    DayZ Standalone Discussion

Melee weapons should be extremely common. Every player should have some form of melee weapon whether it be a machete, a baseball bat, a hatchet, etc. There are countless things you could use in real life as melee weapons so SA should have melee weapons in most places. Pistols should be the most common fire arm. Not too common that you find them everywhere, but common enough that most players you encounter will have one. Some ammo should be available but not more than a mag or two if even that much. Hopefully the pistols will actually be powerful too. They are far too weak in the mod. Basic rifles like hunting rifles and shot guns like double barrol should be sorta rare. Maybe 1 out of ever 3 players has one. Ammo should be about equivalent to pistols. Maybe a mag or two at mag for guns like the mosin and several pellets for shot guns. Military weapons rarity should vary on the weapon itself. For instance an AK 74 would be more common than a machine gun like the M60. Ammo for them should vary too. Maybe you find a few bullets laying around for them or you find a weapons cache in an abandoned police station that is chock full of ammo and mags.

Indeed that would be one problem with it but I think the idea might be one of the better ones out there. Tbh though I'm not sure what other ideas there could be that you would know just by looking that a person is a bandit. I've never met a murder in real life, at least I hope I haven't, but it does seem entirely possible that even serial killers can maintain sanity and act completely normal. Atleast from stories I've read and heard. I'm no expert on the matter so I really can't say for sure. I think the only other way to know if someone is a bandit is by talking to them. Many players I've run into that I've talked over direct chat to, I could tell for the most part if they were friendly or not. Their tone and how they act can generally give away their intentions.

I think blood on the hands would probably be the best idea. Things like facial expressions or someone's idea of a bandit laughing randomly and acting a little insane is a game breaker to me. Blood on the hands would mean obviously that the guy had checked a dead player's body. If you came across someone with bloody hands it would give a good signal that he/she may be a bandit or it could be another survivor who just checked a dead corpse they came across or killed someone that shot at him/her. It would then be the player's choice to decide whether or not they think that the player is a bandit or survivor.

I'm not saying people should be made to feel bad. I'm saying that imo if Rocket wants to lower KoS, he's going to have to find a way that will somehow cause players to feel bad. I'll be honest, I don't feel bad anymore when I kill someone in DayZ. Maybe one or two guys I feel bad about from time to time, but the regular player I come across and end up shooting, I generally just move on like nothing happened. What I'm hoping though is that in SA, what ever it may be, there will be something that will cause player's to actually feel guilt if they murder someone in cold blood. I don't mean that Rocket MAKE players feel bad, but that it will cause players to feel guilty. I'm not really sure what Rocket could do because I don't even know. It's all pixels and no matter what the devs do to make players work together, it's not going to stop players from just KoS'ing if they are capable of doing it unless they can brake the barrier of pixels. I'm not sure if I made myself clear but I tried to. That is my two cents on the matter with KoS anyways.
  5. As much as tutorials might ruin it for some people, it might be helpful for others. I don't really remember watching tutorials when I began except the basics like what the icons on the left meant, what broken legs and shock were, and how you fixed broken legs. In SA I don't plan on watching tutorials. However I understand that there might be those who need to. Whether it be that they're too impatient to figure things out on their own, or they genuinely need the help of others to figure things out.

Mayke the world a 'living world".

Umm yeah I agree with everyone else. I wouldn't even play SA if this feature was implemented. I don't like the idea of sharing a char with others and loosing mine. I'm not even sure where you're fully trying to go with this, OP.
  7. Yeah it would be awesome to see these in SA.

    My First DayZ Kill.

Outside of a few kills, I don't remember 99% of my kills. Something about my first one was special though. Probably because I tried to play as a Hero back then.
  9. Lol I occasionally get hate from people ingame when I kill them and they see the 3 in my name. Seriously though, I was having issues with my account working, it was saying that it wasn't activated despite the fact that I had done the email verification thing. So I just made this new account, on a new email.

Try using this thread --> http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/28160-guide-how-to-set-up-your-graphics-properly/ It's meant to help with FPS but maybe you can find the issue with the blurry textures.

    My First DayZ Kill.

Nice story. I still remember my first kill. I had only been playing DayZ a few days and was a complete bambi. A makarov was actually of value to me at that time lol. So there I was looting some barn near the coast when I hear running outside. I noticed it didn't sound like a zombie running and I instantly went prone on the second floor, hoping the person wouldn't come to me. To her unfortunate she did indeed run to where I was. She only had a crowbar but at that time I had no clue how terrible it was. Out of complete fear I started firing my dinky little makarov away. She fell off the floor, breaking their legs. She took cover behind some boxes and I popped a few final shots at her head. As I stared at her dead body, scared out of my mind, I was sure that the wrath of Rocket would come down upon me for killing this person. I don't know if that person was friendly or not. I was too scared to ask. After looting her body I ran upstairs again and took cover behind some hay. I heard some car drive up and someone fire a few AR shots. I was convinced that my end was near. After a few seconds the car drove away. I must of hid behind that hay for 10-20 minutes before I emerged and continued on my journey.

    One life per day idea.

Been suggested many times but there's a lot of reasons it wouldn't work. I know people who only are able to play a few times a week and I can't imagine how annoying it would be for them to get killed and completely loose all their free time to play DayZ. Also glitches and bugs killing players would be extremely annoying too.
  13. When I made my account I use to skateboard. My original account was Skaterat but I was having issues with it and ended up making a new account and replacing the E with a 3.

Yeah, no offense but blocking someone from playing on a server or from playing for a few hours is a very bad idea. I stated this back in one of my post and imo the only way we could drastically stop KoS is if there was some way to make players feel bad about killing someone. In real life any sane person would feel at least some form of guilt if they killed a person. The problem in DayZ is that it's all pixels. If the DayZ dev can find a way to break the barrier of pixels and find a way that could actually make players feel guilty, then I think that would lower KoS.

As of right now, how well does SA run? I remember a while back you said you had to change a ton of settings on Arma 2 for your DayZ to run good. I know SA is still getting worked on but I'm just wondering if I'll be able to run SA better than the mod.

Could post process effect be causing it?
  17. Only if I get what KoS calls, "Jiggy" time with these fine women.

    Cars explode too easy

I've blown up a car with one shot from my PDW once. Coolest kill ever.
  20. They've fixed a lot of duping glitches but not all of the. I'm actually surprised you found no ammo for that M14. Despite loot being more rare in this update I still find ammo fairly easily. If you really want to avoid dupers, try finding a well admined private hive that has a rule against duping. I have to agree with Cap'n, on how easy it is to snipe though. You give someone a M24, teach them how to zero the gun, and they shouldn't have a problem hitting non moving targets at all. Moving targets are kind of hard to hit but still very easy. I do hope they add wind or something to DayZ SA. I love sniping and love how mods like ACE, actually make sniping difficult. If sniping was as hard as it is in ACE, I bet a lot of people would quit sniping.
  21. I would be quick to drop anyone wearing nazi gear in SA :P
  22. Wow this is amazing man. I'll have to give this a try when it's done.
