How important is NAT Negotiation to server hosters?

I think port-forwarding is a non-issue for most hosters, since they host their server co-located or rent them at a company that has their servers co-located and co-location comes with a small public network (usually /29). But... this is the situation here in the Netherlands and probably also in the US, but what about other parts of the world where they are running out of IPv4 address-space? I could imagine a co-location provider in Asia would only provide a /30 network which pretty much forces you to use NAT if you have more then one servers... Imho: - NAT negotiation is no issue at this moment since there are still plenty of IPv4 addresses availible and co-locators are not forced by datacenters to use one public IP. - In the future, NAT negotiation will be out of the question since we will have plenty of IPv6 space. So, if this whole NAT negotiation takes too much effort: forget about it. :) -
Hi, At MG we host a lot of Left 4 Dead servers and have been hosting a few public DayZ servers but we took them offline due mass cheating. We are running a superfast private hive already for 2,5 months successfully with a whitelist feature but the server needs more people, so join! IP: 213.247.35.36 Port: 2306 In the multiplayer lobby, search for "MGFTW" and you will find it. The server runs on "Mercanary" mode, which is the most difficult setting there is! Hi, We have been running our private server now for a couple of months with success, it was a locked server where only registered members on the MG forums could join, the password could be found there. Unfortunately tonight, after 1,5 months we had our first hacker that killed everyone etc. We have installed a new whitelist mechanism that only allows specific GUIDs on the server and we whitelisted all our friends and known clans such as KURADI, KOD, DODGEMENT and PFTW which played for months without any issues! We do not accept any unknown individuals anymore, only people that are invited by the clans above and new clans! (3+ members) The policy is that we will wipe an entire clan if one member is caught cheating. (and he will be reported at the community banlist ofcourse) Clans: if you need a home, please register at http://mgftw.com/forum.php and you will get hooked up. Guys please, don't feed the troll. This whole discussion is exactly what he wants/needs, the larger this discussion gets, the better he feels. All he does is balance exactly on the line of what is allowed in the game and is not allowed, just to be a pain in the ass for server admins/hosting companies. Once you ban him he got you exactly where he wants you to be: in here, with a dumbass discussion about his "Rights", trying to force admins on their knees and even better: make them apologize for banning him. I'm not going to tell you my opinion about you because my opinion is exactly the same as 95% of all the others in this thread: you are a retarded little kiddy that needs to grow up. Honestly i do not understand why Marvel even tries to explain things in this tread. You and other trolls like you should be ignored, it's the best way to get rid of them. If you want to get unbanned: go to the Dayz Mods and request an unban, request them to delist or destoy our servers or whatever you want. Dont be suprised that they will tell you you are fucking retarded little kiddy who needs to stop wasting people's time. Ignore... exactly, that is what i'm going to do right now. -

Hi all, When i set my server clock to the timezone where i love (GMT+1) we have a time problem on the server: a watch shows a totally different time. Is there some sort of timezone configuration for the server? Many thanks! J.

These issue's will simply arrise when your item numbers breaks a certain number of digits. For example: Baked Beans spawn item # 999998, the next item will have #999999 and after that the next item will get a 7 digit item number, which isn't supported by the Hyve. So it's just a matter of time. The more popular your server is, the faster you experience this bs. It's amazing there is still no official word form the DayZ staff. Imho they just dont give a fuck. Maybe us serveradmins should start boycotting their way of communication and pull down our servers. -

I installed this on both NL13 and NL20 hosted by mgftw.com, and it works awesome. Instantly it adds all community bans (over 760+) and it checks your logs every minute. Way to go, awesome work. Hopefully an upload feature will be created that uploads new cheaters to the CBL. -

1.7.2.5: - No items are being saved in tent, everything is lost after server restart - No vehicle repairs are saved, everything is reset after server restart. - Items stolen from tent will be back after server restart - Backback is gone when going from banditskin back to normal skin - ATV jumps in the air when passing a bridge - Removed Barbwire/Tank contraptions are back after server restart - Graphical glitches remain at the known locations (Balota / Cherno / NW Airfield / Berezino / Barb Wire) - Motorcycle is auto-repaired when getting off and back on - M1911/Revolver ammoclip can be refilled by converting - Backpack dupes when useing a Ghilliesuit Is there any news about the status on 1.7.2.6? -

Some people report they still have this issue on 1.7.2.4. According to Dwarden it might have something to do with too large item-numbers in the hive. -

I spoke with Dwarden on IRC. He told me my problem probably is that my itemnumbers have too many digits. I asked him if it could be fixed and he told me to go to ANDER to let him take a look at it. Ander didn't responded to my PM. -
