Hi just got this game, but it won't play

Yep, like Rage said, if you really did hack you're screwed. Hopefully this will teach you a lesson.
  2. I actually hope they don't. I enjoy the real time aspect of DayZ.

While adding more features might stop those who KoS out of boredom, it won't stop or lower the amount of people who KoS for other reasons.

Mehh I'm not sure about that. I doubt having a concealed weapon will help much, if at all. Worst part could be if you do start taking fire then those few seconds that it take to take out your weapon could get you killed. I see where you're trying to go with this idea but I don't think it's practical.

What's this jungle of Dayz mods?

It's your choice as to whether or not you try them out. Origins is kind of fun but I mostly prefer vanilla DayZ. A lot of people enjoy these mods of DayZ though. You could try looking up some videos on youtube of these mods and seeing if any of them look interesting to you.

    Gruesome Dead Bodies and Crows

I'm actually surprised I haven't seen this idea before. Maybe someone already has suggested it but this is a really cool idea.
  7. Good read. I experienced this issue far too much on public hives. Worst was the bandits who could combat log if they started getting shot at. Whether these Hill snipers killed people to feel powerful, better than others, practice their aim, for the lols, because they were bored, or because of another reason, the one thing is though, that it made looting in these cities more fun and scary. I couldn't just run around like a derptard happily looting. I had to be careful and sneaky and honestly it made it fun. I think most players have abandoned any form of morality in DayZ. Probably because it's just KoS. That is what DayZ have evolved into and the only way to stop most of this KoS, is to make players feel guilty about killing another player. The problem is this is all pixels and you're only ending a virtual characters life. Yeah all that work the person put into their gear and character is gone, and you may feel bad for a little while, but you know that they simply have to respawn and go loot all over again. I mean tbh, I think DayZ would get boring after a while if I never died. I enjoy looting and finding stuff. Like I said though, if we want to stop most of the KoS, we have to find a way for players to feel bad about killing. Until that happens, KoS will always be a problem. Whether it be hill snipers, or guys up north who KoS.

You can't tell me that wouldn't feel even some form of guilt if you killed someone irl even if there was not consequences to our actions. This is what I mean. If we want to stop KoS drastically then there will have to be some means of a person actually feeling bad about killing someone. The problem is this is just a video game, and all you're doing is killing pixels. There are a lot of good ideas that could possibly stop someone from shooting another player, like having limited ammo, but ultimately you would need some way to make a player feel bad about killing. I'm just not sure if you could do that in a video game.

Birds fly off with loud noises

Nah you can't. Trust me I've tried many times.

By morality, I meant something that will make players feel bad about killing others. Not something like we have right now in the mod.
  11. Skat3rat

what server do you play on?

gg last night Delta. You put up a good fight for someone with just a revolver.

I've answered in red your statements. However I think if we truly want to stop KoS we are going to need some form of morality introduced into DayZ. Something that will make players actually feel bad about shooting someone. Not like the morality system we have in the mod.

    Last night on Origins

I tried out origins for the third time last night and here is how my story goes. I spawn at some city that is said to have 90% pvp. I start running across a field when I see another player out in the distance. I check a barn for some loot really fast and then head out to see if the other survivor wants to team up. When I get to him he isn't moving. I figure he must of gone afk and right when I'm about to leave, he falls onto his back and starts freaking out like he's having a seizure. Well considering this is only my third time playing origins, and that I haven't played in a few months, I thought he must of been an npc. So I pop him in the head only to realize it was actually a player. I felt slightly bad but considering he was a fresh spawn and I was clueless as to what happened, I let it go. However it game me a bandit skin because of it. As I head deeper into the city I see some large buildings in the distance beyond some woods so I decide to head there. Upon arriving I check a grocery store and then decide to go over to the school to check for a better weapon. As I get there a player calls out over direct chat saying, "Hello." I respond back asking if he's friendly. He says yes and tells me to meet him in the school. He was in the building next to it and as he's running over, asks me if his stripper friend is sexy... Once he gets to the school I tell him to meet me on the balcony. Him and his friend run up. With makarovs pointed at me, they tell me, "Oh... yeah dude you're a bandit." During the last seconds of my life I saw the flash of the makarov. As I fall back to the ground with the last seconds of a functioning brain, I think to myself, "Why do I even play this mod." As my cracked open heads lands on the concrete, the man puts one last round in between my eyes. Then, complete black...
  14. Sorry to hear that. If at all possible you could try getting on sometime around 3-9 pm Est. I'm not sure what time that would be for you but I'm sure you could find something on the interwebs that could tell you. If you are unable to though, I wish you best of luck on finding another community.

The thing is though, that in a game like dayz, "gamey" features probably wouldn't work. And on the topic of humanity, it is completely broken for the most part in the mod. Unless you actually get hit first, if you kill another survivor or hero in self defense, you still loose humanity because the system doesn't recognize it. If by some extreme mistake that you accidentally friendly fire on a teammate or friend, you loose humanity because the system doesn't recognize it. The scenarios continue to go on. There was something some guy posted on the forums a while back that went something like, "We don't need the humanity system in SA, because you, yourself, know whether you are good or bad. You don't need something to tell you if you're good." Rocket even agreed with that post too. If we were to have something visual that could tell players by first look who they might be, I think Private Evan's idea would be perfect.

    Temperature affects survival! [SA]

He doesn't try to copy him. KoS just doesn't speak the best English. Cut him some slack. @MasterShak3, I could of sworn there was already talk about something like that being in the SA. I could be wrong though.
  17. I was running around green mountain about 20 minutes ago, on my way to meet friends at Balota when I saw a player. I chased him for a little while but only would see him for a few seconds. After chasing him for a little while I noticed that it didn't exactly look like a player. I managed to get a few screen shots but these two were the best. I'm thinking it might be an admin screwing with me but I don't know if admins can actually do this. Has anyone else seen figures like this?

    Playing The DayZ Mod

You still can but I'm unable to walk you through on how. Unless you can not, I would suggest buying it on steam.
  19. This one --> http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/143390-ca-1-california-dayzchernarus-1771-regular3donchon-gmt-7-anti-hax-auto-refuel-donator-loadouts-active-admins-great-community/ I've been playing on it for a while and it's one of the best I've ever played on. There will surely be players on there who will be willing to team up with you and survival in the world of DayZ. Hope to see you on there, man!
  20. Yeah, man, I still remember my first night in DayZ. I had no clue where I was. My friend and I walked slowly with our flashlights, trying to avoid zombies and scared out of our minds.
  21. I love the night time and wish the server I played on always had it. However for some reason though I still have issues seeing at night without nvgs in this update. I can see the sky clearly but generally everything is still very dark for me to the point where I can only make out a few objects.
