    Freeside Trading Co.

Just want to make sure people see the "UNOFFICIAL" bit. Everybody needs to understand that while Freeside can't control what its members do on their own time, Freeside will never organize full-scale raids on other peoples hard-earned stuff. As of right now, we aren't punishing members for doing so, but rest assured that nobody will be subjected to any vengeance for defending their tents from attacks by Freeside members. However, it should also be noted that engaging Freeside members on official raids on loot-spawning areas could result in a permanent spot on the Freeside shit-list. How will you tell the difference between official teams and unofficial teams? Simply follow the Upcoming Events section, thought be aware that said section may or may not be moved to the official Freeside online forums at a later date. Find these at: http://freesidetrading.co/forum/

    Freeside Trading Co.

It's not, yet. Trial runs have been done, and work is currently going towards a more permanent establishment.

Yeah, honestly we're all better off with you holding on to it until something more permanent has been set up.

    Freeside Trading Co.

Wolfgang, it's not quite in a state of permanence yet. Still in the trial run phase. However, as one might glean from the threads, it's also moving forward at a decent pace, what with a website now being set up, and a server being on the way. There's committed people on the project, and it's looking bright ahead :)

All sounds very nice, but I just gotta say one thing. Please don't link your BF3 stats to prove your worth as an ArmA player, and if you decide to do so anyway, then for the love of all that's good, don't link your Console stats? :P I don't doubt that you could make a 1500 meter kill in BF3, and frankly I'd consider it a pretty good job for a stick-jockey, but BF3 has zero to do with ArmA, and I think you know that :P
  7. People owning military-grade weaponry in the US is kind of a mute point when the zombie apocalypse is supposedly taking place in a country formerly part of the USSR? Despite my general dislike for the Russian weapon style, there's already an extreme overabundance of western weapons in the game.

Just need a rule of people shouting "Outgoing (fire)" before firing. If you take fire, obviously you can shout "Incoming (fire)". Proper use of short-form communication is gonna be essential. One of the most important things is contact drills, and learning how to accurately give other players a good idea of where the people you spotted are at. "Over there, near that odd tree", just doesn't cut it :P

    Kill or be killed (PVP)

I've basically had the same experiences as you. I'm about 135-150 hours in at this point, and I've so far been "forced to" kill survivors on thirteen occasions. When I say "forced to", I mean people who had me cornered, and moved in on me after I told them where I was, and not to do so. This seems to happen mostly in Firestations, and for that reason I haven't set foot in one since the 60-hour mark. When I see other players, I factor in a couple of things: How far away is he? Did he see me? Do I have an escape route? Which weapon(s) does he carry? All of that helps me decide whether or not the guy is a threat. If I'm 400 meters out and he's carrying an AKS-74U, he's not really much of a threat, so I'll happily leave him alone, or observe him from a distance. But if I meet a guy carrying a sniper rifle around a small town, with wide open fields all around... that constitutes a "no escape route" situation, and I will shoot the guy down. I won't hesitate, but I will feel remorse. He had been carrying an AKS-74U, the open fields would have been safe enough for me to just run out of there. People who throw smoke grenades at me, those get a full metal jacket makeover, without the remorse.
  10. Last time I died, the char had probably logged about 30-35 hours in-game. Not sure how many days, I don't pay attention to that. I basically killed myself by accidentally toggling Run, resulting in me throwing myself off of the Berezino Hospital roof. At time of death I was carrying an M4A3 CCO, Backpack (Coyote), NVG, Rangefinder, GPS, M9SD, Ghillie and an M24. I felt kinda stupid.

Be or not to be friendly?

Well, would you trust some random dude claiming to be friendly? If he's friendly, he won't shoot you, and if he isn't, he'll say he is and shoot you anyway. Every time I see someone go "Friendly?", I laugh to myself. It's so damn naive. After playing something like 120-140 hours, I''ve only trusted people three times, and on each occasion I'd been observing them for 30 minutes or more, and seen them run into other survivors without going hostile. And each of those times, we had a load of fun for multiple hours, going on until everybody had to leave for the real world. I've helped people without them knowing it was me as well. Stuff like shooting Zs chasing another guy, helping him out that way.

Be or not to be friendly?

"Kill on sight" is kind of a dumb thing to say. After all, I've seen people at 600 meters, and when I do, I just avoid them. The dangerous thing is when you're running around and suddenly come face to face with someone you had no idea was there. That's when you need to make a decision. Did he see you? What weapon does he have? Can you get away from wherever you are without him seeing you? Like, if I'm sitting in Sosnovka, I can get into a nearby treeline and hide. But if I was at Vybor, there'd be no cover to conceal my escape, he'd probably just see me running across the plains. Then, if he has a Remington 870 and an M1911, that's not really a problem. But if he's carrying anything with a magnified scope on it... I'mma have to shoot him. I've also had to shoot some people who were stupid enough to keep moving closer, after I told them exactly where I was, and not to go there. Bottom line, I'll try to avoid you if it's safe for me to do so, but if it's not, or you've got me backed into a corner, whether you know about it or not, my safety comes before yours.

    dual weild pistols?

That's only ever gonna be remotely effective at point-blank range, and then you're still gonna be better off using one pistol, unless maybe if your targets are 180 degrees apart. You might be able to muscle through the recoil of two Glock 17s, but you'll never get proper posture and position. Recoil control will be horrendous.

    Master Computer just to use

Meh. I'd have spent half the money making something twice as powerful, and put the rest in the bank. Like a smart person :P

Can we have more weapons plox?

Sorry for messing up correct grammar at this early hour. Thanks for not taking advantage. But you're right, the 1887 shouldn't be that easy to find either, but that wasn't the point. Fixing this gun-porn problem - and I'll be happy to admit I love gun-porn too - wouldn't be beneficial to gameplay in any way. All you'd be doing is change a weapon that has a place, into one that nobody will use, 'cus it's crap and the ammo is rare. Eventually, it should be fixed, sure. But it's about a thousand steps down the line of priority, long after more non-military weapons are added.

Can we have more weapons plox?

Even if the Winchester was a a shotgun, 100 yards is easily doable. The problem with shotguns firing slugs isn't that they can't be lethal at 250-300 yards, it's that they rarely have a proper sight. They can kill, you just can't aim them well enough. Back in the old days, hitting anything beyond 50 was a pipe dream, but in these our modern times, someone realized that if you can't rifle the barrel of a shotgun, you can just rifle the slug instead. As for the .44-40 being the Winny's real-life round, I have to say I don't see much of a reason to change it. The .44-40 is basically just a .45 ACP round, right? Same velocity, same mass, or just about? If I'm correct, changing the round would have no effect other than giving it a different name, seeing as the ammo type is currently used exclusively for the Winny. And if it is changed, the Winny suddenly becomes a useless weapon, 'cus old west lead ball .44-40 rounds don't grow on trees like 12Gauge does, taking away the biggest point in favor of the Winny.

Obvious troll is obvious. No dual-wielding. Movies =/= Real Life/Simulators

    Pending Hotfix: Build 1.7.1.2

Gonna be fun getting to go Freeman on them :P
  20. It's true Cat, the main thing with the Huey is to not get shot at. But all that means is you need a good pilot, and whenever you go anywhere, you need to have a good idea of how you're gonna get there, where you'll land and when you'll do so. Me, I was trained in the ShackTac TTP2, and part of that training involved pre-flight planning, just like any real-life scenario would. Also, why Elektro? Plenty of other places to get fuel and parts, no? :)
