  1. What if they made the logout timer 3 minutes instead of 30sec. and having a sleeping bag reduces it to 1 minute? Not the most realistic approach to sleeping bags, but atleast its a good reason to carry one around. Also putting your character into a faster 'resting' stage to combat infections, disease and sickness at an increased rate (but slow enough that you'd wish you would've picked up a book).
  2. Is that a new animation to harrass female characters? Or just one of your ambigious formulations ;)
  3. I think the books are fine the way they are, they are useful; you can read them. I wouldn't mind being able to put them in your hands and have a reading animation when you're reading it. I also wouldn't protest if you could move the window of the book around so it doesn't obscure your entire view. Edit: also things like cookbooks, operating manuals etc. should be added to provide useful information rather than just a nice book to read.
  4. I almost bit and then I realized you meant hacked to death with an axe.

    KSK/Saiga 12

KSK... SKS... I would get freakin' confused man I'm getting old! In all seriousness though, I don't see that much of a difference from a 'regular' AK47, except this looks more military grade (edit: maybe more expensive is a better phrasing). I could be completely wrong though, I'm by no means a gun expert. Either way finding something like this once in a while in Chernarus wouldn't hurt, I'm all for it.
  6. I would need an offering of $10.000 before you can be enlightened son!
  7. Specially to the chickens, they take KoS to a whole 'nother level.
  8. Playing a game of chicken with a helicopter and we're both pussies...in the same direction.
  9. Fuck, then I need a shitload of posts to conquer the world! On topic: Play with friends, find a server with a community, adapt with it? Someone once said a picture is worth a thousand words, well to me a story is worth a thousand deaths. Do with that what you like.
  10. Beans from orlok, they're on it ;) Unless you split the cash 50/50 with said physician :) Nah you're right, it's hard to get solid evidence that would hold up in court, but still I think some quasi charity organizations will jump on it if only for the publicity. They might loose and be willing to take the losses, but can Bohemia afford to fight off those cases? I'm not sure how American law works(if that would even apply) regarding to reinstating lost legal fees after winning a case. Lawsuits aside the media will probably jump on it and the same organizations would lobby for a shelf ban and I'm sure it would pass in some countries.
  11. I understand it's a high cost - low gain situation as I pointed out in my OP, therefore making no illusions it will ever make it into the game. I was more interested in emotional response and how a run-of-the-mill KOS'ers view on it is, will he even be remotely put off by murdering a child in a videogame? Instead it sidetracked a bit into a legal debate, which I don't mind that much but not what I had in mind when I posted this. You're right teenagers might be a better first step going down this road and I completely agree on the last line; their resources are better spent elsewhere atm.

    My crotch is itchy !

Just ride it out and make a note not to visit that particular zombie prostitute again.
  13. There is something to say for the fact that it's not being graphically shown (even though your own interpretation might be much more horrid than anyone else could depict in pixels or film) and that you as a reader are not actively performing the said acts, you're merely witnessing them. Also books are a much more accepted medium than videogames. Edit: whoops should've added that to my last post :s
  14. I agree with you on all points except the panning away, that would take away the conscequence of the 'artificial' moral decision; something terrible to watch. But I definately agree that they should add depth to the game and not just be there for the sake of being there (or to spur controversy).
  15. I played TLOU, but I didn't die so never saw any of the brutal things you mentioned. And can you kill Anakin in The phantom menace... that alone might be worth it, no matter the shittyness of the game. edit: just saw the vid you linked... watched about two minutes, but I didn't find it that brutal... if they would've gone ahead and chew off her head pretty graphically it would most likely have gotten some more attention. Also these are NPC - PC innteractions and not between two human beings... if that would make any difference on the matter.
  16. Don't worry I've got the emotional relapse of it never happening covered :)
  17. ^ what this guy said... and I agree lay off the shrooms! A post apocalyptic world isn't a good environment to use those.
  18. How many people would actually do that? I recall the freaking outrage on the GTA V torture scene where people skipped it or couldn't continue. Those who played through it and enjoyed it need to seek help, those who played through it and felt a bit sick afterwards gained an experience that could change them into an outspoken advocate against torture practices.
  19. Yes that's probably true, but lets disregard the corrupt justice system, because we both know that if a lawsuit were to happen against such a feature it would be done by organizations looking for publicity themselves to stroke their high horse and gain some standing in their community and politicians to boost their career. It would not be done to Save the Children... because quite frankly, I don't think a game with this feature should even be played by children.
  20. I always look at it this way... one interesting unforgetable story that came from player interaction is worth the x-amount of getting shot in the face. It's too bad that most of the players I encounter have the creativity of a potato, but still those moments are worth it in my opinion. But being cautious in your approach is always a good idea, because sadly I believe my signature is truth.
  21. You'd be surprised how many parents shut up their kids by waving their creditcard around. That being said, I've always tried to search for community servers with a website/forum and right now I'm browsing around if I can find a good RP community, I imagine those will usually have mature admins, not too mention better/more player interaction.
  22. Implement a queue system for servers and have your character bound to the server (perhaps only do this if and when they reach the goal of 150ppl servers). Ghosting & loothopping solved. Increase the 30 sec. logout timer to maybe 2 minutes with the option to watch and cancel and combat logging is a thing of the past too. Don't give me the 'nowhere is safe in chernarus' argument, I've hidden a bus in the mod that was still there the next day and yes that was a pretty populated server.

    Thank You!

Leeroy Jenkins, a WoW player whom ran into some mobs shouting "Leeeeerroooyyy" whilst the guildmaster was still explaining the coarse of action. It was recorded by someone and the vid became quite popular and the recklessly barging into dangerous situations whilst shouting "leeeroy" kinda stuck even beyond WoW.

    Thank You!

Related to THE mr Jenkins? If you are, remind me to never join your group :P I'm also fast approaching the 'old' gamer ettiquette (30 right now) and loving the fresh breath DayZ has brought into gaming land. I've played the mod for a couple of months and really enjoyed the experience, reminded me of Ultima Online in some ways, but quit quite fast because of all the bug deaths... Seriously I see people complaining left and right on randomly dying and while I do appreciate the endevour of pointing it out, it's still nowhere near as bad as the mod (killed by fences, getting out of a car and dropping 4ft, helicopter desync, staring at a rock in the wrong way... and I'm probably forgetting a few). Anyway keep on enjoying the ride!
  25. I'd probably search for some sleeping pills and pull a bag over my head. I can barely stand humanity as is, let alone how bad it would degrade in an apocalyptic situation.
