From my experimenting, the artifacts radiate from placed bodies around the map, That would explain why you get them from Balota, since there are placed dead bodies around the airfield.

The game is still in an alpha state. There are still many kinks to be worked out in the game, be patient. Remember to report any bugs you see on the forums.

Your issue here is someone is using your key or you are using a disabled key because you have a pirated copy of the game. You could buy a key, they are relatively cheap in comparison to other games. STEAM: http://store.steampowered.com/app/33930/
