  1. Rotor wash from helicopters would be fun, and being able to help people to walk if they have broken legs. Both features that work well in ACE. There was something else.. But i got "out of memory" errors trying to remember what it was.

    Hotfix Build 1.7.2.5 Rolling Update

Artifacting isnt causing me issues now, however i noticed white flashes in sections of the screen at times. I thought this was a DayZ problem, until it started happening in Operation Arrowhead too. The humanity system seems to be back, and humanity is regenerating over time. The bandit skin switches back to civvy skin after a while, which is a bit irritating when you're fighting zombies and you're suddenly switched to secondary. Backpacks are also invisible when in the bandit skin.
  3. Yeah, grinding would always be an issue. My suggestion of losing skills on death would help keep people from getting levelled super high. Doesnt matter how hard you grind if you get shot in the face by a bandit and lose everything. But if the idea was already dismissed, fair enough.
  4. Actually, to build on that i was pondering the idea of a skill system. Naturally the more you do something, the better you *should* become at it. If you spend a lot of time repairing vehicles, your skill would improve, and you would need less materials to repair a vehicle. Same applies with field medic, rifleman etc. A percentage of skill points could be lost on player death, for added bumfuckery.
  5. I'd like to see a more in-depth wounding system, where different types of wounds need different methods/amounts of healing. Right now, a punch to the face needs the same amount of attention as a gunshot wound to the stomach. I'd like gunshot wounds guaranteeing morphine to help with pain, and perhaps even a mechanic that would cause open wounds to start bleeding again in the event that a player doesnt treat it properly. This could mean that a player wounded in a fight could apply first aid, but still need medical attention to avoid death later on. Many of the features from ACE would work brilliantly within DayZ. Particularly the ability to change weapon attachments. I would love a wear and tear system, that forces the player to look after their tools. having to scavenge a new barrel for your M4 to restore optimum performance would make people think twice before spraying bullets at every opportunity. Being able to find optics, attachments and spare parts would be a fantastic feature that adds another. I wrote a feature suggestion for health restoration and eating, which can be found in my sig below. The inventory system mentioned by OP woul be great. The ACE system would also be a pretty good system to work around, with a weight system, and the weight you're carrying affecting your ability to sprint or even walk in some cases (Try carrying 75kg of satchel charges in ACE). - This forces people to make a decision between mobility and firepower. Whatever happens, an invenoty based on volume as opposed to 'slots' is vital, as 1 rifle != 10 morphine shots.

    Hotfix Build 1.7.2.4 Rolling Update

To the guys having graphical artifacting issues, i think its mostly caused by wire fencing kits. We have noticed the issue several times with 1.7.2.3, mostly occurring in areas with a high volume of kits. I read in a thread a while back that Rocket had resolved the issue with a fixed model, but the problem is most definitely not fixed. Not had much time to test 1.7.2.4 yet, but from the 5 minute dash in the dark last night, the game feels smoother. I didn't notice any login issues, and i like the DayZ loading screen.

This should also be a high priority. My group was attacked yesterday by an invisible guy with a revolver. Perhaps another purge of the dicks that insist on ruining the run of others?

Any word on the desync issues being resolved, or even improved? Things were starting to look really good but have taken a bit of a dive with recent patch(es). I think one more incident like and i'm going to get murdered.

    Sidearm review

The people knocking the M9SD are likely not taking into account the very slow speed of the bullets. I can happily take down Zeds all day long with the M9SD. You just have to shoot where the target is going to be when the bullet hits. - Also not worth bothering if you're not going to go for a headshot. Ammo is far too rare to be spraying everywhere. If i'm in Elektro/Cherno i tend to use a Makarov, even if I've got a decent primary. Firing off an AK or similar rifle attracts unnecessary attention. Sometimes i'll even use it deliberately to lure unsuspecting victims into a killzone. Favorite pistol is probably the M1911, overall. Also, last i checked using silenced bullets in a non-silenced gun doesn't make your gun quiet.

Can you please remove the spawn at Otmel island then? I'd rather respawn and face joining anywhere else if it means i wont lose my pack and gear before even making it to the mainland.

Boo hoo. Patch downloaded nice and quick, which obviously means something was going to go wrong elsewhere. Get stuck on "Waiting for character to create" now.

    Disconnecting to avoid death

3 minutes is a long time. you can easily be discovered in that time. I was parked up in bushes in the middle of nowhere last week waiting for someone and got spotted. 30 seconds is fine IME. If you've not killed the guy by then you probably weren't going to.

Its definitely getting worse right now. I've had another two instances in two days with people ducking into the lobby when they come under fire. Both in Berezino, and both snipers. After breaking one guys legs with an MP5SD i ran around the corner to see nothing there. And just now a guy disappeared after he ran into the building i was in. A simple 5 second timer would have given me the kill in both cases. It seems at the moment the only thing you can do is carry a massive gun so you can get the takedown before they have a chance.
  15. Just recreating a thread that was lost because of the hacker/poor maintenance on the forum admins part. So. At the moment, we get hurt. We bleed out a bit, bandage ourselves, eat 8 steaks and hey presto we're fixed. This is not how 'life' works. We heal over time naturally, and while it is sped up by proper nutrition and hydration, there is no magical fix for blood loss. A system whereby lost blood regenerates over time would improve the game a lot. a natural regeneration of blood on a per-minute basis, which increases for a period after eating, and decreases/stops altogether while dehydrated/starving/ill (infection). In the original thread i posted some figures which i'll repost below, which some agree'd with but others disagreed, opting for a far slower regeneration. The reason i chose the figures i did was because when all is said and done it is a game. Not everybody is going to put up with 1 blood per minute or even 10 and i believe they shouldnt have to play 24 hours a day for a week just to regen to 100%. Limiting the speed at which people can 'heal' will stop situations where player "X" gets into a gunfight, takes damage and runs for cover, eats a fuckload of meat and sprints back into battle completely refreshed and able to take yet more damage. Limited regeneration speed will make players think more about engaging others more instead of just going in guns blazing, knowing they can get back to 100% health in a few seconds. Anyway. The figures i proposed (slightly revised): Regeneration under 'normal' conditions: 50 p/m - ~3 hours to regenerate 10k blood. Regeneration after eating canned food: 100 p/m for 5 minutes. - 100 minutes to regenerate 10k blood. Regeneration after eating cooked meat: 200 p/m for 5 minutes - 50 minutes to regenerate 10k blood. Regeneration whilst dehydrated/starving/ill: None. This opens up options for other regeneration rates, such as regeneration after sprinting, while in shock etc. Lets build on the idea, while remembering that at the end of the day DayZ is a game. While it is meant to be brutal, there is a point where it can become too much and will put people off playing. Not everybody is able to play 8 hour sittings and so if you're never going to regenerate health theres nothing to make people want to play more.
  16. AS50 is a nice rifle, and as Shoarmaboer says it can penetrate certain objects (headshot through a solid metal fence ftw?). Common ammo with the m107, which seems to be as common as DMR rounds at the moment. FN FAL is possibly my favourite assault rifle. Its loud as hell, and ammo is hard to come by, but when you hit someone you know they're hurting. If you're good at conserving ammo it will last a while. After the FAL, the M4A1 CCO SD. Quiet, accurate(ish), painful to be on the wrong end of. MP5SD is a nice SMG, but again as Shoarmaboer says, you've got to be on target with it. You can dump half a mag at someone and they'll still be able to shoot back. Good for silent zombie takedowns though!

No, we dont DESERVE shit. Actually, your whole post is so full of shit i'm not even sure if your just trolling. What you people don't seem to understand is you've not paid for this. Rocket has no obligation to satisfy your needs, or even acknowledge your existance. Even if you had paid for DayZ (which i'll remind you again, you haven't), You would have paid for the game AS IS, in the form it was in when payment was made. I'm sick of people making pointless demands for patches for games. Its a fact of life that a developer cant code for all eventualities, because they don't know what those eventualities will be. If a developer did happen to know every possible issue that their software could have, i'd suggest they stop making fucking video games and switch their attention to curing cancer, or something that actually matters. Hmm. that drifted off a bit. My point is, if you're not happy with the current development process, go play something else and come back in six months when development has moved on a bit. Expecting Rocket to work full time (and then some) on a project and keep YOU updated all the time is a bit much. Downtime is a necessary part of development. If your brain is fried, the coding will go to shit, and you'll be the first to moan about it.

you should disconnect at a save location. (; Not always an option. I've been disconnected from servers in dangerous places so many times i'm beginning to think there's someone watching me and doing it deliberately -.- Never happened to me. Probably your system/connection. Lucky you. Server crash/restart/battleye not responding/ping kick/game crash. Some are my fault, many are not ;)

    Disconnecting to avoid death

Had at least three instances of people quitting during combat in the last 24 hours. Picked up an FN FAL with night scope at a chopper crash this morning. Got all of 10m before i was sniped and killed. Fair enough, i stuck around too long. My teammate was 300m from the area, and rushed in to kill the guy that killed me before he got away with my gear. He see's the guy with the FN FAL, takes a shot at him and the guy disappears to the lobby. As theres no message when somebody does that, you cant prove who it is. He waited for 5 minutes but the guy either quit or sat in the lobby for ages. I didn't quit on the guy that shot me. There was a good 30 seconds between his first shot and the shot that killed me. Plenty of time to quit. I'll definitely think twice about it next time.

My only gripe with the bear traps is people putting them "under" the floor. Places such as Stary Sobor, where the floor surface is below the level of the tents, a bear trap will easily vanish into nowhere until its too late. Are there any plans to fix those funky floors so loot doesn't disappear under them? I think that's what makes bodies disappear very quickly in the camp.
