1 makarov shot brings down a helicopter...
Hugo (DayZ) replied to Tersidre's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This looks shopped, I can tell from some of the pixels and from seeing quite a few shops in my time. -
So my bud and I have been running group sessions in Chernarus for awhile, surviving and making our way on a grand tour of this crazy wasteland. We're thinking of expanding our tactical capabilities here by running with a trusted third, but we generally avoid contact and try not to engage with strangers unless necessary in-game, so... here we are on the forums. c: We operate in a pretty large portion of the continent, migrating from base to base in Chern, Zeleno, Devil's Castle and back. We aren't exactly dedicated to any one server, though we did have a car and fortified base running in one for awhile - generally we just decide on something low pop. over skype and drop in. We're not bandits or KOSers. We PvP if necessary but if you're looking for that kind of group you're probably in the wrong thread; we've gone to extraordinary lengths to avoid contact, and almost always call friendly before engaging. Play time is sporadic, usually in one-four hour sessions across the week. We work on base and go to college as well, so if you can't handle waiting around IRL, we're not exactly it. Age, sex, locale, role - none is nearly as important a consideration as trustworthiness. We're grouping up with an outsider and it's too easy to get shot in the back in this game. If you're interested, getting someone else on the forums here (maybe someone who's played with you and you haven't fucked over royally) to vouch for you would go a long way. tl;dr LF1M for Chernarus

Sounds great! Give me just about a day to figure some things out, we'll be in contact. -
Artifact glitch is getting ridiculous
Hugo (DayZ) replied to KillCam96's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I find it's the dead non-zombie soldiers that make them appear for me. Once I run right into the eye of the storm, so to speak, all the polygons from hell (from that particular point source) disappear and I'm looking at a soldier's body. ...So airfields, center of Cherno, military camps... yeah. Tough shit for me I guess, and apparently others too. Not sure if that's what it is for everyone else but I don't get them from anything else. Is there a way to delete the model? -
This is NOT a zombie game...
Hugo (DayZ) replied to Gareth_Sims (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This. As it is now, the zombs can pace you while sprinting, and RARELY glitch forward enough to hit you every once in awhile while sprinting, but unless it causes you to start bleeding, it doesn't matter. Why shoot the guy when you can run a few miles to the nearest barn/town and lose him? Or lose a horde of 20 for that matter? But if he hit you once and slowed you down, simulating grabbing at you, you'd keep getting hit, actually have to fight the fucker, and if you didn't have a silenced weapon, risk drawing more in, etc... shit could get hairy quick and you'd have to think twice before dashing through Cherno on a shopping spree, scanning rooftops and windows and ignoring the horde of zombies chasing you. I do this and I know it's not what I'd be doing in a real zombie apocalypse, if my life were on the line. -
I've got two player kills under my belt, but they're registering differently on different servers. The first was a retaliation kill to a shotgun round in my chest, and that one ticks as a bandit kill no matter where I go. The second, however, ticks as either a murder or a bandit kill on different servers, with my humanity changing accordingly (only by ~1000 each way). The sniper I'd snuck up on fired at me and missed entirely, then I shot him dead. Has this happened to anyone? Not a big deal as I've still got plenty of humanity and a camo suit, but it'd be nice to know how the game tracks retaliation.

I've finally got my hands on a carbine with grenade launcher and haven't let it go since. Don't even carry sidearm ammo, just grenades and bandages. I do have a revolver though. I do operate in a team of two and my partner's got a CZ though. I'm assault mode and he countersnipes, so we can handle ourselves in the woods or in the cities as long as no one gets too bad of a drop on us. If hatchet wasn't a primary I'd never let it go. Need a silent weapon to kill zombies with ><

Oh my- ADD ALL THE BRONIES.
-
He can club chickens with his axe, cut wood and make fires to cook them doe.

To be fair, it really is all he needs. Maybe we're all crazy for hunting each other with guns and scavenging towns full of zombies and snipers.

TRADING M14 AIM + MAGS + M9 SD FOR Engine Parts!

Where are people like you when I run through Cherno and pass by 20 spare engine parts. :'[ -
Ghillie suit - easy come, easy go.
Hugo (DayZ) replied to mikecjordan@hotmail.co.uk's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
My bud and I had stumbled for the first time upon the concrete construction site east of Cherno, and were clearing it floor by floor to make sure our new home was safe before we logged for the night. We're going up to third deck when we both hear a cracking noise and my bud loses ~4000 blood and goes down on the floor from borkded legs. We're freaking out over comms wondering, "WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED!?" and scrambling for cover/scanning desperately for snipers. In hindsight, it may have just been him crawling up the fucking stairs. >.> Good cliffhanger to a night's episode though; put a med run into cherno on the next day's agenda. -

Bring a trusted buddy with a scoped rifle to watch from afar and keep a bead on the other fella, smile always, and hope like hell the trade doesn't have to turn into a bloodbath? c:

I've got an M4A1 and 2 clips I can trade; if you like the sound of that, message moi. Edit: They're SD clips.

I will never be a bandit. Survivor nice-guy stories
Hugo (DayZ) replied to IroquoisPliskin (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Saw this and HAD to share my own 'won the nice guy lottery' story that happened today. My teammate and I had gotten separated while lost in the woods and I ended up near Devil's Castle (our original destination was Stary). Having heard stories of bandits making it their fortress on a regular basis, I crept up slowly on my belly through the forest, stopping to scan the ramparts and towers every 100 yds. Suddenly, I hear on voice, "friendly?" in a thick accent that wasn't my bud's voice. I've been snuck up on by a guy in a ghillie with a mean looking carbine, I know that at this range we're on even footing with my AKM so I remain calm and sort of strafe around him replying, "yep, friendly, glad you didn't pop me!" He drops his gun, an M4 w/ grenade launcher, 10 clips of ammo and 4 HE grenades. "Here, take!" I'm speechless for a second, and a little hesitant to pick them up when he whips out an AS50. He doesn't seem like a bad guy and it makes no sense to try to trap me this way, but this is just one of those 'too good to be true' moments. I manage to stammer over comm, "Gee thanks man, I really dunno what to say." Then he logs off/Alt-F4s. Learned today it's not always a bad thing to run into a stranger named SLENDERMAN while you're lost in the middle of the forest. /salute -
My first encounter and battle with a bandit.
Hugo (DayZ) replied to kingpootis102's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Idunno, I've been shot in the chest with an M1014 before at point blank, not sure whether slug/pellet but it only took about 6000 blood, didn't even knock me out by some luck. I stay away from Elektro, but Cherno's decent and has most everything you need to get a leg up, generally with less snipers (have been shot there though, so it happens mind you). Like guy above mentioned, don't stick around too long. They will find you and kill you. -

Hugo (DayZ) replied to IroquoisPliskin (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
When I got this game I had read up on it a bit, watched videos, and figured I'd have to "play the game," i.e. shoot people behind their backs without so much as asking friendly, betraying allies, etc... but the first time I actually came across a survivor (both armed; he had M1014 and I had AK Kobra), we looked at each other for a second and I yelled, "friendly!" into comm before he shot me in the chest. I went full-retard spray into his neck and got a bandit kill tick, but it felt good to know I gave him a chance and that I didn't shoot first. Since then, I've played medic for two survivors, shared a steak with a bandit down on his luck, and killed a sniper whose tent I walked up on, but only after he fired at me and missed, and only after I announced friendly. I feel like that first experience sort of defines your character, and so far I'm playing hero. I'm sure some bandit will karmasnipe me later down the line, but meh, when it happens it happens. I'll have to pick up the pieces on the coast and continue surviving in this hostile world. "I will not let fear compromise who I am." -
The Coalition - Changing the Culture of DayZ
Hugo (DayZ) replied to Dr Wasteland MD's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
For the Coalition! I'm not exactly kitted to bring the fight to these dratted scoped-rifle using bandits atm, but I can certainly jump behind the idea of not killing each other indiscriminately. You have my axe!
