Those are small bugs or sleezy tactics, like using FOV to get that bit of extra zoom you needed. You have to admit that those also lessen the gameplay. Anyway, this is a relatively big exploit, I'd almost call it hacking.
-
Really? I thought it was 21. Now that's virtuous, good sir!
-
Isn't it just common sense that cheating ruins the game for others and ultimately causes the entire game to go to hell? I'm not saying players who pick up hacked gear should be punished. I'm saying they should leave it and move on. It's cheating, it's wrong.
-
That "there is no law for it, thus it's not bad" mindset is a bit concerning. Do you really need someone above you to tell you what's right and wrong at all times (apparently even ranging into using stolen cars)? Have you no ability to think for yourself or are you just that unvirtuous? Maybe both?
-
It really isn't... You have to stop pretenting that this isn't glitching/hacking/cheating and that using it, though without consequence, is also cheating
-
You two aren't exactly virtuous, are you?

So how soon before the first DLC? And what effect will they have?

There won't be DLC. -
"Official" spawn in east, travel west source
liquidsnake replied to Bororm's topic in General Discussion
I started playing this game for its milsim characteristics, and I'm sure the majority did so for the same reason. They can't just turn it into some boring cavemen deathmatch without causing a major upheaval and draining their fanbase. I always pictured DayZ to take place just a few months/years after the "outbreak", meaning there'd be plenty weapons to go around the supposed 1% which survived (especially since various military entities entered Chernarus to fight off and/or quarantine the infected). If you think about it, it's well near impossible for that 1% to run out of weapons in that scenario -
Ammo Calibration : Poll & Discussion
liquidsnake replied to stielhandgranate's topic in General Discussion
I agree with their decision. I also don't want too many ammo types and think it'll damage the game if there are. However, why the hell stop here, with only 7.62x51/39, 9mmP, .45ACP, .357 and 5.56x45??? That's nowhere near the amount of cartridges that'd hurt gameplay. This looks like they're watering down their "anti game", bigtime. For damn's sake, they're contemplating on making the AK74 shoot 5.56! What the hell? I say cap the amount of cartridges at 10 and no more. Add 7.62x53R, 5.45, .50BMG and you got just about every calibre you'll need for the guns we'll see in the future. With the odd exception of course, like the Makarov shooting 9mmP instead of 9mmM, but small things like that are quickly forgotten. An AK74 firing 5.56, most certainly is not. Off topic: This decision solely seems to cater to those god-awful whiners who always are in the majority and get games watered down, just how they like it; simple, much like themselves. Most of the gamers have gone sissy and I don't know why. DayZ is just about the only actual challenging game left and I beg of you not to ruin yet another jewel of mine. Games used to make you want to rip out your hair, but now they're made unnecessarily easy and short for some reason. I can't count the amount of series that have been overly simplified and/or stupidified on my two hands (think Battlefield, Splinter Cell, etc.). If more of these poor decisions emerge, I'll have to add DayZ to this list and scrap it from my owned games list. Most dev teams appear to have become money crazed, and that compromises on quality and ambition. There are only a handful of "oldschool" ones, and half of those are forced into the same path as the rest by corporations like EA. -
Some questions regarding the AK-74
liquidsnake replied to Cap'n (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I don't know for sure, but they're gonna change the ammo type to 5.56x45. Apparently that's quite a hassle. Or they want to hold off on it until they get the GP-25 working. It sure is a beautiful model, so here's to hoping that it arrives soon -
Ammo Calibration : Poll & Discussion
liquidsnake replied to stielhandgranate's topic in General Discussion
Gameplay wise there is no difference between x51 and x54R, and only little difference between 5.56 and 5.45. Still, it bugs me that the Mosin shoots x51 and I'll probably die a little when the AK74 arrives and shoots 5.56. I also feel like ammo should be rarer (everyone runs around with 100-300 rounds for his weapon, it's unnecessary), and adding more types seems like a sound way to bring it about -
I read that they did, in Experimental. Haven't checked yet, tho
-
It'd make the most sense to add a modern(ish) bolt-action rifle which mounts all of the sniper attachments, so we can finally bid farewell to the terribly unrealistic Mosin options. My guess is a CZ, but it could be anything that can mount the LRS/bipod. That or they daftly decide to add yet another ancient bolt-action and leave the bipod/LRS useless still. But since they removed the capability to mount the bipod to the Mosin, it almost HAS to be a modern rifle

People copying dayz are doing it wrong.

The mod was fine on that account. I loved surviving and I always preferred that over griefing. With fishing, etc. being added to SA, I feel like I'm gonna have a real good time once persistent storage gets in. I used to just sit by my campfire at night, treasuring my collection of rare firearms  -
Same here, three times in a row now. Upon logging in my shoes were gone and everything in my inventory, second time my precious Gorka pants vanished and also my bag and shoes. Third time my gloves disappeared so that wasn't so bad. If this continues, the game will be broken for me. Rubberbanding? Sure, gets strenuous but I'll bear with it. Zombies clipping through walls? Who the hell cares? But gear disappearing upon login just defeats the purpose of the game

Overcast weather is darkening the game way too much
liquidsnake replied to alleycat's topic in General Discussion
I agree. Whenever the sun is behind a cloud it gets way too dark and it also gets dark too early (16:00 = night???) -
I just want a bit more than a few GAZ and other russian vehicles this time around. I'd like to see less PoS cars
-
Not broken yet. Even though I haven't given gear to the less fortunate lately, I still am no KoS'er and try to hold up every time.
-
After a couple trees it should require sharpening. It definitely shouldn't be ruined, or even damaged.
-
I like the sway, but it should come with an option to support your weapon on suitable surfaces. And of course a working bipod.

Fishing Guide/Tutorial (Exp 0.45.12499 )

Beans for you! I already crafted the rod but couldn't attach the hook, so I gave up. Now I'll give it a whirl -
Saw this floating around. Yes please!
liquidsnake replied to Daemonkid's topic in General Discussion
Oh yes please! Explosions should result in that agonising view -
There are various dev teams working on different improvements to the game. While one dev team is spitting out lots of weapon models, another is working on more high profile features, like vehicles and bug fixing. All in all, can it and be grateful for the little things that keep us busy while waiting

What the hell did I just read? No to every single thing you said

Torchia's "Guess That Gun!" Challenge
liquidsnake replied to Etherious's topic in General Discussion
Would be cool if we could fit an LRS on it
