I don't mind Yogscast, In fact I think their minecraft videos are funny. But their light hearted style doesn't really translate over well to DayZ which is by nature, dark and gritty. Its a bit like having the Chuckle Brothers do the DVD commentary for Schindler's List.

Pre 1.7 I would have said players but recently it has been from zombies. If im playing solo its usually zombies and with friends its usually players.

My advice would be, do go into Cherno and Electro and experience them for yourself, especially at night as it is TENSE. Wander about looting stuff, learn the layouts, shoot zombies and find yourself under siege in a building, get killed, kill, have a go at communicating with other survivors. Then eventually if you can sneak around and loot enough stuff to survive, you are ready to wander further north. -
Can anyone explain how the flashlight works in 1.7.1.5? I have one in a toolbelt slot, and handgun and rifle in their respective slots. I can't just press L and have the flashlight work, but apparently you can remove from the toolbelt which gives me a "you do not have enough room" message despite having 5 free inventory slots.

I take it the handgun slot must be free before you can do "remove from toolbelt" ?

Unless there is some sort of steam offer on, you will probably find that the retail version of Arma X is cheaper than buying it from steam.

In my experience, you have more chance of finding a friendly stranger in cherno/electro than further north. By the coast, especially now, people have nothing to lose and so don't mind avoiding or communicating with others. Up north however, people have decent gear and will not risk losing their gear to team up with some stranger. -

The new patch is really tough without NVGs. I foresee a lot more chain respawning so that friends start together in the same area. -
I came online after being away all weekend and checked the dayz news to find that the new patch has been released, yay! So I had Six installed and thought i'd give it a go. 20 minutes later after it updated itself and I stumbled around the interface getting the beta patch and the latest mod version, I launch Day Z using what Six updater tells me is a up to date mod only to get a watermark saying i'm using the wrong code... Anyone maintain a torrent of the latest code?

If you are using beta patch 93666 or onwards, they have tweaked the lighting so you can't do the HDR trick any more. So its either a light source, NVGs or blackness. -

Not sure if someone mentioned this on a previous page but as well as gamma being turned up, you need to set HDR to very high. As a current NVG owner, all I can say is :P (I fully expect to lose them soon though) :D -
Would you be mad if they were working on a separate game instead of a mod?

I wouldn't mind it becoming a full game at all in the same way that Killing Floor started out as a UT2004 mod and became a standalone game. Investment in the game would be awesome, more stability, maps, skins, etc. -
What kind of maps do you want to see in the full game?
