Suggestion; Zombie Logic Pathing
The_Dude (DayZ) replied to Expressen's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
yeah, the whole zig-zagging zombie thing is pretty stupid. It suggests that they have fear of being shot. I assume that zombies have no fear, or emotion for that matter. -
Any 40 somethings play this game?
The_Dude (DayZ) replied to RonSoda1970's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
48 here. I'm on Chicago 56. Stop by and we will slay some zeds! -
The_Dude here. Survivor, wanna be hero.

DUDE... this is a suggestion for the standalone, not the hacker infested mess that this game is right now. LOLOLOLOLOL
-
Thats one version.... other battery types offer longer charges. The battery time would be persistent... so even tho you play for a couple hours one day and five hours another... that would add up over time to deplete the battery.
-
Standard issue US Army goggles: http://www.atncorp.c...-vision-goggles Keep in mind that 60 hours of battery life is pretty darned good, especially when used sparingly.... they could last a very long time before needing new batteries.

Nice reply, thanks. I think perhaps the main reason I suggested this to begin with is to ease the frustration factor for new players... usually after the first death you have a pretty good idea about game mechanics, enemies, etc.... the first life is more like a tutorial. Anyway, just a suggestion after all.

Tweak the inevitable - Zombies in buildings
The_Dude (DayZ) replied to #Sleepy's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I think its weird that no zombies are ever in buildings to begin with.... I mean if people were dying from infection, wouldnt it stand to reason that some of them would die at home in bed, etc? -
Its pretty clear that this suggestion will not have the possibility of implementation until the standalone.... Hackers be damned!
-
Garden gnomes.... made out of C4! yesssss.

If your looking for realism, then infinite powered NV goggles aint it, pal.

Not butthurt, just making a suggestion that CAN work.

some ideas to make the game harder in PvE
The_Dude (DayZ) replied to SoWeMeetAgain's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I have no problem with night vision, but it should have a battery life.... and those batteries should be fairly rare, -
This could work if hacking is addressed in the standalone. Perhaps implement a stiff penalty of some sort following the first death, a penalty that can possibly be reversed through some action or completion of an objective.

Study Body in stand alone.
The_Dude (DayZ) replied to BongdongchongGhost's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
"This body is... oh SHIT! Its a zombie!!!" -
Night time pointless? Gamma fix.
The_Dude (DayZ) replied to andrewmont's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I play at night sometimes and do not adjust the gamma, nor do I have NV goggles. needless to say it's scary as poop, but that's one of the reasons I love this game - the fear factor. If you have a friend and co-op through a town like Cherno, it can be a big rush. My buddy and I snuck around in there for a few hours just last night, and although we had a few close calls and stirred up the hornets nest of zombies on more than one occasion, good communication saved the day in almost every account. I only had to bandage once at any rate. It was an absolute BLAST! -
GREAT idea!

Well, I had one of those "crossroads" moments in DAYZ today, and Im thankful that I chose the path of good. I was scavenging near some abandoned hangars and noticed another survivor standing in a copse of trees to the rear of one of the hangars. This dude appeared to be loaded, with at the very least some kind of sweet sniper rifle slung on his back. After waiting for a few seconds, I noticed no movement. I crept right up behind him and still no movement. I decided that he was afk. Now, I could have wasted him right there and taken his stuff, but I didnt. I guess I feel like survivors need to watch out for each other rather than kill each other for supplies that could fairly easily be scavenged peacefully. Does anyone have a similar story to share?

Two words: Alpha Mod Figure out the rest.

Although I think this faction possibility would make for alot more wanton killing, I think on some scale it could be added. The only issue is that heroic types (striving for humanity) would be severely outnumbered by not only zeds, but bandits and NOW cannibals. How about some folks who are more helpful? Maybe a faction that specializes in medicine and health related things, like the CDC. They could have custom gear and be helpful to those in need and also have the know how to combat zombies in unique ways...

2 to 4 player co-op vs AI bandits and zombies would be amazing.

Being a hero versus being a bandit
The_Dude (DayZ) replied to The_Dude (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
Fun is a matter of opinion. I maintain that there should be checks and balances in place to both reward helpful and punish undo wanton behavior. Maybe if a better barter system were in place there would be less need for so much killing of each other. The ZOMBIES are the real enemy!
