I've had the same issue. I've been killed yesterday after about a month and whoever killed me couldn't read my complete story :(

I never even bled, it was just the shovel hitting my legs
-
Yesterday, I got attacked by some guy with a shovel. I had a machete so I just had to hit him once or twice to make him bleed and then I ran off. He didn't have any hits on me at that point. I ran for a good 5 mins and he followed. I thought he was weak enough at that point to end it and I ran into a house, onto a stairs in the house. He again followed and I laughed at his sheer stupidity of thinking he can win this.I was higher on the stairs I had pretty much headshots only with my machete and I believe the machete hits faster as well. He was basically hitting my legs with a shovel. After I had 10 headshots with the machete and he about 6-7 hits on my legs... I was onconscious. The guy hit me 6-7 times on the legs to knock me out, while I let him bleed out for 5 mins at the least (3 places where blood spurted out of his body) AND had 10 headshots on him.... Luckily I woke up with a dead bandit at my feet, but I was pretty frustrated when I was hit unconscious, especially since I was near Elektro

I pronounce Z as zed, but DayZ as Day Zee. Day Zed just sounds wrong to me, while it'd be logical to pronounce it that way

What dayz could have been without zombies

I don't understand your problem with his post for a second. He's saying it takes a lot of work to make the engine compatible with zeds, and you say it isn't finished. Where did he ever imply it is finished? If anything, saying work is needed to make the engine compatible with zeds implies that it isn't finished. Sorry for double post, dear God don't ban me, I beg of you -

I feel like we'll need Chernarus 3.0 if we'd go into the realistic apocalypse direction. We can't simply remove zeds and add something else, other forms of apocalypses are a lot harder to simulate. Believe me when I say SA will be a whole lot more fun when the zeds are done and actually dangerous. I would've preferred a more realistic apocalypse, though. -
Lately, whenever I find a pen and paper I write a letter with the background story of my char and sometimes I write my version of how it all started. I like to RP at times, so I thought it'd be fun to have some sort of death letter on me to the guy who killed me or finds my body. Just wondering if there are players out there who'd actually read it and if there are others like me who like to write letters. Would love to come accross some letters a bit more :)

OHK bolts is hardly what they should be. They should kill over time, not instantly. It should be extremely hard to treat a bolt to the guts (same for 5.56 and 7.62), but an instant kill is a bit too much. I'd say OHKO would do, to simulate the extreme pain which renders the recipient conscious but unable to fight back in any way.

Wow looks amazing! Would also really fill up the wasteland that is Chernarus

Would be epic, I'd spray messages of doom on every wall I can find :D

Stop With the "This is Russia BS"

We've seen what weapons they sport in Arma 2 so I doubt they'll have western firearms. Also, groups like that tend to go for cheaper ones, like the AKM and the likes. Would love some more story behind DayZ as well -

Exactly my way of looking at it. But still, seeing certain civilian-owned weaponry like the SCAR-L/H in Chernarus would be too obscure for me. I just can't see it in my mind, a Chernarussian civilian buying a SCAR. -
So far it's only been good to me, and against me

The vector would definitely be too obscure for me -
Crossbow bolts should cause internal bleeding, which need extra medical attention. Kind of like what happens when you're sick ingame. Maybe antibiotics should stop the health loss.

I do agree with you on a certain level, but certainly not 100%. I for one, wouldn't mind having an AS50 spawn rarely, under the guise of the UN (US and UK, plus other countries maybe) intervening there as an attempt to keep the pandemic under control. Definitely wouldn't mind that. Where we don't agree is the obscure firearms. IMO, the AS50 is already somewhat obscure, but its presence can be justified. If its presence can be justified I won't care as long as it's rare (much like your point of view). When it's a bit too... out there, however, I'll probably have a heart attack when I see it. I think some amazingly obscure firearms are in your wishlist, can't remember which ones right now. For me, three factors need to be in order before adding a weapon: its presence needs to be justifiable, it needs to be (extremely in some cases) hard to find and pretty much all Warsaw Pact weapons need to be a lot easier to find. -
KoS entails certain risks. If it takes 10 days to even attempt to craft something they want, people tend to avoid those risks and thus avoid encounters altogether. Would also lessen the amount of players who'll risk being friendly, though. Furthermore, once they have it, the ghillie would be valuable to them. Valuable enough to avoid risks of losing it.

If you kill someone, you can't simply hide the body. You can carry it and throw it in the bushes, but you can't freaking bury it. I'd be fine with it if there was a 1 hour grave digging animation, in combination with a 30 minute animation to hide the grave itself. Even then it should be spottable that a body has been hidden and the body should be exhumable. It's utterly ridiculous to be able to bury a body. Maybe ruining everything by setting it on fire or something, I can live with that. As for hiding, carrying bodies into bushes and nothing more. BTW, I have yet to loot my own dead self. I've never done that in SA (did it a few times in the mod, though), so you can stop assuming that's the reason I dislike body "hiding".

I actually got a dozen kills with it after I found out the iron sights were below target. About the same as getting kills with the makarov: headshots.
-
I knew a few things were inbound when rag doll is implemented, but not this one. Perhaps the best rag doll will bring. I just hate the magical "hide" option. Would love to see some actual hiding, soon
-
Great, that makes two of us. Sorry for off topic, but the ability to hide corpses is ridiculous. Maybe it wouldn't be if we had a grave digging animation which lasts an hour.
-
Gameplay wise, I see nothing wrong with it. Some might whinge on about it being a CoD thing, but they need to realise it's an ancient combat-tested means of killing. But... not as effective as a bullet, nor as a crossbow bolt. Even though it isn't entirely out of place, it seems rather useless because of its sheer weakness. With the blood system we have now, get ready to throw 10 knives before seeing your victim fall to the ground.

I dislike people who hide bodies

Now there's an idea. Craftable items tied to your surviving time! Imagine only being able to craft high end gear like the ghillie after you've survived for 10 days or so. Would simulate experience nicely, not to mention the effect it'll have on KoS! Whoever wants to have high-end (crafted) gear actually has to refrain from needless encounters rather than get lucky. Would be so damn awesome
-
I agree with the sinking method. Better to have high-end PC users have an advantage, than low-end PC users have that advantage and making high-end users actually adjust their settings for the worse to have said advantage. Makes no sense. I have a mid-end PC myself, so I might even end up with a disadvantage, but so be it.
