I wonder if anyone else, like me, usually leaves the vehicles they come across in favour of travelling on foot? I prefer hiking, it draws less attention and you don't miss anything on the way so if I find a vehicle I usually check it out but leave it anyway. Maybe to shorten travel time to the next ville I'll borrow it but for me more vehicles on a map probably wouldn't make a lot of difference.... more bikes, however, then we'd be talking!

If you are near the south coast you could die and hope you respawn near your body to get your stuff back. Otherwise camp a shop and eat all the tinned food you find or go looking for animals. Zombie aggro can be a bit wierd, I've crept past zombies before, within twenty metres, only to see a tiny speck approaching from far off- somehow its a zombie from the next town coming for me....

Lol why is it only some of the Pvp hardcore who play this game are idiots? Unbelievable. I never seem to see anyone else behave so stupidly on here. I would love to play on a server like this. With the moral ambiguity of player contact defined in the title of the server, it could be more like a gladiatorial sport. Teaming up not allowed either!

I also play World of Tanks, awesome MMO! I enjoy the pvp aspect and the stats involved in that game, the same as in Planetside 2 which I'm also playing at the moment. I don't play Dayz the same way as these though because it has the potential to be played in other ways rather than just the one focus. I'm hoping the environment in the SA is more unforgiving so survival becomes more difficult, this will also shorten the lifespans of dedicated pvpers who aren't in a group so they might be more inclined to work with other survivors, maybe protect them from hostile groups. I can see the attraction of pvp in Dayz but it seems pointless to ignore the other parts of the game to me and I expected when I first started playing to see more survivor groups vs environment/bandits, Roll on the SA...

Also, I get this if I drop my pack to change skins... If I wait for a few minutes while mousing over the pack on the ground periodically, I can eventually pick it up. There is a five minute or so delay before the pack I dropped becomes tangible so it seems.

Could it be lag? It sounds like the action is not completing properly if the items just re appear in your original pack. I usually mousewheel over new pack - open - transfer items into it from old pack - move away - move back -mousewheel over new pack and select take pack = old pack now on ground/new one on my back. Sounds similar to what you did though... It's more nerve wracking then approaching NWAF on a high pop server usually.

I call them suicidal, as they are playing the game in a way which can only result in their death. The more action they seek out the more likely they will die, they won't survive the apocalypse...

There are ways to get the hero skin without having to blood bag people.

To be fair, the way he or anyone else wants to play is not really any concern of yours so you don't have to be so sarcastic about it. If you truly do not get any enjoyment out of the game other than by making contact/shooting people then thats the way you like to play - just accept that there is more to the game wether or not you like it. For instance I personally like the desolation and atmosphere of a low population server so I get less player contact, but that makes it a much more thrilling experience when I do. I can't imagine that many other players like that but I'm fine with that, I don't post on PVP/bandit kill threads asking ' killing bambi's on high pop servers is so boring wth do you get out of it?' I just accept that some people like that.

When starting out I'd spend some time looking in residential houses and supermarkets for the alice pack, its big (20 slots) and quite common. Its an essential item and with all those slots you can easily move your primary straight into your pack (10 slots must be free) to equip the hatchet. There's really no need to put things on the ground normally, which is good as its a bit risky for your items!

Not a lot he can do about that with a 32 bit OS, I think 4gb is ok as I run that and get good fps (will be doubling it to 8 soon though). Seems to me that the CPU is the weak point there.

Look for a low pop private server with side chat if you want a more interesting take on Dayz then just KOS. You'll still get into fights, just less often...

I don't run into many hackers nowadays, much less than a few months ago but I play mainly on relatively low pop private servers. Private hives don't link to the main one and seem to be well looked after by admins making for a better experience IMO, of the new maps I like Namalsk and Panthera the best - Namalsk is tough to survive initially and seems the most similar to Chernerus in feel. L85 and debug removed recently ish. Edit - The thing I like most about private hives is that you start fresh each time you join a different one, so I have lots of them on the go at any time!

I remember having trouble going from controller to mouse/keyboard at first but its worth persevering with for the added degree of control and accuracy it gives with an FPS, particularly a game like this where accuracy is so important. I found the best way to get used to it was to play Doom for a couple of hours (its an easy game to learn M/K on) and go from there. I find using a controller to play an FPS similar to using an etch-a-sketch to draw a piece of artwork...

Well technically, in this case, none of us do... Don't forget its not as simple as just 'shooting people' for the purposes of this thread. There are several unusual factors to take into account and at least some of them will bite your face off.

I'm not sure why the OP ran up the stairs in the coffee shop rather than out through the open doorway at the opposite end of the hall though, that would have sorted out this particular mess :P
