    Zombie aggro adjustments.

I don't disagree with your points, a lot of the current aggroing/spawning is pretty annoying BUT I also think that zombies do not pose much of a threat as it is, and your proposals would decrease the threat they pose... which I don't want.
  2. I'm not much of a buff on redering posibilities and such... my only thought would be to have only things in a player's LOS render, and make the tall grass more of a solid, opaque object that would better block or obscure a player. I imagine the problem would be the lag, when 50 players are running around fields all over the map and have grass rendering within a 1000 meters of them regardless if another player is hiding or not. What I wouldn't want is what World of Tanks has, where different tanks spot other tanks at varying distances. A large tank can move across an open field and be completly invisible to other tanks watching that field, or a tank hiding in a tree line is totally invisible until a tank is just tens of meters away. Translated to Day Z - I don't want someone to be invisible (not rendered) just because they are crouch running across a field 501 meters away, but if they were 499 meters away, I would see them. can prone across an open field to a chopper crash and an overwatch sniper cannot see them. ... OR! a friendly sniper is covering you from a hill while you raid a hanger... but they lose sight of both you and an enemy moving up to your position because they are crouching and firing.
  3. I understand your point, and in a game like Metro 2033 where each bullet is tracked carefully your idea would have a lot more merit. But say you have 5 partial mags and want to fill them from the box of ammo... why not just find 5 fresh mags? Unless your intent is to have finding hundreds of rounds at a time easier (barracks/heli sites), in which case I certainly say no. Military grade weapons and ammo should be rare and stay rare.
  4. Don't those only track wind speed/direction at the location they are and not 1 kilometer away, where wind speed and direction can be quite different?

    Energy drinks.

Morphine doesn't cure a broken leg either...
  6. QFT I don't buy a lot of games because I'm not sure if I will like them or not... If you don't want to play until the game is refined and "perfect" then don't. The rest of us will slog through the muck of testing and revising to deliver the final game that you so desire.

    Energy drinks.

If/when things like stamina/energy are implemented and people can no longer flat out sprint from map edge to map edge carrying all the gear in the world, I think it would be a great item to include in the game.. As of now? I don't see much of a need or point for them
  8. How would a veteran player gauge wind speed and direction in between them and their target accurately given the restrictions of the game world (no feeling or "customized actions" like tossing grass up in the air) and restrictions of the graphics to give precise visual cues (allowing trees to blow North-Northeast instead of either North or Northeast)?
  9. I get combining lots of partial magazines into one full magazine, but finding individual bullets seems silly to me... Why not just find a full mag and either drop the old one to replace it or hang on to the full and the partial.
  10. Maybe we just have to agree to disagree, then. I can't think of any other game where wind had an actual in game effect other than a background sound effect, let alone had an impact on bullet trajectory. Without reading the wiki in depth, I highly doubt players would realize this is what is causing them to miss their shots based on every other game they've played. Moreover, how would even an experienced player be able to calculate exact wind speed and direction to target? Would there just be a simple wind/no wind condition? Direction is still an issue. In RL It's a lot easier to gauge wind strength and direction based on what we feel, maybe plucking some grass to watch it drift... but our senses are limited in the game, as are the animations of grass, trees, etc... It would almost make it lucky to pull off a shot, which might be what you prefer, but I imagine that a majority would like to see it as skill based as possible with out making it unaccessible to everyone.

    Community banned for hacking?

"I thought it was wierd that he was giving away his AS50 and NVG's, but I didnt think he was a hacker!"
  12. Speaking of blabbering... I'm not sure this is an issue in any of the above posts...
  13. That's much of my point. Learning to use mil dots and calculate/estiamte range is about as complex as shooting should be (aside from realising that sprinting for 5 minutes then trying to fire a .50 calibur rifle, unbraced, while standing is going to be less accurate than firing that same rifle from the prone position with a bipod) Anything that 95% of players can't readily grasp during gameplay is overly complex. The specifics don't matter as much as the concepts, so long as players can understand and adjust is all that matters. GOOD: "Huh, my rounds keep falling short, I guess if I aim 2 dots higher I can hit that guy..." Player doesn't realise explicitly that each dot is used for 100m beynd the zeroed in scope range, but the concept is easily grasped, even through trial and error. BAD: "ZOMGWTFBBQQQQ! I had that bandit dead in my properly zoomed crosshairs just standing still and I missed high and right by 10 meters!?!! BS!" Player doesn't realize that he was firing across a East-West Valley and the strong wind carried his round off target and the warm air in the sunny valley kept his bullet more aloft than normal, nor would he be able to conceptualize these things easily to figure it out through reasonable trial and error.

    Increase zombie spawn radius

It would also spawn zombies proximate to said sniper. Not knowing if he or someone else spawned the zombies and the potential of the more dangerous zombies to harm the sniper himself if he isn't paying attention to his surroundings address these issues... at least for me... You disagree?

    Increase zombie spawn radius

^This. Think about all the times zombies would needlessly spawn in for places beyond your sight distance. Someone could be in Prigorodky but spawning zombies in Cherno, Electro and Pusta. I personally think that fewer, more dangerous zombies that spawn around players (not just around buildings) would curb the lag and spawning concerns.

    Blood icon --> blood/health bar

This... is actually not a terrible idea. Beans.
  17. It's harder to become a hero than a bandit... KoS is the true coward's path IMO

    Fist fun

If it were easy to do, there would certainly be no reason to fear the zeds at all. It's bad enough that they pose almost no threat once weapons are aquired, if I could give them right after spawning... where's the tension...? Adding a melee option to all weapons (riflebutt, pistol whip, etc) would be a great idea. It would allow you to not carry a formal melee weapon, or at least have to switch to it, when you need to take down a zed quietly... or without using ammo... or when you feel like giving it a personal touch...
  19. I agree with luke, but to elaborate even more, a lot of the symptoms begin to overlap with other conditions experienced by the character and makes remedying them difficult to do accurately. Granted, this is a realistic fear (I might take painkillers/headache medicine when I am actaully dehydrated, for example) but as far as gameplay/fun goes i don't think it would add a useful element,,, especially when the HUD is removed and you will already be guessing a little as to what is wrong and how to fix it.

Give Me a Reason To Kill Zeds

I have killed them out of desperation before. I had just respawned and was quickly starving (had water, but no food). So I took my winnie and started shooting up a small town in the hopes I would find some beans... All I got was some nasty sardines though

    Evacuation mode

I have never played CoD. Sorry bro. The point is that it can be totally ignored by people who choose not to participate, even within the same server. Just like how some people can choose to be d!ckb@gs on forums because their mothers didn't hug them enough as children while others act with a little more class.

    Fist fun

A few comments... Ability to punch - I don't like the inclusion of it. Going into unarmed combat against a zed never ends well for humans (Source: every zombie movie ever) and using it against other players... They would have to be unarmed too and this would serve no purpose... They obviously are new spawns with nothing of value and would just encourage, in your words, sillyness in an otherwise grim game. MAYBE a shove option (I think L4D has this) where it deals no damage but zeds can be shoved away, allowing the player an opportunity to escape. More improvised weapons - Agreed, things like knives, baseball bats, golf clubs, etc should all be available to use as melee weapons. I also think this is an obvious flaw with the current game that the Devs are well aware of and intend to fix. In the mean time, in case you were unaware, all those tin cans that you pass up... they CAN BE USED TO KILL ZEDS. That's right. They are damage dealing projectile weapons. Jumping - If jumping is included, it will have to be a VERY LIMITED use. No bunny hopping, no jumping and shooting, none of it. It should have a very limited use. The only thing I can think of that isn't currently covered by vaulting is rooftop to rooftop... That said, vaulting should be expanded to move up onto low ledges and things like that, versus the one manuever that exists currently.
