OP, why don't you wait for the console version to come out. Go play some GTA:O where your idea is already implemented Safe Mode and Bad Sport in DayZ? GTFO!

We NEED some way to identify heros and bandits.
dirtybaz replied to 1S1K-Airborne's topic in General Discussion
I haven't read every post, and I appreciate what OP is trying to say, but DayZ isn't technically a game; it's a social experiment. You can't balance human nature, and you can't penalise people for killing other people in a game about survival. The fact that you CAN'T balance the game is the exciting part! Think about when the game is fully implemented. Groups of heros will naturally develop. They will create safe zones to help decent lone-wolfs survive. They might wear similar clothes to identify themselves. Full clans of heros will develope, or maybe even a fully functioning traders or medics guild! Likewise there will be bandit squads roaming the wilderness, and bandit areas on the map that are never safe. The natural fight between heros and bandits will always be there - the poor lonewolfs either need to pick a side, or stay in the forrest with their bow and arrow and box of matches. -
Don't throw away all your empty bean cans! Let's make a use for them - this is an apocolypse after all! Get your thinking caps on and let's make some innovative items to help the lonely survivor (and any of Rocket's programmers that might be reading the forum!!) Green shirt or burlap sack? Duct tape or string? Combine them, then add to your Mosin for that camoflaged M40 look. Extra burlap sacks, rope and a knife? Cut a few holes to make them into a smashing mask. Or a rambo-style schmok and booties! An empty tuna can makes a handy recepticle for bullets (but the ammo stinks! A mini-ammo box if you like. A used cereal box makes an impromtu medbox for soft items like bandages and empty blood bags (but it won't take heavier items cause it's just cardboard!). Not cooking pot? Don't panic. Simply add an empty can to the fire, apply rice and canteen to it, and hey presto; a 1-use cooking pot and receptible for your delicious steaming white rice. Burlap sack and sticks? Create a simple net to catch fish. Leave the net in a stream or pond, and come back in 24 hours, and you have a 50% change of catching a fish! And 10% chance of catching a disease when you eat it! Screw-driver + broomhandle + rope? Fishing spear. Probably a 1% chance of catching anything though... Someone lost their specticles? Good, an intact lens makes a handy sun-focus-fire-starter! Doesn't work in the forrest though! Broken binoculars? Use a screw-driver or hammer to cut them in 2 for a single working eye piece. You get the idea.

Well there are radios in some houses, and I remember an old video of Rocket turning on a radio station and playing music. Do these work? If not you would need 2 walkies. So technically, you could set a radio to a certain frequency, run up to sniper hil, match that frequency on your walkie, yell for help (or brag about how much ammo you have!!), and then shoot the person who comes in the house!

Get rid of the m4...and replace with period and place apropriate weapons.
dirtybaz replied to Armadyl's topic in Suggestions
I always assumed the 4 starter guns are just placeholders for now. No-where in the world would have this many FN45 and M4's lying around. I get the impression they added all the M4 and customisation from the very start of the Alpha, to make sure it was working. M4 will be the most customisable gun, but it will probably be the rarest too. Rocket has already said that military weapons will be phased out as we approach version 1.0 and will be extremely rare, so expect the FN45 and M4 to be pretty much end-game content. I am happy to accept that the US dropped in supplies or there was a small US force in Chernarus to explain the presense of (very rare) US hardware. And NATO could explain stuff like the G3 etc. Going forward, we have the Mosin and Double Barrel, and we know the Luger22 and SKS are inbound. Those fit the civilian survival setting perfectly. I'd also like to see common Makarov, a wooden-stocked civilian pump action shotgun, and a hunting rifle in there too. Dream list: Civilian/police: Makarov, Ruger22, Double barrel, WoodenPump, SKS, CZ-hunting rifle Home Military: Glock, .357, AK74, AKS74u, Dragunov, RPK Outside military: BrowningHP, FN45, MP5, M4, G3, M24 -

After the patch last night, within 10 minutes I found a Mosin compensator, burlap sack, hacksaw and spraypaint. All zombies were military. Seemed a bit strange? Do you think this is an issue with the patch, or is this normal, since these items are new to the loot table, they will show up first? -
Mature UK Group looking for new recruits
dirtybaz replied to ganjademon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hello. I've been lone wolfing now for a few days in game, kinda bored now. Looking for some squad mates to male the game more fun. Mature player, 32 year old from UK, with plenty ARMA experience. No murders. I'll give your server a go tonight.
