  1. Thanks for pointing this out. I'll fix it in the next survey.
  2. Initial results are in! Remember to leave a post after taking the survey or checking out the results! This survey is only as good as many people get to participate.
  3. Good point. Thing is, most of the given choices in that questions relate to things that objectively need ironing out. I think everyone would agree that they'd like DayZ better if there were less bugs, less hackers, less cheaters, if the tents were more reliable, etc. So I don't really see any point in making this question multiple choice when everyone would give the same answer. Now forcing people to choose their biggest pet peeve can help the developers adjust their efforts to community's feedback.
  4. According to the preliminary results, nowadays only 7% of players tends to team up with random strangers so some significant changes are already visible.
  5. Actually I was thinking that it'd be cool if the only way to lose the bandit skin was to equip one of the findable ones. So survivors would have to decide if it's better for other people not to see you at all or to let them see that you're trustworthy. Bandits wouldn't have much to whine about either.
  6. I considered doing it that way, but I figured that having to choose single, most irritating thing about the game will bear more significant results. I might do it the other way next month. There are so many things people like about DayZ it would take me hours to list them all.
  7. I'm perfectly aware of it, it's just that I don't really see any issue here. It's not as if it's confusing which answer you should choose. Not to mention that it's a great way of having people bump this thread.
  8. Whistling. A short whistle bound to a key, similar to the salute animation. It would become a generally accepted and understood sign of friendliness, but one that doesn’t also require you to fully surrender your character to a stranger. Why would it work? According to this survey (https://spreadsheets.google.com/viewanalytics?formkey=dFpVdWltTGRHZVBSSkpIV1lQSmdWS2c6MQ#gid=0 question #9), only 25% of the players kill others for the thrills or the loot. Most of us don’t want to kill other players (at least not on sight) and do so only to avoid being killed themselves. Which is pretty silly. I’m all for PvP. Without the ever present threat of bandits and deceit DayZ would become extremely boring. It’s just the fact that a lot of people who don’t want to shoot each other are forced to kill one another only because they don’t have sufficient means of communicating their intentions that I find silly. Currently if you spot a stranger in your vicinity you can try to avoid him, risking getting shot in the back, or take the safe route of killing him yourself. You can try talking to him, but in the time it takes you to write your message he might spot you and he’ll be faced with the same decision. Kill or try to avoid. Most of us would choose the safe route. Whistling would allow you to inform the stranger of your presence so that he won’t be spooked when he finally sees you. It’ll also communicate your good intentions since you disclosed your general location to him. It’ll also give both of you time to exchange a few messages in chat, so that you can get acquainted. What it won’t do, is surrender your character. No special animation, you’re still in control of your character and he doesn’t even have to see you to get the message. It’s very easy to implement, it doesn’t interfere with the realism and probably it won’t even work. Still, I’d really like to see it in the game. Just for this slight chance that it will make things more civil.
  9. Firstly, I don't really see how it's insulting to lesbians and gays. Secondly, gender is binary. A fraction of the population will have developed sexual characteristics that don't fit their chromosomal gender, but it doesn't mean that they can actually change their gender later on. They can only put/remove a wiener between their legs. Gender stays the same.
  10. 200K-300K-400K growth isn't exponential.
  11. From what I've heard you can break someones bones and cause bleeding if you land your shot properly. So throwing a tin can isn't really the best way of saying friendly. It would be pretty hilarious to stone someone to death with tin cans though/
  12. That would actually work wonders but I don't see rocket implementing it since it would decrease the realism. And just to emphasize: whistling is not meant to deal with banditry. It's meant to decrease hostilities between friendly survivors.

  15. Dunno if it's coincidence or some sort of twisted sense of humor but the bot was 666th respondent and onward.
