.46 coming to stable this wednesday 2 July

200m, only if you're extremely unlucky and some shrapnel delves itself into your neck from that range :D

Why do you insist on putting in large cities?

We're just running low on space now. The entire north will be filled with cities soon. Not only will every city feel the same, but the beloved wilderness shrinks for no valid reason. The only valid reason to further diminish the wilderness is to add new, unseen buildings (I don't mean add a whole city with one new building, like the last one). Add a prison, a small civilian airport with newly modeled civilian hangars and civilian ATC tower. I've already seen a quarry in the works, which is good. We need more unique places, like rify. If you have any new buildings, please add them to existing towns, like you did the police station. More cities will be a lot less useful than even wilderness.

.380 ACP Coming To DayZ! [Torchia Reddit]

I understand that in the long run you have to keep similar types of ammo to a minimum. And doing so, I don't mind shooting x51 from a mosin. However, the 5.45x39 and 5.56x45 thing just goes too far for me. So far, the calibres haven't bothered me in the slightest, but that just doesn't cut it for me. It's really the only thing I have an issue with.

.380 ACP Coming To DayZ! [Torchia Reddit]

I love .380! One of my favourite handguns is the PPK, and various cool SMGs are chambered in .380 as well.

Hit detection is still absolutely abysmal.

What's even worse is the delay. Today I got engaged in the ATC at NWAF. I shot my mosin into his chest, from so close that the barrel literally touched his chest. He panic sprays, hits me in the arm with his SKS after 4 damn shots. I instantly die, then he dies...

    Bring Back Southcoast Spawns

I agree. The entire SW is a ghost town and that would fix it. We have enough military bases anyway. We do need some civilian hangars for NEAF and Balota, though

    Weapon sway solution?

It actually makes sense that your weapon sways unless focusing. The thing is heavy and it's well-nigh impossible to hold it perfectly still. Not without a bipod, anyway.
  8. I've never even been in a chopper and I know a few things about flying it. The start switches are overhead. The batteries, fuel system, engine ignition, and maybe something else need to be turned on in that order. There should be writing under the switches to indicate which is which and they're even right next to eachother, in the exact order you need to switch them. The stick between your legs is for controlling the main rotor, which tilts in the direction of the stick. There are paddles at your feet to control the rear rotor, the same as a plane, simple left/right. On your side is a lever to regulate the throttle. If you think I've googled it, think again. So, having no real connection to aviation, I still know all that is needed for basic control of a helicopter. I'd still crash, but it's just one of those thing you improve at throughout the game. Much like sucking at handling a gun at first and gradually improving, flying a heli should come with a lot of trial and error. Stepping into the pilot seat should be a death sentence for a non-experienced player, and there's no arma to practice either. I'd love it if the entire start sequence would be added, which'd leave noobs on the ground

Since when are binoculars 4 slot

4 slots is way too much for binocs. Especially for those. I have the exact same model, and it's pretty small. 2 slots tops.

Ammo Calibration : Poll & Discussion

@Pillock Correct calibres just isn't a detail, at least not to me. Loading 7.62x51 into a Mosin is almost as bad as fictional weapons or overly tacticool firearms. They just... make me want to throw up. OT: What they need to realise is that the loot system is broken. If no loot respawns until the server restarts, I sure as hell wouldn't want too many calibres. However, once it's fixed and loot respawns regularly, more calibres are not only a viable decision, but needed. Right now, finding the round you want is nicely balanced. Once loot respawns it'll become ridiculously easy to find what you need. More calibres would make finding the round you need as well-balanced as it is now. I must agree that now is not the time to add new rounds, but in the future? Hell yes.

    Actual Super Market

There are no Walmart-like shops in europe. Just few malls in the west, let alone the east. We have shopping centres instead of malls, but even those are rare in eastern europe, I believe. What I can see is some sort of market. Even here, in a little town in Holland we have a market every friday. In eastern europe it ought to be the same

confirmed new stuff in exp. 46.

I really love the new NEAF. I'm seeing a lot more players inland nowadays. It could use a few hangars, though. Maybe there needs to be a new civilian hangar model. And too bad that those new buildings near NEAF aren't yet lootable.

    Sniping and Handguns.

I love the M1911, since it's the most accurate handgun and has plenty stopping power with its .45 rounds. 7 shots are more than enough to down someone. While the Magnum and FNX45 have their merits, my choice will always be the 1911. All three are viable handguns, though, so it's your choice. Anything else sucks in PVP atm. As for sniping, only take shots you know will hit. Don't spray and pray with a sniper, it won't work. Never panic, just stay still and focus.

    was attacked by AKM

They're just full auto fools. The AKM is definitely a semi-auto weapon with its recoil. I'll laugh even harder when the G3 gets added and people go all full auto with that.

    Biggest Douche Bags

Doing sadistic stuff to captives is fun, but don't take it too far. Typically, making it last too long is taking it too far. Feeding poison, breaking legs and leaving, etc. is pure douchebaggery. That's not even sadistic, it's just being an arsehole. I like to burlap sack my victims, make them run and shoot them in the back. That's sadistic, but not being a douche
  16. I don't get the issue at hand. Transport heli's aren't god-like flying cannons which can kill everything in a certain radius. You've been playing too much CoD, if you think that's the case. You try shooting an M240 from a moving heli to a moving target, from a distance of 200+ metres. You won't even land a hit, even if the target is wearing a neon pink carnaval outfit in the middle of an open field. All you can effectively do is suppress him, which is exactly what those LMGs are for. Even so, guns aren't mandatory on choppers, why can't we just have a civ heli? Then, the finding bases thing. STOP HIDING YOUR BASES UP NORTH. I don't even need a heli to find your poorly hidden bases in the west, north and black forest. I hid my own bases in unusual spots. The result is, no looted bases, even with vehicles. Even hiding a car in an open field in a low traffic area is better than up north. You should also stop blaming choppers, since -as I said- I found a ridiculous amount of bases on foot, not even by car. The only real "issue" is the ability to transport players anywhere. But what exactly is the issue here? So what? It's just one of the virtues that come with owning a chopper. Lastly, fighting over chopper spawns, searching for a chopper and everything added a lot of fun to DayZ. I'd hate to see that go.

  18. liquidsnake

sawn off .22 sporter poll ...should we be able to

Cutting down a shotgun increases spread, which is useful in CQB. Cutting down another type of firearm makes it easier and faster to handle in CQB. However, cutting down the Sporter has such a massive effect on its accuracy that only a fool would consider doing it. It's already relatively light and not all too long, so it's fine in CQB.

The sun... so OTT, needs toning down.

I like that I have to keep in mind where the sun is, might I get ambushed. However, it's indeed unrealistically bright. I don't care if it stays or goes
  20. liquidsnake

    Sun poisoning

Nah, before you know it, everyone in Chernarus would be black to circumvent getting a sunburn :D
  21. Exactly. Best case scenario, we get short reload anims which load one bullet. We need those for the non-magazine rifles/pistols
  22. For weapons like the double barrel I'd support a different anim triggered by R, which is slightly longer than that of the speedloader. After all, those weapons are made to be reloaded like that. The rest of the weapons seem fine as is
  23. No, it's an argument for a system which simulates the player being pre-occupied with reloading. We have that now. @Rigor Mortis As long as you don't store your mags in a random manner, but instead all with the opening up, you're just fine. Since putting a mag in backwards is a lot dumber than putting a single round in backwards, you've said enough on that regard. You were talking about one shot rifles, which are a lot easier to chamber (because they're made for that), so it doesn't apply to anything else. I do agree that single shot rifles should be reloading easier, though. Maybe pressing R twice would load the shotgun (two separate shorter loading anims for one round, together taking up a bit more time than the speed loader's anim)? And the Longhorn could simply reload by R.
  24. Are you saying you can't grab a mag and put it in your pocket without looking at it? Everyone can. On the other side, putting a small object into a hole of about the same size, ALWAYS requires you to look. It's like putting a battery into something, you always look.
