Go on a full populated public hive and stand in the middle of Electro, Cherno, or NWA, you'll get in a firefight in no time. Honestly though firefights are scary as hell when you have good gear or just don't want to die. Nothing gets my adrenalin rushing like a firefight in DayZ. The pop and cracks of the bullets whizzing by, the sound of you taking a hit, and just the fear and rush of the moment makes it crazy. Yeah there are times I like to get in firefights or want to get in one, but once I do I no longer want to. Instead it instantly becomes a fight to survive and never enjoyable at the moment. When the firefight is over and I survived or got away, I sometimes look back and think, "That was kind of fun." But that is rare. Most of the time I think of how lucky I am to be alive. I've been in countless firefights and a TON of crazy ones back when I was a bandit. It seems like you never fully get use to firefights. Yeah there are times when I think, "Well here we go again. Time shoot back and drop this guy." But every time I get in a firefight, it is always a fight for survival. Where am I going with this post? Well what I'm trying to get across that PVP isn't exactly something you want a lot of. Unless you are a COD style player. Yeah PVP defintley keeps stuff fun and interesting at the end of the day, but it's generally in heat of the battle, it's not fun.

How to kill Ivan (patient zero) ?
Skat3rat replied to Serious Stan's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Everyone is correct about popping him in the head. I wonder if one AS50 or M107 shot to the head is enough or if it'll take several rounds. -
The first time you got good gear
Skat3rat replied to AfterShave's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I remember when I found my first good gear. My friend and I were getting ready to leave electro when we here a few gun shots rip out. We were at the firestation next to the power plant. My friend looked out a window and saw a body. He said the body had a big gun on it. I told him I would check his body. The guy had an AS50 and several other end game items. I flipped. It was my first time find gear this good. We began to leave and go up small sniper hill when we found a sniper's body. He had everything including a Thermal AS50. My friend and I had only been playing DayZ for a few weeks and couldn't believe what we had just found. We grabbed all his gear and were about to book it out of Electro when we saw a survivor run into the firestation with a bandit chasing him. We decided to try and save the survivor with our new guns. Sadly the bandit killed the guy but wasn't able to get away with the loot. When he left the firestation I popped him. After that we left Electro. We were the happiest Bambis of the day. -
DayZ Developer blog 26th April, Video from PAX and our latest "building"

From the pictures that you can see outside, it kind of looks like the texture details are turned down so maybe shadows were turned off when the pictures were taken? -

That looks really cool. Keep up the good work guys. I know not everyone is going to like what I'm about to say but, take however long you need to get SA polished and ready. I've said this countless times before and I'll say it again, I'd rather have a furbished game with as much content as possible, than a glitchy and lacking content game that will need updates repeatedly. -
I like Namalsk. Gives a very hardcore challenge and the blood suckers are scary.

Yeah you have too keep killing people to keep the bandit skin. You can still be a bandit wtih out the skin though. You are a bandit at heart.

The big "why the standalone will win" thread
Skat3rat replied to ponc's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
IMO I think DayZ SA will succeed but it does have the chance to fail. Of course I want it to succeed however. -
I once hit a bandit so hard with my car that his body turned into a fish.

100% accurate.

There are still vanilla servers. You just got to look.

I lost a chopper because of that.

I think it's just that a lot of people have grown tired of the mod. -
g36c not sure if its a great gun
Skat3rat replied to jdtherocker's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I honestly don't like the G36. It doesn't have that great of range and isn't the greatest for PVP. I'll choose the G36 over an AK but that is about it. For just killing zombies the rifle is decent though. -
More realism and player stats suggestions
Skat3rat replied to Ken Bean's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Though the idea of it might make people less willing to die or take risky chances, the reality of stats doesn't work well in DayZ. As stated countless times, Rocket wants the player himself/herself to adapt and not the in game character. As far as your suggestion about Protection and Dynamic Zed Perception, SA will be incorporating this I believe. From what I've read and watched, it is to my belief that different clothing and gear will have different affects, protection, and roles. I'm not sure about whether or not different clothing and gear will make different noises, but it would be cool if it did. As Serious Stan said, food conditioning wouldn't work well for canned foods. Meat on the other hand would. Would be interesting to see something like that in SA. -
longest time you have spent crawling for morphine?
Skat3rat replied to jdtherocker's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Not sure. I personally would of just killed myself then run back for my gear. -
longest time you have spent crawling for morphine?
Skat3rat replied to jdtherocker's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
My friend's friend crawled from NWA to Electro to get morphine. It took him seven hours. -
Mine is named after an African giraffe's dick. He was the chillest giraffe you'll ever meet.

Same. Except I just left it there for someone else to have since I didn't feel like taking the time to repair it. My UAZ is good enough for me.

AK-47 IRL comaprison to in-gam AKM! [VIDEO 3minutes]
Skat3rat replied to heyitscody's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
Cool video, man! Would like to see more. -
I kind of like the idea. Rocket has already stated that the damage system is being completely re done in SA. When you get hit in SA it is going to hurt. No matter what gun it is. I think there should be a small chance to survive getting shot in the head. I was watching a WWII documentary on youtube yesterday and some guy in the battle of the bulge got shot in the face five times and lived. So there is the possibility of surviving a headshot IRL.

High end Pc Yet low frames per second! Need help!
Skat3rat replied to Skynight's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
What Darryl said. It's just how Arma 2 is. You can run every other game out there at 60+ fps but still have issues with Arma. -
Yeah. It's something that has been suggested for a long time now.
