Being a hero versus being a bandit
The_Dude (DayZ) replied to The_Dude (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
I disagree. You are assuming that the person was a bandit. There were no other dead survivors in the vicinity. Besides, killing someone who is helpless would truly be evil in my opinion. Not my style at all, never will be. Hopefully the stand alone game will reward players who choose humanity first. -
Day of a n00b, You might find this funny ;-)

Hang in there! Early on I died of dehydration...... LOL -
That guy looks like a dirtbag Jihadist, not some ragtag bandit.

How about area where the "infection" is still present and there is a chance that the player could contract it? The risk to enter such an area would be good gear. If one were to find a MOP suit or some such thing, then those areas would poss much less risk to the player...

More Realistic Starvation and Thirst

Great stuff! -
Im not sure I want Resident Evil type beasties, but perhaps something like STALKER to spice things up... a few AI based human opponents. Perhaps an element of rogue military that has no tolerance for zombies OR humans of any sort. These folks would be focused on killing zombies, but would assume that any humans in the vicinity of zombies would be infected and as a result, become a target for said military types. Proper skins would make these folks different from other player types. They could have varying degrees of competence and equipment so that if a player is lucky enough to kill one, they be rewarded appropriately

What exactly does humanity do for a player anyway? (dumb question Im sure)

"This aggression will not stand, man!" -The Dude abides.

Make zombies more effective indoors. It sure is easy to lure them into a house and pick them off one by one. It would seem that they should be able to maneuver the same indoors as outdoors.

Ooooh! Cool. Missed that one. Thanks for the info!

Look me up! The_Dude. I'd be happy to travel with a fellow survivor and watch each other's back.

Give Current Dayz Players Free Game Keys On Release
The_Dude (DayZ) replied to Mikeloeven (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I have no problem paying for a standalone DayZ. The devs have to make money somehow, and giving up a million+ sales would be crazy. -
Good stuff!

The Return of Starting With a Weapon
The_Dude (DayZ) replied to Newsflash's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
While I dont agree that spawning with a gun is necessary, I think a bat, axe, or knife would be acceptable. Let's face it... if your tough enough to be a survivor, youre smart enough to leave your house with some kind of weapon. -
Umm.... ALPHA. 'nuff said.

Noob here. Seems to me that anyone with half a brain could find a stick, golf club, pocket knife, fireplace poker, or even a kitchen knife to defend themselves with before venturing out. Starting with NO weapon seems overly harsh and borderline unrealistic. Its like they dropped you from the sky into the wilderness to start out. I for one could find a ton of weapons before even leaving my garage... Dont get me wrong, I LOVE the game, but any pointy object SHOULD be part of the starting equipment.

A way to help curb the amount of pointless murders by people.
The_Dude (DayZ) replied to Bratalise's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I personally think that after a certain random number of murders, the perpetrator's gun should explode, killing them instantly. -
Being a hero versus being a bandit
The_Dude (DayZ) replied to The_Dude (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
I understand what you are saying to a point... but the mentality propagated by calling those who try to help others "carebears" is ridiculous. The real problem is the "jerkoffs" seem to outweigh the "carebears" by a large margin, making it a challenge to enjoy the game sometimes. Maybe in the future there will be some nice perks earned by HELPING and not harming folks. I for one, if stuck in an apocalypse such as this, would prefer human company to zombies any day. -

I maintain my earlier sentiment. -
Being a hero versus being a bandit
The_Dude (DayZ) replied to The_Dude (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
While I feel that anarchy is certainly an element in a apocalypse, outright murder against someone who poses little or no threat is ridiculous. First rule of combat: Strength in Numbers. Second Rule: Watch your ASS -
Sadly, I think it will be a laggy mess for you pal. I run it on an Intel Core 2 Extreme (2.93ghz) / Radeon 6870 and for the most part it runs well, Less so in groups.

The_Dude (DayZ) replied to The_Dude (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Well, after some more scavenging (about 4 hours of game time), I finally found an AK-74 and a Makarov. GODS I feel better, though I still believe that at the very least a knife should be available from the beginnning. -
Welcome! I'm a one weeker myself.... its rough going but FUN!

I bought the game just for the mod. WOW.... SO worth it. PLUS the base Arma servers are pretty fun too!
