I agree with this. I didn't mean by my earlier post that adding these things would stop KoS. Instead I meant that it would give players who KoS out of boredom, something to do. KoS is one of the things that makes DayZ the game that it is. You never know if the person you're approaching is friendly, or will kill you. Imo unless they add something in stand alone that will make you actually feel bad about shooting someone, KoS will continue to happen. What I'm hoping though is that players will have stuff to do beside KoS just because there is nothing to do. @Fraggle I agree about the whole bandit robbing people thing. I've only robbed a few people before and like you said, most just abort.

I agree that adding more things won't stop KoS all together but what I do mean is that adding more stuff will hopefully give players more stuff to do beside just KoS. For example, a player finally has a gun, ammunition, food and water, and basic tools. However instead of not having anything else to do but kill players, he could work on building a base for example. I don't mean that KoS will stop, but players will have more to do than go around shooting people. Making zombies harder will surely help. I'm not sure if adding enterable buildings will actually help but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Temperature affects survival! [SA]
Skat3rat replied to Chaingunfighter's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
This is true. Would mean that making campfire could be useful besides just using it to cook food. Namalsk is the only map in DayZ where I've ever made a campfire to warm my character up. -
Like I said though, without having extra things to do then people will go right back to KoS. Why do you think that majority of DayZ players just go around kos'ing? Because once you have the essential items there isn't much else to do. Yeah you could sent up a camp, get a car and a chopper if you're lucky, but after that there isn't anything else to do.

Temperature affects survival! [SA]
Skat3rat replied to Chaingunfighter's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Oooh flooding would be really cool to see. Would mean that you couldn't drive certain places and possible not be able to loot certain towns. Like if electro and cherno got flooded that would be cool. I'm all for seasons too. -
Lol reminds me of a time some guy went around picking up bambis in his ural. Once he had enough people he drove us to cap galova except he drove us to the cliff next to the lighthouse. Seconds before he went into the ocean I jumped out of the ural. The rest of them poor bambis weren't lucky. One survived and as he was crawling up the beach the driver of the ural shot him. As DayZ's Sloth hero I couldn't let that man go. I popped him with my AK and avenged all those poor souls.

Becoming a zombie after you die has already been suggested a million times and turned down. The reason for the new character and everything is for the immersion. Maybe changing your name shouldn't be a must but restarting completely when you die in DayZ makes the game that much more fun. Tbh if I kept everything when I died then DayZ would just get boring quick. The joy of finding a gun you've been wanting for a long time or just a rare gun is an excitement I haven't felt in any other game.

Temperature affects survival! [SA]
Skat3rat replied to Chaingunfighter's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
More dynamic weather is something I've wanted to see in SA for a while. Stuff like hot days, cold days, hurricanes, storms, tornadoes, even a once in a blue moon meteor storm would be cool. Just random weather events would be cool to see and add some diversity to the game. -
Yeah I saw this video last night and I agree with him on the matter. Stand alone needs to have more stuff added to it. It can't be the same as the mod right now or else people will get bored very quickly and either leave, or go right back to KoS. Honestly I'm willing to wait several more months if we have to in order for the DayZ dev team to add extra things to the game. I'd like for them to add as much stuff as possible before they release the game. Like I've said many times before, I want SA to be released as much as the next guy but I don't want a terribly buggy and boring game released because the devs felt rushed to release the SA.

game is not hard in private hives

To each his own. While I'm not the biggest fan of donator loadouts, the server is still amazing. -
And now when ever zombie sees him, the majesticness of him just burns the zombies. He is literally a walking god in dayz.
-
Like others have said, I don't like the idea of a skill thing unless they did it just right. One thing that would be cool for the zombies is to have different types. Not like L4D2 but zombies that are stronger, weaker, slower, faster, larger, smaller, etc. than other zombies. Their traits may or may not be noticeable by looking at them. I think that going somewhere and not knowing what type of zombies you encounter could make it a little scarier. For example you run into electro to grab food and a zombie that is faster than the player starts chasing you. You have no choice but to shoot and end up attracting more zombies because of that. Out of nowhere one of the stronger zombies knock you off your feet and now your scrambling to get away.

game is not hard in private hives
Skat3rat replied to itamar (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That's strange that it won't let you onto public hives. However this is a good private hive to join http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/143390-ca-1-california-dayzchernarus-1771-regular3donchon-gmt-7-anti-hax-auto-refuel-donator-loadouts-active-admins-great-community/ I've been playing on there for a while and it gives a good survival challenge. It also has amazing admins who don't abuse powers. I highly recommend the server. -
Need some help from you guys to create *new* & *official* DAYZ t-shirts!

A sloth in a hero skin would be amazing. On a more serious note something cool imo would be a survivor standing in the middle of a highway. The clouds are dark and stormy with a little visible lightning out in the distance. Blood flows across the highway and stops in a large puddle at the survivor's feet. In the distance to the right there are many destroyed vehicles, tanks, and choppers. Some fires and smoke still blaze from one or two of the vehicles. Bodies are also scattered everywhere. Some bodies are still intact but most have limbs missing. To the left you can see the remains of a large city in the distance beyond some woods. Possible chernarous. The survivor himself is injured. His face is battle hardened however he has visible cuts, bruises, and burns across his body. His clothes are torn and blood stained and he has a bandage wrapped around his left arm. He is visibly well geared though. He has an M4A1 hanging from his right hand. An M9 in a pistol holster on his right thigh. A grenade attached to his jacket and a bandoleer holding stanag mags and other random items. A hatchet, crowbar, and other items can be seen in his backpack. On the top in the clouds there would be "DayZ" in greyish white color. On the bottom would be something like, "Pushing survival to the limits" -
Until further notice, you have won the internet for today.
-
He probably assumed that pretty much only new players would look up a thread on this. Therefor he was advertising himself to his largest group of customers. All dem bambis need those blood bags.
-
It's helpful knowledge but I don't think there needs to be a thread for it...
-
Yeah I know, but I meant it would be cool if the AH-6J was in DayZ.
-
A doge feature like the one in Battlefront 2 would be cool.
