The way I hope it will turn out is that zeds will become a real danger factor if they increase in numbers and actually have some sort of ai in place... I'm hoping even to a point where it's incredibly hard / nigh impossible to lone wolf through the military spawns or the bigger cities unless you're extremely careful and know what you're doing. And add some zed spawns inside buildings, namely the barracks... if that can be achieved there's no need for artificial solutions to server hopping; it would simply be to dangerous to even attempt it. But I suppose clans would still figure out a way to clear the barracks succesfully, loot it and hop to the next server and repeat, so ultimately I'm hoping for server tied characters.

Simple way to vastly improve NOTES in game
[email protected] replied to Bororm's topic in General Discussion
It would also be kind of neat if you could pin them on doors/walls or use them to label bloodbags. Also make it so that the inspect option shows the first few sentences of the note (if that's even possible). -
So whats gonna happen with the night cycle?
[email protected] replied to Seanayy's topic in General Discussion
So many people bring up this argument, but really that's only true if everyone was playing 24/7... maybe taking 6-8 hr breaks to sleep. And I find it more immersion breaking that once the sun goes down everyone in the server leaves to find daylight again, leaving me alone in the world with the occasional server hopper stopping by for 15 seconds. -
Animations for inventory actions!
[email protected] replied to Twixxer's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'm having my fingers crossed you'll be able to bury backpacks, making them persistents like tents were in the mod and a bit harder to spot. -
How about a change in Day/nigth cycle ?
[email protected] replied to vitorsa's topic in General Discussion
I would like to see a shorter day and night cycle (maybe 5hr day/ 5hr night) and have every server time synced so people can't just avoid night by going to a day server (or even worse 24/7 day servers). I'm well aware that this'll probably never happen though. -
Let's buy the dayz SA, go to cherno to kill a noob for his food, head to the NWAF, grab an m4 and wait for all of this to blow over!

Call in a supply drop from Green Mountain Radio.
[email protected] replied to knawx's topic in General Discussion
I like the idea of being able to repair it, but call in a supply drop? Who would you call? And why would they bother wasting precious jet fuel and the goods they're dropping? What I'd rather see is that once it's repaired the person in control can either broadcast live or record a message that will loop through and people with radios can then tune in. Would be better if there were multiple locations people could broadcast from; imagine communities erupting around these locations, because they broadcasted in new survivors; or bandits using it to lay a trap; or Joe Bob advertising his mod shop. Also why stop there? What about making those sporadic streetlights less sporadic and off by default and have players be able to repair generators and restore a bit of light in the darkness. Perhaps make it so that a few of the smaller villages can be completely provided with power (with a hefty upkeep price) stopping zombies from spawning within the village's borders, but attracting more zeds from outside (and most likely bandits when they see the beacon of light). This will presumably work better if characters would be tied to servers (which'll help with server community building in itself), which is something I hope to see happening if/when we get to see 100+ player servers. -
curious how the new Zombie aggro system is designed to work for fresh spawns ?
[email protected] replied to Siberian (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
The fact they're relatively hard to shake is getting my hopes up that when they come in numbers, roam around a little and respond to gunshots like kids to the icecream van jingle (don't go for a drive kids, no matter how much free icecream with special 'topping' he offers) cities might actually become places preferably avoided rather than shooting galleries for the geared & bored. -
Answer for $30 price. (In depth talk)
[email protected] replied to Aldy (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I know right....'wah wah 30 minutes unconscious'... bitch please that was the minimum waiting time to even join a server back then. -
Database cleanup [2012-07-03]
[email protected] replied to Ander (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Announcements & Info
That was pretty much opening and closing your door once every week. I think the saving option should just count as a refresh and it would be nice if tents persisted after dead if refreshed regularly... if not lets have an IDOC massacre ;) (kudos to people who get that) -
Everyone in the server got killed instantly
[email protected] replied to iPlumbum's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I can confirm this, I also lost quite some good stuff, but this isn't the way he was supposed to go... I've survived so many situations where the odds were against me. I want to be shot or munched on... not hacked to death :( http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=25106 -
What I think that means is that some zombies see better than others, so zombie A might not spot you at 50m, but zombie B (in the exact same situation) may come running for you at 50m. Making things less predictable.

Don't know if this has been suggested but how about making barbed wire more effective (e.g. it actually keeps zombies out, or kills them when they cross it) and have it only last for 1 hour or something before it gets broken down. Resolves the griefing issue, don't have to decrease the spawn rate and they will be actually functional (both for bunkering yourself in against other players and zombies). Or have indeed some wire cutter tool that's pretty common and gets rid of the wire fence permanently (as in the wire doesn't come back when the server restarts; last night I had to cut through 5(!?!?) wires before I could enter the barracks on NW AF).

Binding a player to one server?
[email protected] replied to heminized's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think it's a great idea, now with vehicles spawning and somewhat working tents a lot of people have decided upon a home server anyway. The only two points I have to enhance this system is: Higher server capacity, which looking at the new patch notes isn't far off and some sort of queue system so you don't have to spam enter. -
This is the best PVP game ever created

Maybe he was referring to some of the alt-f4 magic ;) -
game has become silly..
[email protected] replied to goodknight's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
*directs OP to link in signature* You're doing it wrong, I crossed the entirety Berezino today without a single zombie aggro and on top of that I had a complete stranger giving me a blood transfusion. -
I'm a bit disappointed by the bbq, I expected an open fire with a dead cow next to it ;) But I get your sentiments, my parents were showing me their pics of their trip the other day and all I could think was "That would be a good spot for a ghillie suit wearing sniper".

Why no starting weapon incentivizes killing.
[email protected] replied to CrimsonOmen's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Guns don't kill people, people do. The problem always with these type of games is that it's usually filled with a ton of fucktard griefers and trolls with a monkey sphere of 1 (themselves). They think they have fun by killing unarmed people or newly spawned so they can masturbate over their "t3aRz" and feed their misguided egos, because quite frankly they'd probably fail in any other skill based shooter where the odds are even. This mod is portrayed to be about immersion and creating your own stories... if those stories are camping with your crappy cz550 or DMR on a hilltop near Cherno or Elektro, fine by me. I'm not the one missing out on the more elaborate situations where there's a couple of groups fighting over resources or loot hotspots, using military style tactics and communication to gain the upper hand over the opposition. Or this one time where our heavily armed group was driving a bus through Cherno, lending a helping hand to less fortunate (random) survivors. We drove them towards looting spots to help them gear up and better their chances of survival and dropping them off on more quiet towns towards the northwest. Eventually another organized group got word of this bus and they set up an ambush, what ensued was this awesome battle that lasted maybe an hour and it included panic, tragedy and some heartfelt emotions not to mention an awesome exploding bus. Probably my best time in DayZ. What I'm trying to say is that with a slight bit of imagination and roleplay you can make this game so much more interesting and exciting. So whenever the trolls and griefers start hacking their hatchet at my unarmed just-spawned avatar I just facepalm and smile, knowing they probably will never delve into more complicated and fun scenarios as described above and respawn. -

That's indeed ArmA 2's beta patch, DayZ is still in it's alpha phase (aka lets add and test all sorts of crazy features and test which ones work and which ones won't, so in the end those who do work can get locked and polished in beta). -

Near impossible for new players now
[email protected] replied to Hze's topic in New Player Discussion
Haven't played Darkfall, but the somewhat similar (in terms of harshness, full loot and open PvP) Ultima Online. As for the OP, you're not really trying... I spent a couple of hours today with the new patch and aside from the broken spawn rates of foods and such I didn't experience much problems sneaking around... and when I did attract zombies I could shake them off. I was even trapped without a gun inside the office building in Elektro, but managed to lure the zombies away by throwing empty whisky bottles on the streets outside, giving me the time to continue searching the building for weapons. Only found a crossbow with one bolt, but that was enough to make my way to the fire station and pick up a shotgun there... without even using it (except to help an unarmed survivor from his zombie followers) I made it towards the northern fire station where I picked up a DMR and AK to start my trek towards Stary Sobor and eventually the northern airfield, but couldn't continue because the lack of food... (should've checked zombie corpses, but that's hindsight).
