If I'm desperate for supplies I may kill another survivor otherwise I try to avoid all contact. When I stumble across another player whilst looting a building I will generally open fire. I don't know what's going through his mind and my survival is paramount. If some survivor walks by without seeing me I will generally let them pass.
This is exactly why I like it so much. It's not so much that I'm mousing over their character to get a name but just mousing over to focus on their face/general characteristics that I can recognise. Great suggestions!
I'd absolutely love a player-controlled town where trade can take place but conversely I would really dislike anything artificial to make it happen. The ability to search players so you could have check-points on the outskirts sounds good but anything more would feel too "gamey".
- Buy to play: any kind of F2P store would kill the mood of the game for a lot of people. I think making it Arma DLC will make DayZ too expensive. Stand alone which uses the Arma engine sounds best. - It needs the polish of studio development but ultimately needs to be directed by a gamer who understands why people enjoy this mod. Dota 2 is a good example of how this can work really well.
