Is DayZ becoming a shoot'em up game?

This post has my beans. And your grammar was MUCH better than most English speakers on the internet

What are some common camp spots

Definately by pobeda and Guba. Also, If you see the tent's owner online, wait until he leaves his tent, then prone crawl inside of it. When he returns to his tent, shoot him in the face.

    notebook/pencil

Something for the more creative players to tell their story, or for tactical players to mark the cords of a point of interest, or for bandits to leave on corpses to lure survivors into a trap. I honestly think these would be a great way to add a story element to the game. They would be found in residential spawns and would take up 1 backpack/inventory slot. When a player dies, another survivor would be able to pick it up, read the other player's and continue where he left off.

Make zombies a little more slower and allow grouping.

INFO MAN WE NEED INFOOOO I think I like the idea, but we NEED clarification

    remove helicopter or nerf it

Well, most military pilots do, and from what it looks like, the characters are military survivors. So there is a good chance that most of them would have been trained. I do agree that they need a nerf. Here's my suggestion: Take off the guns from the helicopter, but allow players to use their firearms while in the "gunners seat". That way, people can still shoot from a heli, but I think an airborne lee enfield is a lot less threatening than mounted airborne M240s

    Add AR-15s in the standalone.

No point. Ar-15 is the exact same thing as the M16A1 I mean literally the EXACT SAME THING M16 is just the military designation for the AR-15. I doubt it could possibly be your favorite gun if you know nothing about it.
  9. So I spawned into a Celle server expecting a great new DayZ map, and I immediately got shot before I could even see my character. this reapeated about 3 or 4 times, so I assumed the server was full of douchers, so I tried a few others. Had the same experience on every single one. All I know so far is that I spawn next to a river. The farthest I got was taking about 10 steps. Looks like It's back to Panthera for me

first and last time playing Celle

no. this IS A PVP MAP I've been able to make friends with people on every other map. The other day on lingor, I rolled with another guy for a while and gave him my SAW upon leaving. I also just saved a guy's ass on Namalsk, got my ass saved on Chernarus, and worked with 4 other randoms to repair a chinook on Fallujah. this map is PVP

Remove all the thermal stuff (solved)

I don't think thermal should be removed, necessarily, but it shouldn't be on weapons. Maybe incorperate it into a rarer binoculars. Or, if they must have a thermal weapon, at least give a defense for it. Like something to hid the heat signature a bit.

Poll: Which DayZ map is your favorite?

Right now, Panthera and Namalsk. I have to admit, Namalsk was fun, but I'm sort of tired of it now. it's cool and all, but 90% of the time I die in my struggle to get supplies from the hospital and vorkuta. Panthera is a really beautiful map and it has some pretty cool environments as well.

  16. So, up until now, I've been trying to play the hero, and it hasn't worked out in my favor, so I'm going for the bandit playstyle. I do have a few questions about it though Where is the best area to hunt? Don't say Cherno/Elektro. I'm talking north of moglievka. What's the best approach? open fire when I have a shot or is it worth stalking them for a bit? what are the best ways to stay hidden? I know the map well, but always seem to run into hostiles even in the most remote forests. Thanks in advance

A few questions about being a bandit

Oh, don't mistake me for a newbie, I'm very familiar with having vehicles and helicopters, but I was able to get them before by grouping up with friends and pretty much avoiding players altogether. I'm just looking for advice on the bandit playstyle, because I'm not too great at the Pvp aspect unless I get the jump on someone, I'm looking for where I can find and stalk players to kill. So far, I've gathered that I should look in the region between Novy and the Airfield.

When is the standalone actually coming out?

Coming out in december, according to Game.Minder

    Workbenches and weapon upgrades

I like this, but please, no dual wielding. I don't think shooting a .45 revolver in each hand is very good for your wrists. I mean, some of the pistols out there have some pretty nasty recoil

    Abandoned Camp Sites

Essentially the "mid-tier" equivalent of heli crash sites. There would be two types of sites: hunting, and survivor What are they? Camping sites from either before or very early after the outbreak. They would contain 2-5 non-removable tents, mostly survival supplies, and a firepit with some wood piles Where are they? In the dense forests around the map. Hunting sites would be closer to rural areas, like small towns, while survivor sites would be closer to military areas, like airfields or bases. (note that even though I said "closer to" the camp sites would still be a distance away from the towns and airfields. Nobody goes camping right outside their house) How rare are they? Slightly more common than heli crashes. there would be about 5 hunting sites and 4 survivor sites per map. What dangers/loot are there? Loot: Hunting: These campsites would be from just before the apocalypse. Some of the hunters from a rural town were out on a hunting trip when the outbreak started. Therefore, there would be residential and farm type loot. This includes: hunting rifles/shotguns (Lee Enfield, Double-Barrel shotgun, CZ550, Crossbow, Winchester 1866) Bear Traps Ghillie suits Water Bottles Food(maybe cans, bur primarily cooked/raw meat) Wood Piles Tools(Hunting Knife, Box of Matches, Map, hatchet, watch, compass, Binoculars, and possibly a GPS) Czech/Alice packs Bandages Heatpacks Survivor: These campsites would be from a day or so after the outbreak. After escaping the military bases, a few soldiers set up camp in an area that they thought was safe. The loot here consists of a combination of military and hunting loot. This includes: Light, lower tier military firearms especially suppressed ones (AK variants, MP5/MP5SD, M4 variants, M16A2 w/ or w/o GL, Remmington 870, M1014, and all pistols except for revolvers) M203 Flare Road Flares Coyote Backpack Smoke grenade M67 grenade All tools mentioned above +NV goggles +military flashlight -hatchet Ghillie Suit Camo clothes Water bottles Food Bandage Morphine Painkillers Heatpacks Dangers: Hunting: 1-5 normal zombies Possibly 1-2 set bear traps within 200m of the site, but only if the terrain doesn't cover them up too much Survivor: 5-15 military zombies What should NOT Spawn? Hunting: Pistols- No one goes hunting with a pistol Assault Rifles/Submachine guns- It's bad enough that the deer stands have automatic weapons, you don't take a military-grade full auto weapon to hunt, that's overkill EDIT: I was mistaken about the definition of a deer stand, so disregard that offhand comment Pistol ammo-unless these hunters were loading their shotguns with makarov ammo, theres no need to have it Survivor: Revolver- civillian firearm LMGs- too much of a hassle for a soldier to carry while running from zombies High-tier weapons- too similar to a heli crash Sniper/hunting Rifles- unless the people who set up this site were retarded, there shouldn't be sniper rifles here EDIT: allow me to elaborate on the "no sniper rifles" thing. When writing this, I was thinking in the situation of a soldier escaping from a zombie infested base. Knowing what I know about zombies, with their extraordinary sense of hearing, I don't see why the soldiers who would have made these campsites would have taken sniper rifles with them. What's the point? To make the forests in the game more exciting To help players become better equipped if they did not find all the supplies they needed in Cherno/Elektro To add a bit of a backstory to the game To make cooked/raw meat available as loot

woah, I never thought about it that way, really good point.

    Abandoned Camp Sites

That overturned truck thing also sounds like a great idea. I think randomized events like that could really help bring some backstory to the game, like what happened right after the outbreak. Of course, these should be seldom, so as not to make the game too easy, but it could really make the game more exciting.

    Abandoned Camp Sites

Put yourself in this situation: You are a soldier stationed in a military base. You wake up in the middle of the night to see that 90% of your fellow soldiers are now undead killing machines. You gear up with the essentials (MREs, water, a tent, backpack, knife, compass, etc) and you think, "I need a way to protect myself" Do you choose the suppressed assault rifle that can fire 30 shots before a reload, or do you choose the obnoxiously loud rifle that has a limited fire rate? Apologies if I am thinking too much about backstory here, but while I was coming up with the loot list I was thinking about how the soldiers who made the camp would have gotten there, and what materials they would have taken with them Also, Thanks to everyone here for their feedback! I honestly didn't expect so much positive feelings about this, especially on the internet of all places.
