You need a M4 handguard with rails on it.
-
Agreed. Ammo seems too common.
-
I think they should keep military weapons. However, I think that the military weapons should be vary rare once they add a lot more civilian weapons.
-
This has been suggested many times. Rocket has mentioned it might be possible but he wants to avoid skill tree systems and such. He wants players to have to use real world skills to survive in DayZ.
-
How come this solution hasn't been implemented yet? It's such a basic idea that works perfectly.
-
There are a lot of other games you can go play if you want an actual storyline. DayZ is a sandbox that let's you make your own decisions and make up your own story. It's not suppose to have a set story with missions and task you are told to do by npcs. You make your own objectives and your own choices.
-
Just be you, man. Don't try to be someone you're not. If your clan or others can't accept you for who you are, you don't need to put up with them.
-
Three ways. 1. Keep your stomach full with food and water. Don't move. Make sure all your wounds are clean, and you will begin the regenerate blood slowly. Saline bags can be used to fill almost all of your blood up. I recommend using those instead of bloodbags. Wrong. They are in affect.
-
Yes, if you receive the wrong type of blood you will go unconscious and or die.

How we all currently feel (lack of Zeds comment)

Hello everyone! So I've had some ideas for DayZ lately that I think would be very cool to see implemented. I'll be starting with my idea for medical system first and then over time I'll make new threads with my other suggestions. Now to begin, Rocket has stated that he wants SA to be a very difficult game. He doesn't want it to be easy and he wants players to always be struggling and fighting to survive. As great as SA is, I do believe that it could become stale like the mod if things aren't added to spice it up. For me personally, the mod started out hard, but after a few months, I had the game down and had little trouble surviving. SA is tough, and will become tougher, but I think it needs some stuff to make it more brutal. So skill systems, levels, perks, traits, talents, etc., have been suggested countless times on the forums, reddit, and other places. My ideas I would like to present would push aside skill tree based systems, and implement real world skills. So without further introduction, I present my medical system suggestion. Please read this warning below before reading my post As I begin this, I ask that you please bare with me in the fact that I have no artistic skills and threw all this together in Microsoft Paint. Just how poorly done these illustrations are can make a 5 year old look like a professional artist. If you can ignore these lousy "artwork" examples, I think you can easily understand where I'm going with all my ideas. Also, my knowledge of medical surgery is almost next to nothing. So I probably made some errors in my illustration of how some of these things would go about. Anyone with proper knowledge can correct me. Gun Shot Wounds Here we begin with a basic male survivor. Let us assume that our survivor got in a firefight. He came out victorious but he was hit in the abdomen area. The lousy red circle represents the gunshot wound. Now in SA atm, and the mod, if you got hit you would simply need to bandage. You might need to take some painkillers and morphine if your legs broke, but after that, you were ready to go and keep on surviving. I think that we can all agree that this is fairly unrealistic. In real life, in almost all cases, a person wouldn't be able to get shot and keep on going like nothing happened. The person would need to get the wound checked out by a doctor and most likely will need some life saving actions if he/she wants to survive. This is where my ideas come in. So when the person initially gets shot, they are most likely going to need pressure applied to the wound to stop bleeding. In DayZ, a player should need to apply pressure to the wound(with rags or something else) to stop the bleeding or greatly reduce the amount of blood loss. I think that the player who got hit should be able to apply pressure him/herself to the wound, but it won't be as effective as another player applying pressure to the wound for them. If the player gets hit in an artery, another player or two will be needed to help apply extra pressure to the wound. To keep the medical system somewhat simple, I believe there should only be a few main arteries and veins running through the body. It may be too complex for DayZ to include every single blood vessel. Following, applying pressure to the wound, a bandage will need to be wrapped around the wound. Once this is done, the basic medical procedures for a wound are complete. Again I ask you to forgive my pathetic artistic skills. Imagine this is a bandage wrapped around a rag to stop the bleeding. Now this is fairly simple, there is hardly much more to this than there already is in SA currently. However my ideas don't stop there. Stop the bleeding and getting it wrapped up should be just the initial procedures. Remember this game is suppose to be brutal and hard. After a few hours, or a day, the bleeding should of stopped completely and it is now time to clean or treat the wound. Now we don't want/need surgeon simulator 2013 to be implemented into DayZ. A much more simplified, almost point and click variation of surgeon simulator might be nicer. This is where a player's knowledge of the human body, and medical knowledge comes into play. We are not using a skill based system but actual knowledge possessed by the real player himself/herself. First off you will need another player to treat your wound. This is where player interaction kicks in. You are going to need to seek out and find someone who has knowledge of treating wounds and possibly performing surgery if you don't know how to do it yourself. The person treating the wounds and possibly performing the wounds will need a few things. First off, they will need surgical gloves or something similar to them. They will need to be completely clean and free of bacteria. If the gloves aren't clean you can use disinfectant spray to clean them. The operator will also need surgical tools, water, soap, rags, and extra bandages. From there, the player can begin the medical operation of checking the wound, cleaning it, and possibly removing the bullet. Each bullet wound in real life is different and needs different treatment. My medical knowledge isn't good enough to go into deep detail of how one would go about cleaning and treating the wound. This is something the operator would have to know for himself/herself. If the wound is treated poorly, or wrongly, there can be bad outcomes. Such as infection, sickness, severe pain, loss of a limb, or death. Yes, I did suggest the loss of a limb. I think that the ability to loose a limb should be in DayZ. Whether it be from a bullet ripping the limb off, a zombie ripping the limb off, or the limb having to be removed. Now I don't want derail this thread but I will go off topic for a moment. Brief Idea for Giving Value to Characters As of right now the only value to your character is his/her gear. Without going into the level of detail of another thread, I will give a few ideas for things to give value to your character. 1. Your character becoming immune to sicknesses after getting sick with them. Just like in real life, if you get sick with something, you will never get that exact sickness again. Your character should be able to become immune to something he/she has survived being sick with. 2. Your character gains stamina, and adapts to certain things. For instance, majority of us would get very tired if we ran/jogged around as much as our players do. Obviously this is a videogame and would it would be boring if we were forced to walk everywhere, but I think your character should gain stamina over time. As you gain more stamina you can run/job longer without getting tired as easily. Also, your character tends to need to eat and drink a lot. Now this is a glitch as of right now, but I think that over time, your character should adapt and not need to eat and drink as much. 3. Your character become stronger, faster, etc. Let's say you run around a lot and do a lot of sprinting. You eat certain foods that allow you to possibly get faster, and you just do a lot of running. Your character slowly becomes faster than average when he/she jogs or sprints. Or let's say your character constantly holds heavy gear and lifts stuff. Maybe he could even work out if something simple like the ability to do push ups was added. Either way your character starts to get stronger. 4. Other basic things like cleaning guns(when that gets implemented), your player could do faster over time. Surgery Now let us use another example of a gun shot wound. Let's assume our survivor has been shot in the leg. The examination by someone has been done and the leg must have surgery done to it. As the surgery is being done, the character will be in great pain and will require another player to keep him/her down. Players can find anesthesia that would allow for the player to go unconscious for a period of time. Now surgery should be quite difficult, but not complex to the level of real surgery. When the surgeon beings the surgery, the surgery should enter into a screen that is much like how the book screen. The player would still have visuals of some of his/her surroundings, but most of the screen would be taken up by a 2D model of the body part having surgery done to it. The hotbor should be replaced with the tools in the surgical kit. The surgeon will need to switch between the tools he/she is using on the patient. This is suppose to be the lower right thigh. You can see some of your surroundings as if you were reading a book but most of your screen is taken up by the leg. So my knowledge of surgery is very limited so if I make a mistake please forgive me. Anyone who has greater knowledge in medical and surgery stuff can correct me. As I said earlier, we don't want a UBEr realistic surgery procedure. This is only DayZ, not Surgeon Simulator. So now the surgeon must first determine the amount of damage done by the bullet. This could be a few ways. This is a zombie apocalypse so you obviously won't have the technology that proper surgical procedures use. So you'll need to use your hand or a surgical tool to inspect the damage. The surgeon would have to use real world skills to determine the damage. In this case the surgeon decides that the leg needs operation and the bullet to be removed. He must first cut open the skin. After the surgeon has opened the skin and move tissue, he/she sees that the bullet is stuck in the thigh bone. Red= Blood Pink= Tissue White= Bone Yellow= Bullet In order for the bone to heal properly, the surgeon must remove the bullet. Using a surgical tool the surgeon removes it. From there, any other necessary procedures are done and then the wound is stitched up. Stiching up the wound would be simple enough. You have to do enough stitches though so that the stitching doesn't come undone. Finally a splint is given to the survivor to help walk. To keep things playable. I believe it should only take a day-week for a bone to heal completely. Now that procedure was fairly simple. Depending on where the player gets hit, the surgery could be much, much more complicated. Limb Removal Now limb removal is something that is up to debate on whether or not it should be in DayZ. This is a video game and loosing a limb may be too far. However I'd like to hear your opinion on it. In the event of needing to have a limb removed, the operator would need to use a saw to cut off the limb. Instead of explaining how the limb removing would go, this video shows how it would need to be done. Remember we are in a zombie apocalypse and don't have the luxury of modern technology to remove limbs. Conclusion So all this is just an idea I threw together. If it would even work, or is a good idea is up to you all and the DayZ devs. I know the drawings were terribly bad but I hope you can forgive me for that. Please leave any feedback you have. Positive or negative.

It may be too in depth. I think any form of surgery should be hard though. If we are going to avoid skill based systems like Rocket said, then that means any form of surgery would require atleast some real world surgery knowledge. Well this is where books could be important. As of right now they are just a little something you can have to pass time. If they were to add books teaching surgery, that could be very important. Then you could have legit medics. That is something that would come in very handy. Imagine when being held up or taken hostage, your knowledge of surgery and fixing people up could be what saves your character's life and possibly even gets you some extra goodies.

I've had this happen to me three times. It SUCKS.

I love you btw, squiggs.

Awesome. I used your app for the mod all the time. I still have it installed on my ipod. I'll install the update now.

I suggest posting in this thread, -> http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/154460-so-kos-official-sa-kos-discussion-topic/ There are a lot of threads being posted about KoS and it's best if there is just one thread devoted to it.

...       Have you ever, I don't know, thought maybe reporting them would be better than abusing them?
-
Lol, the ability for items to get damaged was added for realism and to "help" lower KoS. This isn't COD. If you shot someone's backpack in real life, that backpack is going to get damaged.

Rocket has planned for radios to be a lot like what you've suggested. We'll be able to switch to different channels and use them to communicate with anyone else on the server with a radio. The radio will have a certain amount of distance it can pick up feed. We will be able to find headsets to use with it. We can leave it on the ground with the volume up so people walking by could hear what is being played out the radio. Or we could turn the volume off and keep the mic on so we can hear what is going on where we leave it. There's some extra features for the radio also that I can't remember off the top of my head.

There is no way to make a second character. You have one character that is linked to your steam account and the public hive. However, like Liam said, you can play on a private hive and have a separate character from the one you use on public hives. So you could play on public hives and allow your friend to have his own character on a private hive.

You're proud of abusing glitches? God, I hope you get shot a few times once they fix the glitch.

Anyone else seeing WAY more Z's all of the sudden?

I noticed that. Seems like more zombies are slowly being added. Although I can't say that for a fact. -
[Suggestion] Blood test kit part of the first aidl kit
Skat3rat replied to roadlesstraveled's topic in General Discussion
Actually I think something that would be cool is to have different type of medkits. Some being civilian type ones, others being doctors, and then soldiers' medkits. That way it could vary things up and some might have blood testing kits. -

[Suggestion] Blood test kit part of the first aidl kit
Skat3rat replied to roadlesstraveled's topic in General Discussion
I like the challenge of having to find the blood testing kit. The only problem I have is that each time I've tested my blood, I've had O+. Does anyone know if this is just a huge confidence or if each player is tied to one blood type no matter what character he/she is.
