petty demands. Ban the lot of them. Tonic did a pretty good job under the circumstances. Sure, mistakes were made but the issue had potential to spread like wildfire and could have ruined peoples trust in the team very quickly. When the shit hits the fan you dont always have time to put up your umbrella. Well done for taking the time to set things straight to us all anyway.

    Walkie Talkies.

Radio's could be dropped on military/police zombies, with a fixed number of channels and maximum range of 2km or something similar. Very good idea, not sure how often i'd use it. But i'd certainly keep one on me and scan through channels in certain areas listening for trouble.

    Health Regeneration & Eating (v2)

If you want painfully slow regeneration to health, go get yourself shot for real. If you want to cut the number of people playing the game, make health regenerate painfully slowly. Before the thread was lost, people were suggesting 1hp per minute. With the amount of playtime a lot of users have, it would take weeks to regain health. There is a limit to the amount of 'realism' you can add to the game before it stats scaring people off. And "they should man up" isnt a good answer to that.

go 2.0 Leave this sh*t alone for now

I think stabilization of the current feature list is more important than adding features for the timebeing. Wont be any point adding features until the desynchronising and crashy server issue is sorted.

    Forum backup.

Given recent events, and the forums new found popularity along with computers general ability to screw you over at a moments notice. Would it not be a good idea to implement a 24 hour (or even 6/12 hour) automated backup system? I know it adds a little more load to the server, and theres a bit of work to set it up. But losing as much data as we have last night is terrible. Yes, most of the threads weren't "important" and even more of them were complete garbage, but a lot of really good suggestions threads have been lost, and may never be recreated. If the server automatically generates a backup once or twice a day, and saves the last 3 backups (even on another server or user account with access only by one person), it wont impact the server too much, and will really save the embarrasing "sorry we lost all your shit again" thread. Tonic, you seem to have your head buried deep within the forum backend a fair bit. Sort it out mate ;) If not with this forum version, but for the next one!
  8. I think you're running the wrong hive version. I recall that being the issue last time the hive was updated.
  9. I heard there's a new CoD coming out' date=' that should flush em' out [/quote'] Theres /always/ a new CoD coming out. Its unbelievable people are willing to drop so much once a year for the same game!

BIS are giving away copies of Arma X

Getting points is as easy as doing nothing. Go play something. make some tea, watch tv. It literally CANNOT be simpler. Sometimes i wonder how people have the patience to even wait for their computer to start.

    Day Z...WAS.....fun

If i find myself facing someone who is looking intimidating, with a high powered rifle/AK out and aiming at me, I'll aim back with my pistol. The next move the guy makes determines the outcome of the situation. If they make a move that makes me think they're going to try to take me down, I'll either figure out a route to run in (most probably) or take them down if theres nowhere to run. I've been alive long enough to have a decent amount of kit, and i dont want to lose it to some trigger happy twit who just wants to take the easy route. If i do take someone down, its because they were a threat. Its unlikely i'd loot them because i've found out the hard way that shots attract other people. 9 times out of 10 the 'other people' will take me down and get two lots of loot. What does irritate me is when you help someone out and they repay you by putting a round in your chest. I've been in situations where i see a guy running with zombies on his ass. I'll take them out, then the guy turns on me. I've just saved your life, thanks for taking mine.
  12. ...Unless something is done about joining servers. Theres only so many times a 'player' is going to be willing to sit for an hour and wait to connect to a server, before they get bored and play something else. Also, body temperature should not drop so quickly in rain. 10 degrees in just a couple of minutes is crazy. Back to waiting for a server.

    Timing of Patch 1.5.8

Timezones mean you're never going to have real downtime. The only way transitions and mass load can be improved is by hosting the master server on multiple servers. Perhaps running multiple masters, with each master hosting its own 'universe' that servers connect to. Patches can be rolled out over one server at a time, spreading load between them. Makes things a little tricky with the implementation with the Arma browser. But hey, in for a penny...

    Timing of Patch 1.5.8

I'm getting a "Bad version" error on almost every server now. Is that an indication that something is happening? Only server i can connect to is one running a normal mission but with DayZ in the server title. Gits.
