The last thing you would want to do in DayZ is punish a certain play style and give advantages to another.
-
Had I not screwed up with the first pic, how would you of gone about busting it?
-
As I continue to put more thought into the KoS mentality I've thought about something. Now it is a video game but I think the concept applies to dayz too. In "The Last of Us" Joel talks about how if you want to survive, you have to abandon your morality. If you don't, you will die. Obviously this is a video game and when we kill someone in it, we are only killing a virtual character, but is it possible that to a degree, all of us who KoS, have abandoned any form of morality we could have in DayZ? Survival is our number one goal on this. I'm not talking about those who KoS out of boredom, but those who KoS for gear, or feel threatened and such.

Yeah, Rocket has talked about items capable of being broken if they get shot. For instance if someone has NVGs and you shoot their NVGs, you can brake them. That might make hostage situations more common if someone is trying to kill a player for their gear.

You can open your journal and it'll tell you. Best way to know though is if you have a survivor skin you have somewhere around 0-4999 humanity. If you have a hero skin you have 5000+ humanity. If you have a bandit skin you have negative humanity.

I agree that it doesn't look all that amazing but they are still working on it. It doesn't look terrible but there is still stuff they need to fix and add. We'll just have to wait and see how the game is when it is actually released. Judging it now is pointless because it is still in development.

Why attach a bayonet to a car when you can attach a mortar with a bayonet on it,to the car?
-
Rocket has already stated that there will be a lot more melee weapons in SA. Which I'm thankful for. I just hope that they improve the melee fighting system though because it's terrible in the mod right now. In Arma's defense though it wasn't designed for melee combat.
-
Why rush at someone with a sword when you could rush at him with a 50 lb mortar with a bayonet attached to it?
-
Yeah I wouldn't compare Arma and TF2 at all. Maybe BF3 but not in a million years TF2. Anyways, Hydro, check out this thread, http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/28160-guide-how-to-set-up-your-graphics-properly/ It might help.

Exactly, because otherwise we'll see all these people ranting that Rocket should of waited until the game was actually playable to release it and or there was more to do in the game. I don't think all these people whining and ranting about SA not being released, understand what Rocket's intentions are. I can almost 100% guarantee that if Rocket were to release the SA today, without all the things he still wants to add and polish, that all these people complaining about SA not being released would start complaining about all the game's faults within a week.

How to lower the ”shot on sight” mentality
Skat3rat replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
This is what I've been saying but I put a little more thought into it. It seems that DayZ players adapt pretty quickly to things. When this new update came out for the mod people either quit or adapted. Honestly the update was hard at first but now it isn't much of an issue to me anymore. I could see the same possible problem in SA. The first few months everyone could be struggling to survive and more willing to help each other. However after a while people will adapt and no longer need help. Most players will probably have done a lot of the things to do and resort back to KoS. This means then that we'll need something that always keeps surviving a challenge and give something players to do. Otherwise we'll fall right back into the mod's KoS out of boredom. -
That's what Rocket is working towards in SA. He knows, along with most of us, that the only way to lower the KoS mentality is to give a reason for players to work together. From what he's talked about, it's all the medicine, diseases, and injuries that he hopes will atleast help a little with KoS. Ultimately you can't stop KoS altogether. Although you may be able to stop a lot of it, there will always be the ones who don't stop to think even for a second before they shoot you.

Awww I was hoping I could keep the myth going. Oh well, good job busting it. Here is the original shadow pic I simply made it a thousand times smaller and "tried" to line it up properly. Probably should of zoomed into it myself to check for that error.
-
Sweet sweet vengeance. Nice job.

That'd make snipers think twice before shooting for sure. It'll be a lot easier to spot them if birds start flying away from the sniper's general area.
-
And that guy ^ would be the reason that isn't a good idea. Plus the possibility of dieing to glitches or something could make it even more frustrating. Especially when you don't have much time to play.
-
Hmm that song really fits. It would be cool if someone made a compilation of all the DayZ SA footage so far. I would myself but I don't want to get copy right strikes on my channel.
-
Dat beanie. I really liked this devblog it made me even more excited for SA, but there are still issues they need to get fixed.

Come over to CA 1. Link in my sig.

Btw this happened on this server --> http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/143390-ca-1-california-dayzchernarus-1771-regular3donchon-gmt-7-anti-hax-auto-refuel-donator-loadouts-active-admins-great-community/ So if anyone wants to hop on the server, feel free to. Like I said in my op, if anyone else has seen something like this figure, let me know.
-
Yeah I'm still a bit paranoid from it right now lol.
-
Yeah that's what I've heard. So we might be able to find individual bullets laying around or in boxes and such.

Temperature affects survival! [SA]
Skat3rat replied to Chaingunfighter's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'm not sure about the towels but your idea is a good one. To a degree it's already like this in the mod so I'm sure it could be done in the SA.
