Notice: All those who get stuck at loading
Sandersson Jankins replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Generally, I find that if a server is giving me "waiting for server response" there is no use trying to wait. Only one time out of the many that I did choose to wait did I get into the server, able to play. Just hop on another server, if that one gives you the same, do it again. You should eventually get in one that will allow you to connect. -
Patch 1.5.7 and this being an Alpha and fucking zombie spawns
Sandersson Jankins replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
I fucking love the new zombie spawns, intentional or not. You see, the more times that I can say "Holy shit I'm fucked!" to myself, the better the game is for me. Before I only had to worry about players, but with shit-tons of zed running around I've gotta watch out for them too. I love it. -
[1.5.6] Bandit transition removes Binos/Goggles
Sandersson Jankins replied to Legacy (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Yeah, I recently lost everything but my secondary and ammunition upon return to survivor skin as well. -
Petition to add the Mosin Nagant to Day Z
Sandersson Jankins replied to Kophka's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Signed. I really want more "civilian" weaponry rather than military hardware. I want a god-dang Garand. -

A discussion about factions
Sandersson Jankins replied to Sandersson Jankins's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
See, my inexperience with the ARMA II engine is showing. I figured group chat would be used more for ad-hoc groups of dudes running around, not used for possible factions. Well, the purpose would still be the same, I suppose! -

A hub for trading, meeting and bearing.
Sandersson Jankins replied to raphier's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Guys, I hate to say it, but judging by rocket's quotes (which I'm too much of a lazy fuck to dig up at the moment) state that there will be as little "interference" as possible into the player-driven world. Meaning no safe-zones, no NPCs that blast bandits, etc. Edit: It'd be acceptable, cool, and really damn commendable if you could get this going through sheer cooperation, teamwork, and the magic of friendship. I don't think it could happen though, at the moment there really is not much of a point to trading except in very specific circumstances. ...Well, actually I didn't mind saying that because I feel that these ideas have no place in a game like this, but I don't want to be a dick about anything. -
Howdy guys. Before I begin this post, I'd like to apologize in advance for making ANOTHER faction thread. The reason I am doing this is that most of the threads discussing factions seem to have been started by people that didn't want to type more than a few sentences, and either were too lazy or too unintelligent to formulate any lucid thoughts on the subject. Alright, so factions. I've seen many quotes stating that rocket (THANK YOU BASED ROCKET) would like to keep the game-world as player-developed, or player-controlled as possible. That is, he does not want to create a wonderful theme park in which players may experience only the things that the developer puts in place for them. I respect this, and I've been waiting for years for this exact game. I also respect the fact that this is an alpha, and this is not intended as a "POOT MOAR CONTENT IN NAO IM BOARED" post. I hope that people will provide their points of view in the most lucid manner that they can. Now, on to my thoughts on the matter. At this time, I'm thinking that if factions are to be implemented (and it's fine if they won't be, I mean shit, I can't contribute anything but opinions and I suppose I could take a picture of me doing something silly to give rocket a chuckle if he's feeling blue) the best way to do so would be to create several factions with distinct skins (this being the most important part, we've got to be able to tell folks apart), with no special starting items, or loadouts (such as a chernarussian military remnant faction getting awesome orbital shoopdawhoop cannon AKs but little to no supplies). I'm no expert, and hell, I'm not even really a novice at what the ARMA II engine is capable of, or how it accomplishes anything. However, I think that if it is possible to make each faction have it's own side-chat, it would be for the best. Think about this: you decided to go in with a couple buddies in some faction (specific design/lore shit is irrelevant for the sake of this point). You see over side chat that some enterprising fellow is attempting to form a few faction-bros together to go ghetto-blast a party of opposing faction-dudes in a town. You get together with them, either get in teamspeak, or use direct channel (god willing it's functional) and you go ghetto blast the fuck out of the other faction guys. I think that shit would be pretty damn cool. Of course you can do this now. It's entirely possible. However, I feel that implementing factions in a very minimalistic manner is not too intrusive and not too "theme-park" in spirit. Oh, and an afterthought here. It should CERTAINLY be a choice to opt-out of factions, or join an "independent" faction that is not intended for organization or comraderie. Forcing people into something like this would be gayer than all hell. Oh, and another afterthought. I think that implementing factions at some point would create some really interesting politics and dynamics, but in addition to that, it would alleviate the problem that some people seem to be experiencing of "shoot-on-sight" or "COWWADOODY KID" mentality. Even the most cowwadoody of kids know not to blast their homies if they went into a faction. Or I guess they could jump on the independent train and pew pew everyone with their makarov anyway. Also, in the event that some jackass jumps in a faction and starts blasting everyone he sees INCLUDING other faction members, they should be removed from the faction after a certain number of friendly-fire incidents in a certain period of time. Perhaps they should be forced to wear a sign over their independent skin with the words "I'M A MASSIVE FAGGOT". Yeah, that'd be rad. Now, everyone. Thoughts? Opinions? I don't give a fuck what they are, I'd just like to hear what you folks have to think on the subject. Thanks in advance, and happy hunting.

To servers owners:veteran instead of regular
Sandersson Jankins replied to kinex's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I haven't seen any US veteran servers. Are there even any? I'd love to play on veteran, but don't neccessarily want to take the ping-drop and play on Euro local time. -
Oh hi and welcome to Chicago 1, your new server.
Sandersson Jankins replied to Mojo (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Mojo, you're a fucking awesome dude. Just wanted you to know that. Oh, and your server is pretty kickass too. -
IF this was an actual game...
Sandersson Jankins replied to rocket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
As long as you keep control over the project, I am fine with whatever, Rocket. I would prefer a one-time purchase. I just don't want someone over you telling you what to do with your mod. You've done a kick-ass job so far, and you have all the right ideas. Last thing this mod needs is someone forcing your hand for profit-motivated reasons. -
Bandit Skin change issue (all lost)
Sandersson Jankins replied to Riddick (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I recently turned from bandit to survivor, lost most of my inventory, but not all of it. Lost my primary weapon, AKM with the ammunition, all of my primary inventory except for 2 raw meat. Can't remember if I lost my backpack items. I did not lose my secondary w/ ammo nor any of my survival gear. -
MERGED: Everything poop and pee
Sandersson Jankins replied to grandpa_smuckers's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I feel that the need to shit and piss should be a feature. The excretions should be trackable both by zeds and players. You get close to a spot where someone just dropped a fat poo log? You get an icon on your screen indicating that your character is thinking "JESUS CHRIST SOMETHING SMELLS LIKE SHIT". If you fail to drop a deuce on the ground, you'll shit yourself. Zeds will be all over your smelly ass, and you'll be trackable by players. Same thing with pissing yourself, although it'd be a smaller effect. ...Obviously this is not high on the mod team's list of things to do, and I'm partly making this post in jest. However, I really would appreciate an excretion system.
